Here we go! Thread five! Thread four filled in one month!

Here is a link to thread four & you can work back from there.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2017939-Nest-of-Vapers-we-continue-to-not-BU-to-carry-on-vaping?pg=1

We are all always happy to answer any question. No question is too daft or unreasonable! We all know what a minefield of terminology it is when you first take up vaping.

Here is Allergic's great summary for anyone who is starting vaping:

""A very simple guide for those who have been a bit overwhelmed by all the variety discussed on this thread. Experienced vapers either ignore, or check for errors please!

There can be a trade off to be considered around cost, variety, overall experience and hassle.

The cigalike ones are the simplest to deal with in that you just unscrew one cart & screw in another. These tend to be the type that you can buy at the local market or shopping centre for a comparatively cheap initial purchase, but the carts they use can be very expensive and tend to be limited in flavours/strengths depending on brand. They can be useful in that they are small, look the most like "real" cigs, and are the most hassle-free, but the experience really isn't as good as other methods and the cost is higher.

The next step is to have a battery and disposable tank type system (CE4 in my case) where you buy the different liquids and fill the tank yourself. The batteries last a few months to a year (about the same or a little longer than the cigalikes) and the tanks (clearomisers) last anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months - this can be extended by cleaning, but the coils inside do eventually pack in. This method is much cheaper and gives a much more satisfying experience, but has the added faff of unscrewing and topping up the tank rather than just chucking the

You can then go further and use tanks that have replaceable wicks & coils, can be stripped down & "serviced" etc. There's also a lot of variety and complexity available in the overall set-up e.g. variable voltage batteries. All these add to the hassle factor but allow the overall experience to be much better fine tuned to suit the vaper. Cost is a moot point here - you will save money using serviceable tanks, but people that get really into this can spend a fair bit on shiney new toys!

When it comes to the "juice" or liquid there's a hell of a lot of different things to consider - nicotine strength, flavour, the balance of "throat hit" vs vapour etc. But basically there are 3 ways to get the right juice which are buy ready made from a big importer (limited options), buy made to order from a smaller supplier (needs to steep for a few days), or buy the makings & mix your own (hassle, mess & steeping). These have been ordered from minimum hassle/maximum price to maximum hassle/minimum cost.

I'm a naturally lazy person and comparatively new to vaping, so I have a battery & disposable tank system, and am currently buying imported juice (Hangsen pineapple and Smartjuice Red tobacco flavour) which I know has steeped plenty while being shipped over and both brands have very good quality control. I will probably go directly to mostly mixing my own once I get a bit more money at the end of the month to buy all the bits & base liquids, though will probably continue buying the Smartjuice tobacco flavour because I like it so much! I doubt I will go down the road of serviceable tanks unless I get a nice glass one eventually."

One thing to bear in mind with the coolfire 2 is it only takes 18350 size batteries - these are 700 or 800 mah so not the greatest battery life, especially if you've got used to the MVP.

Yes, am going to get two, thanks for the numbers I'd be lost. Only thing is at checkout it asks do I want flat top or button top batteries for it? X

Allergictoironing · 24/04/2014 11:04

Well those cheapo clearos have just arrived - well impressed with that as I opted for free (and therefore longer time) postage & they've arrived 48 hours later.

They certainly look like proper originals and not clones, in the right boxes and everything. I went for the mixed colours so I can colour code clearo to flavour and received:
2 x clear
2 x green
1 x yellow
1 x smoke
1 x blue
1 x purple
1 x red
1 x pink!

Never seen a pink GS-H2 before, it's really nice Smile. I reckon that the clear & green will be the least popular colours which is why I got more of them Wink.

Now I can try those 2 flavours my friend gave me - their new strawberry replacement and the grape they are testing Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 24/04/2014 11:36

The clear ones are my favourite!

Allergictoironing · 24/04/2014 11:37

Well tha guy I linked to earlier lets you choose which colour if you want them 10 all the same Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 24/04/2014 11:38

Look what I just found Grin

Allergictoironing · 24/04/2014 11:46

Woohoo that was quick! Well found Plenty Smile Thanks

magimedi · 24/04/2014 11:49

Well - who's going to start a topic?

I don't think they should be, Polter I reckon we can get going over there with loads of different threads & have all the info more easily accessible.

SO we could have a thread for juices, one for clearos, one for mixing etc etc.

I've broken this ice over there & now have to go out.

Am expecting to return to a riot of threads over there Grin

Thread for clearos started Smile

Allergictoironing · 24/04/2014 13:07

Plus thread for terminology (gosh I'm a busy bee today). Please go add to these threads guys, and create new ones.

Shona

this is a good charger. My other half has one.

Amethyst24 · 25/04/2014 00:35

Please help me, lovely vapers! Have been fag-free for more than a year using Vapouriz cartomisers. Really like the taste of their Classic Tobacco but am annoyed by the high cost and object to the disposability of the system. So tried recharging with their "Classic Tobacco" eliquid but it was rank and overly floral/perfumey.

So bought tester kit of MyEpack premium flavours and they are VILE. "Spring" is like the Vapouriz floral thing, "Summer" is like smoking Archers schnapps and "Autumn" is like Ribena. VOM VOM VOM.

Please find me an eliquid that tastes like Marlboro Light... PLEASE...

Because I have an ENTIRE CARTON of Marlie lights in my kitchen and they are singing their siren song to me.

GarlicAprilShowers · 25/04/2014 01:16

Oh, god, send me the fags, Amethyst, and I'll research your juice Blush

My first vaping day has been a limited success. Well, no, it's been a failure. I prepared diligently - both sticks charged & filled, one upstairs, one downstairs, and went to bed wearing a nicotine patch so I wouldn't feel too deprived when I woke up (had really interesting dreams, might try that again!) Woke up, sucked on vaporiser, gagged, coughed, thought I must be doing this wrong, had another go, gagged, coughed, decided to leave it until after a shower. Chewed nicotine gum.

Managed to vape for a few hours after figuring out it's more like a cigar than a cigarette, but was also chewing nicotine gum to fend off my mounting irritation. Nicotine gum gives me the most awful reflux. Facing a choice between the burning fire of reflux and the seething anger of withdrawal, I chose neither and took my debit card to the garage shop.

I think I'll try vaping with a patch on tomorrow, but this disappointingly shaky start has made me feel less warm & fuzzy about my expensive new gadgets! All encouragement and shipments of cigarettes welcome!

Amethyst24 · 25/04/2014 01:23

Oh no, Garlic, I have been reduced to gum too as it tastes less vile. BUT have been ok with not having actual fags. The long haul really does work, hang in there! I see there is a proper board for us now so I am going to dip a toe in there and see what the experts advise. Keep away from the cancer sticks - you know you can! xx

GarlicAprilShowers · 25/04/2014 01:25

Too late for me today, Amethyst Grin But I'll think of you tomorrow!
Yes, we should move to the other board. See you there.

magimedi · 25/04/2014 08:04

Amethsyt Do come over to the dedicated board:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/stop_smoking

If you have a local vape shop go down there & chat to them about which juice to use. I only like the tobacco flavour ones & have been fag free & vaping for 19 months now.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 25/04/2014 08:23

Garlic, you did a few hours, that's a great start! Lots of people 'dual fuel' for a while when they make the switch. There's a lot to learn and it can all be a bit much while also suffering from withdrawal - there are a lot of other addictive things in fags as well as the nicotine. Just keep counting the fags you don't smoke, not the ones you do.

What nicotine strength are you using? Don't be afraid to use stronger if you need to, you can always cut down later.

See you on the shiney new board Smile

magimedi · 25/04/2014 09:18

Garlic - I vaped & smoked for the first week - slowly cutting down the fags until I realised I liked vaping better.

It is certainly a different way of smoking & takes a wee bit of time to get used to.

Don't be discouraged.

OP posts:
Cantabile · 25/04/2014 10:36

Garlic, Amethyst, welcome. Garlic, don't worry about continuing to smoke atm. I would be more inclined to leave off the gum and the patches, and go for fags and vape, gradually cutting down on the fags and upping the vape.

What strength are you on? If you're on less than 18mg nicotine then I would advise trying with 18mg with a view to dropping it down later. Don't try to do everything at once!

As Plenty says, count the cigarettes you don't smoke.

See you on the other board Thanks

GarlicAprilShowers · 25/04/2014 14:23

Just keep counting the fags you don't smoke, not the ones you do.

This is great advice! Thanks, all Flowers

Lora1982 · 25/04/2014 19:56

Garlic have you tried niquitin minis? I dont get reflux from them and they tide me over when vaping doesnt fill the hole
