To be pissed off dd1 keeps eating dp tea!

She is 19 for god sake!

She has hers when she gets in from work around 7:15pm . She has probably quite a large meal for some one her size (she is very petite) finishes it all off then with in an hour or so I can hear her in the kitchen faffing about looking for food.

Recently she has taken to taking food off dp plate as he gets in at 9:30 ish.

She knows it's left for him And I tell her to leave it alone. I didn't plate his up tonight (did a beef curry) I heard her come down stairs and go in the kitchen. I heard the lid off the pan lift up, I told her to leave his bloody tea alone, then a few seconds later I heard her put it back and go back upstairs.

Just been in to check and she had took all the fucking meat out of it bar one shitty morsel!

If she gets hungry she knows she can make toast or cereal but to be taking his food - when she knows it's for him and that's all there is pissing me off.

I've just been up and told her off - she said she only had a tea spoon full

I don't know what her problem is.

That's really greedy and rude!

I'd tell her that you're not making any more food for her and she can cook her own!

Next she does it, thrust a takeaway menu at her and tell her to order your DP his dinner and shes paying.

Yes I'm going to say something along those lines walter Just looking back, she dies it with dd2 (15 months) if I make dd2 a sandwich, she will take a piece.

Dp basically has curry sauce and rice.

I dont know what to say that would drive me mad does she eat during the day maybe she misses meals and is hungry still no excuse id be reALLY ANGRY it is rude and disrespectful to eat somebody elses dinner id ban her from the kitchen

Can you put his into a sealed tub to reheat when he gets home?

To take food off people's plates when they haven't eaten yet is shocking behaviour, even for a typical selfish 19 year old. Really strange behaviour, not like it wouldn't be noticed

Wow, that's really mean of her. Don't know what you can do about it without guarding his dinner though! Keep the pan/plate where you can see it?!

Do they get on? Doesn't sound like she cares about him or likes him really.

Has she always been greed y with other people's food id lose the plot tbh I hope you gave her a ticking off I like the idea on getting her to get his tea for him tonight what will he say when he has no dinner.

She has a free breakfast at work , toast, cereal ect.. But she is constantly dieting not that she needs to. She could climb through a letter box. So when she comes home I think she binges. But she has been home today and has had plenty to eat so there was no need.

It's really disrespectful. Dp bends over backwards for her. It's really fucking entitled

van that's what I feel I'm doing, guarding his food. The past few times, I'd plated up but put tin foil on so I could hear it.

They do get on. Never had a cross word or arsy moment.

Looking back I've always let her pick off my plate when she was a child. But at 19 to some one else's !

I'm going to tell him it's her and that I've bollocked her. Everything is frozen so it would have to be a sandwich if he was still hungry. He won't complain to much. He is a softy .

I may offer a foot rub.

Get a lock on the kitchen door and lock it after dinner.

I had a neighbour doing this once! It's so rude! My neighbour used to stand in my kitchen, chatting and picking at whatever was there....she'd take bits of meat from soups or stews...eat morsels of the bread till it was half gone!

I had to tell her once as it was meant for someone else! I hate to ask this ...the girl who did it to me was Anorexic and Bulimic. Is it possible dd has an eating disorder?

She works... does she pay rent, room and board? Increase it... she is eating more than you are charging her for!

Is she looking to move out? She needs to know that if she, as an adult, cannot respect the others in the house, she can find herself a lovely place all of her own, where other people won't be annoyed by her rudeness.

You may need to do that shouty thing to get through to her though!

I would be telling her that she does it once more and she will be cooking for herself in her own digs! At 19 she is an adult who should be showing respect and providing for herself!

I think thats quite odd she does that you are rght she is 19 and should know better. My dds will say oo whats that or can I have it as they alway seem hungry

Just in case my post gets lost in all the outrage...is it possible OP that she has an eating disorder? A friend of mine did this and she had one.

Plate up a plate of plastic food and hide the real food.

Put out half a portion for her, plate up the other half then hide DP's. So she's only eating her own portion anyway.

Print out a big picture of your DP with Daily Mail sad face holding an empty plate and put it strategically in the kitchen to make her feel guilty.

Casually say after she's eaten it "Oh you didn't eat that did you? I was going to chuck it out it's off"

MrsW you are right, that idea really shouldn't get lost in the mix...

I would find it worrying. If she is always dieting, yet able to climb through the letter box whilst eating like a horse... I'd be watching out for an eating disorder.

If you think that's wide of the mark, then would it be possible to cook more so there is another helping if she wants it? You could always freeze it if she doesn't. She's a teen, even some of the girls have hollow legs - and maybe you think her portion is large, but maybe to others it isn't?

mrs I did think she could be bulimic because of her eating so I was very vigilant. No trips to the toilets or anything else associated with it. It couldn't be anorexia because she loves her food.

nomama she pays minimal rent. I did the shouty thing before. She was sat up in bed. Swearing she only had a teaspoon full. But we both no she was lying.

mrsjI just think, she thinks she has a right to or that she doesn't give a fuck. - she doesn't do it to men though. When her friend stayed the other week. When me and dp went to bed, she had took dp pillow. She would have had to walk to the other side of the room to get it rather than takng mine.

Real question is, how does DP feel about it? If it's not bugging him, then it's not really a big deal. If it is, he needs to speak to her about it so she knows that it's not just you "nagging" her.

Personally, I don't care if people pick off my plate, and I've spirited away many a french fry from friends. My DH on the other hand hates it with a passion and won't even willingly share group appetizers.

It's really nothing to do with not caring about a person it's more just "Ooh, that's looks good!" .

If I knew it upset them though, I would stop and think about it. Except with DH, because.. sometimes it's fun to annoy him ever so slightly.

So make sure your DP tells her how much it bugs him, or she may not connect her eating DP's food as her being mean to him.

I don't want to go down the route of putting extra portions away for her as she needs to know she has eaten enough.

She won't make toast or crumpets because they are too 'carby' that's why she is picking meat.

Did you really shout? You say "We both know she is lying" but did you tell her she was lying or did you just let her say that without challenge?

She does sound very Poppet Princess... assuming you didn't grow her that way, what might have changed? Is she resentful of DP... DPs tea, DPs pillow...?
