Hundreds of vipers vaping in our fifth thread!!

Here we go! Thread five! Thread four filled in one month!

Here is a link to thread four & you can work back from there.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2017939-Nest-of-Vapers-we-continue-to-not-BU-to-carry-on-vaping?pg=1

We are all always happy to answer any question. No question is too daft or unreasonable! We all know what a minefield of terminology it is when you first take up vaping.

Here is Allergic's great summary for anyone who is starting vaping:

""A very simple guide for those who have been a bit overwhelmed by all the variety discussed on this thread. Experienced vapers either ignore, or check for errors please!

There can be a trade off to be considered around cost, variety, overall experience and hassle.

The cigalike ones are the simplest to deal with in that you just unscrew one cart & screw in another. These tend to be the type that you can buy at the local market or shopping centre for a comparatively cheap initial purchase, but the carts they use can be very expensive and tend to be limited in flavours/strengths depending on brand. They can be useful in that they are small, look the most like "real" cigs, and are the most hassle-free, but the experience really isn't as good as other methods and the cost is higher.

The next step is to have a battery and disposable tank type system (CE4 in my case) where you buy the different liquids and fill the tank yourself. The batteries last a few months to a year (about the same or a little longer than the cigalikes) and the tanks (clearomisers) last anything from a couple of weeks to a couple of months - this can be extended by cleaning, but the coils inside do eventually pack in. This method is much cheaper and gives a much more satisfying experience, but has the added faff of unscrewing and topping up the tank rather than just chucking the

You can then go further and use tanks that have replaceable wicks & coils, can be stripped down & "serviced" etc. There's also a lot of variety and complexity available in the overall set-up e.g. variable voltage batteries. All these add to the hassle factor but allow the overall experience to be much better fine tuned to suit the vaper. Cost is a moot point here - you will save money using serviceable tanks, but people that get really into this can spend a fair bit on shiney new toys!

When it comes to the "juice" or liquid there's a hell of a lot of different things to consider - nicotine strength, flavour, the balance of "throat hit" vs vapour etc. But basically there are 3 ways to get the right juice which are buy ready made from a big importer (limited options), buy made to order from a smaller supplier (needs to steep for a few days), or buy the makings & mix your own (hassle, mess & steeping). These have been ordered from minimum hassle/maximum price to maximum hassle/minimum cost.

I'm a naturally lazy person and comparatively new to vaping, so I have a battery & disposable tank system, and am currently buying imported juice (Hangsen pineapple and Smartjuice Red tobacco flavour) which I know has steeped plenty while being shipped over and both brands have very good quality control. I will probably go directly to mostly mixing my own once I get a bit more money at the end of the month to buy all the bits & base liquids, though will probably continue buying the Smartjuice tobacco flavour because I like it so much! I doubt I will go down the road of serviceable tanks unless I get a nice glass one eventually."

Hullooo vaper vipers. Today is three weeks since I smoked a fag, longest ever non pregnant period of time in my adult life thanks to you lot and your threads Grin. I can't imagine ever smoking again, grim stuff, why on earth did I do that?

BlueSkyCrystal · 06/04/2014 15:21

Plenty, thanks for the link to the coil heads Thanks

SoleSource · 06/04/2014 16:20

Hello thanks for new thread.

I have perfected my vaping technique Grin

Loving it.

mrssmith79 · 06/04/2014 16:32

Am sneaking in to show off Smile . Been vaping since August and calculate I've saved around £1200 to date (have subtracted the initial kit outlay and weekly juice / clearomiser costs).. Chest clear, energy up and best of all my clothes / hair and car Blush don't stink of cigs.
Am vaping aniseed atm - lovely!

Does anyone buy the ce4 disposable clearomisers online? Am paying £5 each atm at a local vaping shop.

slartybartfast · 06/04/2014 16:49

thanks plenty Thanks

magimedi · 06/04/2014 17:43

Polter (lovely to see you here) I smoked rollies & I used both vaping & rollies for a week before ditching the rollies & suffered no problems.

Have also sent you a PM.

Well done mrssmith! Flowers

If you really really love CE4s, you can get them cheaper online, but there are a lot of leaky fakes around. These are proper quality ones (for CE4s Wink) and are 3 for £9.99 (I haven't checked p&p, you might need to buy a few to make it truly cheaper than what you have been paying)

However, there are much better clearos around now for less than what you are paying. Have a look at MyePack, they sell a very good range, are reasonably priced and fast delivery. These all have replaceable coils, some are rebuildable too if you fancy having a go. Lots of people like the iclear 16, which works the same way as a CE4 (fill from the top, long dangly wicks) but has two coils for more vapour - it will get through liquid faster though.

If you want something really cheap and cheerful, I still don't think you can do better than the GS-H2s I linked to upthread.

unicornpoop · 06/04/2014 18:22

Oooo a vape thread Smile been vaping a few months now and love that I dont smell of ciggies anymore and can breathe! I absolutely love libertyflights xo liquids, the raspberry coconut ice is amazing. And theres a vape shop near me that does hangsen liquids at 1.99 for 10mll and 4.99 for 30ml which I think is quite cheap? They're online at thebestecigarette.co.uk

gin got any advice on how do you go about beginning to mix your own? How much cheaper does it work out? Can you mix more flavour in to make them taste stronger because some flavours I just cant seem to taste even tho DP says they taste strong to him?

That's very cheap for a bricks and mortar shop! It's a penny less than I'm paying online at Premier ecigs. Looks like they have a good range of equipment too.

JazzyCardi · 06/04/2014 18:35

Hi everyone.

I posted on the previous thread asking for help and wanted to say thank you to all of you that replied and welcomed me to the thread Thanks

I have a vape shop close by so I'm going to go there tomorrow to see what they recommend. In the meantime I'm going to have a good read on here Smile

JazzyCardi · 06/04/2014 18:37

Oh, and also wanted to say congratulations to everyone that's given up tobacco. You've really inspired me.

QueenStromba · 06/04/2014 18:39

Allergic - the raspbery ripple is Jack the Ripple from T Juice.

Whoever was asking about the GS-H2 atties from Fast Tech here they are in 1.8 ohm and 2.2 ohm.

ginmakesitallok · 06/04/2014 18:41

I started mixing by getting a kit from alchemists cupboard. 100ml of 72mg nic is about £20 and is enough for 400 ml of 18mg liquid. VG and pg are cheap to buy (VG from boots is £1.29 for 200ml, pg is a couple of £ for 100ml). I use mostly t juice ready mixed concentrates, £3.50 ish for enough for 50ml. I reuse my bottles, and still use the syringes I got with my kit.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 06/04/2014 18:46

Have you tried those Queen? I bought some evod heads in the early days and found they didn't quite fit the gs-h2 - I jammed them in with some success but they weren't great. Those ones look more gs-h2 shaped than evod shaped though. The proper evod ones curve in a bit at the very bottom but those look like they are straight.

Massive congratulations to all the new folks who have stopped smoking Flowers

Cantabile · 06/04/2014 18:58

You know what I would like to do? I'd like to get all the links from every thread and put them all together. I think it will take a long time (and some will be dead by now). Do people think it would be worth it though?

ginmakesitallok · 06/04/2014 18:59

Sounds like much too much work cantabile!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 06/04/2014 19:03

It's the sort of thing that would be good if we had a vaping topic. I think they'd get lost on an AIBU thread, although we could stick them in the OP of new threads with Allergic's beginner's guide.

unicornpoop · 06/04/2014 19:06

Its the shop DP has always used so I was actually quite surprised to see hangsen selling at 7.99 for 30ml when i had a scout around online, I had assumed it was about 4.99 everywhere. The aniseed, cappuccino and caramel hangsen ones are my faves so far Smile

gin thanks for that, ill have a look on alchemists cupboard. That really is a lot cheaper! I was planning on trying mixing and then if i like it, getting an old drinks cabinet to do up and filling it with vape mixing stuff Grin

Allergictoironing · 06/04/2014 19:13

Queen thanks for that - it was me asking about the DS-H2 atties too Grin.

Might be worth waiting to see if the MN powers that be do let us have our own forum, then we could have a thread in there just for recommendations & links if they say yes?

Welcome to all the new people! The more people we get on here, the more attention we get which is all to the good. And the more chance of getting our own forum Wink

BlueSkyCrystal · 06/04/2014 19:47

Have just ordered the raspberry coconut ice - thanks unicorn Smile

magimedi · 06/04/2014 20:15

Cantabile - if you are happy to do that I think it would be amazing - and it could go into the start of a new thread.

How do you all feel about a dedicated vape section? I know we briefly talked about it a few weeks ago, but now we seem to have so many new vapers on board (YAY! WAY! HOORAY!) I really am starting to think that we could ask for a dedicated place of our own.

We could have threads for kit, threads for juices, threads for general chat etc etc.........

I am happy to put in a plea on 'Site Stuff' if everyone else is more or less in agreement.

mrssmith79 · 06/04/2014 20:33

Thanks plenty , will have a browse now. Thanks

ilovesooty · 06/04/2014 22:05

I can see many pluses to a dedicated forum, but do you think newbies will find us? It would certainly help in separating out the wealth of information though.

But please let's keep a general chat thread on it: it's so friendly. Grin
