Shrieking, arm flapping and mincing.

What am I missing? I'm sure she's a lovely woman but good lawd I cannot see the appeal.

Major reviews at a glance.

Mojo.

Etc etc ad infinitum.

Arf at Smash Hits Grin

You got a link to reports of disgruntled people?

squoosh · 28/08/2014 19:48

Aw I still miss Smash Hits, they'd kick Mojo's bum.

I've only seen RAVE reviews for her show though.

awfulomission · 28/08/2014 20:09

Yup, only seen good ones. Dh works in the industry and it's gone down a storm there too.

I'd love to have got tickets.

KneesoftheBee · 28/08/2014 20:59

I am so Envy of anybody that has got tickets. I have been a fan of Kate Bush since day one. I was reading Wuthering Heights as part of my O Level when she released her single (I am that old) and I can only visualise Cathy as portrayed by KB.

The stage shots on BOF's link gave me goosebumps.

MsAstronaut · 28/08/2014 21:32

Yes I've only heard rave reviews, which makes sense as her fans are desperate to see her and you would have to put on something pretty mindblowing with all that hype.

Also, while I don't like her stuff, she does put her all into what she does. I imagine if you love her, seeing her live is fab.

bodhranbae · 28/08/2014 21:38

I would have given a vital organ to be at one of her gigs.

I saw her make a surprise guest appearance with Peter Gabriel at one of his gigs in about 1987 and swooned with excitement.

Anyone who doesn't "get" her should be locked in a room and forced to listen to This Woman's Work until they come to their senses.

Scarletohello · 28/08/2014 22:30

I actually looked quite a bit like her when I was a teenager ( long dark wavy/plaited hair), to the extent that stupid teenage boys would sing Kate Bush songs when I got on the bus! I loved Wuthering Heights, there was nothing like it, and her look was so other worldly and ethereal. I guess she was a bit of a role model for me. A one off!

fatlazymummy · 29/08/2014 14:35

missastronaut what would have fitted in with your concept of a 'feminist role model' then? Should she not have moved or made herself look unattractive to boys?

MsAstronaut · 29/08/2014 14:43

Oh I know what I mean. No, she wouldn't have not moved or not been beautiful. It's just that, to me – personal opinion! - she came across as all faux-innocent, girlie poutiness in quite a time-honoured way, and not breaking any moulds in that sense.

I have just tried again to express exactly what I mean, but deleted it because I know it sounds mean.

I have mentioned some people who seem to me to have a more feisty, no-shit attitude. You can't pin it on what they wear or exactly how they move, it's an attitude thing.

BOFster · 29/08/2014 15:03

As you can tell from my posts here, I think she's great. But did laugh at one of the Top Tips in The Poke today:

Create the experience of attending a Kate Bush concert by closing your eyes and releasing a jar full of wasps into a crèche...Grin
