Parcel arrived on the 2nd of January

it was a delivery that the delivery people put it under there doormat

I took it in in case of theft

We live in flats

I put a note threw their door

It's not been collectected

can I open it and keep it now?

PUT IT BACK WHERE YOU FOUND IT!!!!
Bloody hell, it's painfully simple.

FourAndDone · 31/01/2014 19:58

Sparkling I'm sure after 4 weeks if it was life saving medication they would have either collected from rose or claimed it was never delivered on which case they would be sent more.
The courier shouldn't have left it there In the first place.

monkeyfacegrace · 31/01/2014 19:59

Open it. Im dying to know what it is!

TortillasAndChocolate · 31/01/2014 19:59

I am wondering what it is now. But I bet it would be an anticlimax if you did open it. It's probably just a replacement water filter cartridge, or budgie food, or a refill pack of staples.

FourAndDone · 31/01/2014 20:00

Is it big?
Does it rattle?
Does it smell Confused

Logg1e · 31/01/2014 20:00

You haven't done the right thing. You stole it when they were expecting it, and now you're going to leave it there when they aren't?

TortillasAndChocolate · 31/01/2014 20:01

I've changed my mind from my first post by the way. It's clear why you didn't leave it there - you've explained.

Open it. And tell us what it is. And if it's loads of cash, share it with the people who said open it Grin

You've got to admire the delivery person craftily hiding the parcel. Under a mat.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 20:03

Exactly MsLT. Shock

FourAndDone · 31/01/2014 20:03

MrsLT- a pharmacy van would deliver medication and they wouldn't leave it under a doormat.

MsLT · 31/01/2014 20:03

How big is the parcel OP?

ShatnersBassoon · 31/01/2014 20:03

I think legally you have the right to take anything if otherwise a druggie would take it. That will be my defence for being caught stealing Lynx in Home Bargains. Just waiting for a court date. Fingers crossed...

KirstyJC · 31/01/2014 20:04

Put another note though the door, and sellotape another note to the outside of the door - they would get one of them.

Explain in the note that you have tried knocking for the last month and no reply, so please can they come and collect it. Tell them that if they don't collect it then you will need to return it.

Wait a few more days, then if no reply you can send it back. If there is a return address on the box, use that, if not then open the box to get the return address from the paperwork and reseal the box and return it.

It is a shame they have left it so long - most places have a policy for non-delivered items and the time might have expired by now.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2014 20:04

YY describe the parcel to us so we can guess what it is. What's the postmark?

MsLT · 31/01/2014 20:04

Four I don't think sparkling was being serious!

MamaPain · 31/01/2014 20:05

Do you live next to them or just on the same floor/block?

If you don't live next door and you can't get them to answer I would leave it with one of their next door neighbours who presumably will hear/be more aware of when the people are home. I would drop an additional note through the door explaining.

Or open it and find a return address?

Do they definitely speak English, maybe they didn't understand your previous note?

FourAndDone · 31/01/2014 20:05

I would have thought medication would need a signature aswell.Smile

Yes it was tongue in cheek MsLT. I don't think life saving medication is delivered like that. Grin

FourAndDone · 31/01/2014 20:06

Really? It didn't come across as jokeyBlush

MsLT · 31/01/2014 20:06
