To ask advice on drastic pubic hair removal- how do you do it?

I realise it is not to everyone's taste, but I have decided that I would like to remove most of my pubic hair. I've read several threads in the subject, and I realise how controversial it is, but it's what I want to do.

I'm naturally pretty hairy, currently shave around sides, trim the rest.

I definitely want to remove everything 'underneath'; most, if not all of front, and I have a tricky 'between buttocks' bit to deal with.

I'm not sure whether to wax, shave or use cream- or maybe a combination.

I would really appreciate some advice from MNers who do this- what method do you use, how often do you do it, any other tips.

Total hair removal like what you are describing will mean a hollywood wax. It takes everything off, it is similar to a brazilian but that leaves a narrow landing strip on the front.

I would wax as it will leave you hair free for a few weeks (depending on hair growth). The hairs will grow back finer with bald patches but this will be after several continuous waxes. Do not shave in between & exfoliate regularly.

Trim all the very long hairs but leave enough for the wax to coat & grip.

Personally, I'd rather shave than wax. As far as I know, most creams don't advise using on "sensitive areas"

If you don't fancy getting your bits waxed then what I do when I'm deforesting, is trim everything as close to the skin as possible, then I wack a load of Veet cream on, let that do its thing. Following the Veet I then shave any remaining hair. Works a treat, but very faffy.

Why on earth would you want to remove any hair between your buttocks? Apart from anything else, I would have thought the regrowth would be agony.

Definitely wax - couldn't be doing with the itchy regrowth that comes with other methods! I lop it all off - jusr ve prepared to contort yourself into positions you didn't think possible

curlew, I'm afraid that I'm destined to have long straight pubes (you did ask). So those in and around bottom cheeks are very visible. Trimming makes them itchy anyway, so I figured I may as well remove them.

Having fast growing incredibly straight haIs hair feels like a blessing, I just wish this didn't extend to my pubic hair .

That should say head hair, not hals hair.

I wax (it really hurts but you get used to it).

Re growth after waxing is way better than shaving. The only issue you might get us ingrown hairs, so exfoliate regularly.

Immac..just be careful in certain areas then I use the cleancut intimate shaver which has no exposed blades but keeps everything smooth and fuzz free without any pain. Plus I don't fancy exposing my hooha to a waxing therapist I don't care how many she's seen!

Don't do it yourself! Go to a salon. I get a Brazilian about every 6 weeks.

If you're thinking of attempting this method, here are my top tips:

As screwedup suggests, it's best to trim la booshe as close as you can before even thinking about applying the Veet.

Veet isn't recommended for maintaining the lady garden but as long as you are very careful, you should be ok this is the voice of bitter experience. I ever so slightly touched myself near the labia and I was in tears with the pain, I couldn't sit down all night and it was agony to pee for about a week! Buy the one for sensitive skin too.

So, what I now tend to do, is slip an old thong on, when I've finished trimming, as the gusset offers some protection and it also has the added benefit of acting like a fanny stencil, allowing you to 'mark off' where you don't want to go past IYSWIM?

When the Veeting is complete, shave any hair remaining that you want to get rid of and voila a naice topiaried lady lawn

I would get waxed in a salon - just too agonising if you do it wrong yourself!!

Or you can do what I did - save up (did take quite a long time) and get lasered. It is honestly the best thing I ever did. I was like a yeti before and now I simply don't have to think about it ever. Did it 5 years ago and have had to have one top up since with the reemergence of about 5 hairs. It is brilliant on three counts 1) I am no longer hideously hairy, 2) I found waxing my bikini line agonising and had lots of ingrown hairs which is simply not an issue anymore and 3) my wax appts were inevitably the day after those hot days when I wanted to swim and therefore couldn't because of the sideburns on my inner thighs. Tis life changing, honestly!

Do a very small test area if you use Veet or any other cream.

An allergic reaction would be agony.

I go to a salon as they can get to the hard-to-reach areas. Once had them do the back too - what a mistake! Unbearable itchy week of regrowth.

get some good quality razors and just shave it. its the least painful, least drastic and works for most people

I do what you want and have for years, I shave twice weekly. takes practice but I couldnt have a wax tooo painful.

Book a lycon wax in with a good salon and explain what you want taking off. Or book a Hollywood (everything off) then say you want a small landing strip on the front left when you get there as you'll be in the Hollywood price and time bracket.

Lycon wax is the wax that goes on hot, and is left to cool on your skin before being removed. Material strips aren't used. The wax sticks to the hairs and not really the skin - more akin to a bit of a stinging feeling rather than any pain. I've never had any bruising or blotches like with trad waxing.

A good salon will do a Hollywood pretty quickly - will take you ages to do and you won't do as good a job. It's not embarrassing, the beauty therapist will be seeing many women a day!

With regards to I grown hairs - I am pretty prone to them. Tend Skin is a life changer! Buy some and use it no matter what removal method you go for.

Always gets taken off in a Hollywood. I've never noticed the re growth at all - it's not spiky and rough like with shaving.

I second whois and advise you to book a Lycon wax. Itis expensive but the best thing you can do for your bits. Other option is to do laser. Don't fall into the shaving trap...it only works if you have fine light hair and very little of it, otherwise it's an agony. I'm quite hairy so I should know!

Veet cream all the way for me.

No pain, no itching when it grows back.

I recommend the cream rather than the mousse, because that's messy and difficult to be precise with.
