Parcel arrived on the 2nd of January

it was a delivery that the delivery people put it under there doormat

I took it in in case of theft

We live in flats

I put a note threw their door

It's not been collectected

can I open it and keep it now?

maybe they didn't actually see the note you put through their door?

saintmerryweather · 31/01/2014 19:10

Of course you bloody well cant

Sickofthesnow · 31/01/2014 19:11

Could you not just knock on their door and pass it over?!

Sexnight · 31/01/2014 19:11

Shake it. Does it sound exciting?

DawnOfTheDee · 31/01/2014 19:11

um....yabu.

Maybe the note got lost / they haven't seen it. I'd just knock on their door if they haven't been round yet.

CustardOmlet · 31/01/2014 19:11

Have you knocked on their door? They might not have seen the note or thrown it away by mistake. Why would you hold on to someone else's property for a month?

IneedAsockamnesty · 31/01/2014 19:11

Of course not

Tallforadwarf · 31/01/2014 19:11

It might not be worth keeping, open it and see.

ThePinkOcelot · 31/01/2014 19:12

Ehhh, yes!!! They should have come for it though. I would just put it on their doorstep.

ShatnersBassoon · 31/01/2014 19:12

Stealing it really is your only option. No point knocking on the door to make sure they got the note.

Hmm
nipersvest · 31/01/2014 19:13

you do realise that while taking it in 'in case of theft', you did in fact steal it yourself as nobody asked you to take it. do you know the neighbours to speak to?

MrsCakesPremonition · 31/01/2014 19:13

I think you need to try a bit harder to hand it over to them before you decide to nick it. After all, the delivery company didn't ask you to look after it, your neighbours didn't ask you to look after it and one note can easily get mislaid muddled up with junk mail.

HappyMamaBear · 31/01/2014 19:13

Go and knock their door really quietly first.

Quoteunquote · 31/01/2014 19:13

Are they away or in hospital?

BMW6 · 31/01/2014 19:14

You have not even tried knocking on their door???

You def should not keep for yourself, but I think you fully intend to and are trying to justify the theft. Hmm

scurryfunge · 31/01/2014 19:14

Why would you want to keep something you know doesn't belong to you?

TortillasAndChocolate · 31/01/2014 19:16

I don't understand why you didn't leave it under their doormat?!! I'm hoping this is lighthearted and not a genuine AIBU!

BrianTheMole · 31/01/2014 19:16

Knock on their door and give it back.

TheWitTank · 31/01/2014 19:18

Really? Of course you can't. Go and knock on the door or just put it back under their doormat where it was originally left.

kilmuir · 31/01/2014 19:19

But you stole it from them.
Get off your arse and take it round to them

RoseRedder · 31/01/2014 19:19

no i didn't stal it

The delivery man left it at their door at put the doormat on top of it

I took it in as other people might steal it and put a note threw the door and have knocked regularly

RoseRedder · 31/01/2014 19:20

I haven't fucking stolen it

deardarlingpleaaeexcusemywriti · 31/01/2014 19:21

I hope if you open it, it ends up being something totally useless to you, like pile cream or something. And then you get in a big sweat about having stolen it.

bellablot · 31/01/2014 19:22

So you took it from THEIR doormat and intend on keeping it? Erm, what part of this is NOT theft?
