AIBU?
To think Kate Bush is rubbish?
iK8 · 26/08/2014 17:57
Shrieking, arm flapping and mincing.
What am I missing? I'm sure she's a lovely woman but good lawd I cannot see the appeal.
rainbowinmyroom · 26/08/2014 17:58
I find her music incredibly depressing. Life is depressing enough as it is.
Bambambini · 26/08/2014 17:59
YABUtterlyU. One of the best artist/songwriters to come out of the UK. I'd ask you to step outside but don't think that Kate would approve!
velourvoyageur · 26/08/2014 18:00
How many of her songs do you know though? Just WH? Have you just listened to it a couple of times?
She does make complicated music which isn't that accessible, you have to give her time, but she is fantastic. The best.
She doesn't mince! Unless she's playing a part.
Nusalembongan · 26/08/2014 18:00
I loved her music 30 odd years ago, not followed her as she (and I) got older though. Wuthering Heights and Running up that Hill are amazing songs and yes she's very strikingly beautiful. Tonight should be interesting!
JenningsRoad · 26/08/2014 18:00
Didn't her recent concerts sell out in, like, seconds?
Someone must like her.
squoosh · 26/08/2014 18:01
You are entitled to your opinion.
But you're wrong.
I love and adore Kate's music. Don't find it one bit depressing. Ronan Keating, Scouting for Girls, Toploader - relentlessly upbeat 'feelgood' crap, that's depressing to me.
fishdishwish · 26/08/2014 18:02
YABU, and it sounds like you've only ever heard her early stuff, or seen Faith Brown or Pamela Stephenson impersonating her!
MsRinky · 26/08/2014 18:02
Aw, did you not get a ticket? I'd be gutted too. Never mind, you tell yourself she's rubbish if it makes you feel better.
iK8 · 26/08/2014 18:02
Playing a part Oh good grief!
Are they different then these songs? Because they all just sound screechy to me.
Gileswithachainsaw · 26/08/2014 18:03
Clearly you've never listened to a radio head album :o
Thats depressing
StillStayingClassySanDiego · 26/08/2014 18:04
I've just started a thread saying how I'd forgotten how fabulous she sounds.
Oh well, each to their own and all that!
iK8 · 26/08/2014 18:05
See, nothing you've said is persuading me. I honestly do not get the hype. It's all over news and everything.
There's plenty of music I don't like but I can appreciate why others might but with Kate? I dunno.
alsmutko · 26/08/2014 18:05
There's no accounting for taste.
My dd loves Beyonce. Now there's an artiste who's over-rated IMHO.
KneesoftheBee · 26/08/2014 18:06
As with many truly gifted songwriters, some of her best work has not been released as singles as they do not appeal to the mass market.
squoosh · 26/08/2014 18:06
But if you don't like her music why would you want to be persuaded otherwise?
I'm quite happy disliking reams and reams of bands and musicians.
squoosh · 26/08/2014 18:07
I'm having a little listen to The Ramones at the moment, thinking how sad it is they're all gone. Expect lots of people think they're rubbish.
Pancakeflipper · 26/08/2014 18:08
Yeah she's utterly rubbish... don't anyone go to her concert... just hand your tickets to me right now please...
Jennyontheblock - I hope she sings Wow. I want a full account.
This woman's work is so sad. Beautiful lyrics. There's deffo a wonderful place in music for brilliant clever talented Kate.
iK8 · 26/08/2014 18:08
Blimey this thread might be the most contentious one I've ever started on MN
OldFarticus · 26/08/2014 18:09
I love her. Much imitated (yes, looking at you, Tori Amos!) but never bettered IMHO.
