To ask advice on drastic pubic hair removal- how do you do it?

I realise it is not to everyone's taste, but I have decided that I would like to remove most of my pubic hair. I've read several threads in the subject, and I realise how controversial it is, but it's what I want to do.

I'm naturally pretty hairy, currently shave around sides, trim the rest.

I definitely want to remove everything 'underneath'; most, if not all of front, and I have a tricky 'between buttocks' bit to deal with.

I'm not sure whether to wax, shave or use cream- or maybe a combination.

I would really appreciate some advice from MNers who do this- what method do you use, how often do you do it, any other tips.

why do people seem to think its a better option to rip hair out by the roots rather than just give it the once over with a razor a couple of times a week in the bath/shower.
Its not a huge area. It takes minutes and you can just do it again when it starts growing back.
Ive had mine professionally waxed and within a week i had regrowth, so ended up shaving it anyway. Plus the last time I had it done ive had a nightmare with getting spots in the area which are refusing to heal because of the heat and humidity. Wish id stuck to shaving.

Agree with Worra that it is obviously personal preference but other than that I am completely with Puppy. In fact I do (sometimes) do the underarm region and shin areas. I'm not proud of that but they are on public view from time to time. Why on earth would I want to make the area that is only ever seen by me and my DH look like a little girl's?

Okay I get that sometimes you need to do something about the upper thigh area, but surely trimming would cover that not a problem for me as my upper thighs are so disgusting with or without stray pubes that they ALWAYS remain covered

Well firstly (and I can only speak for myself) I'm 44yrs old, I've had 3 vaginal births and if I had a little girl whose vagina resembled mine (with or without hair) I would book her an appointment with a gynecologist.

Other than that, (again, speaking for myself) it feels more comfortable, cool and wonderfully sensitive during sex.

At the moment I'm embracing the bush - but when I wasn't, I can assure you my fanjo looked nothing like any younger than it does not.

And OP, if your hair grows fast there is no point shaving. You will have about 12 hours of smoothness before the stubble starts!

OP, I do mine myself and I go for the same results you want: all off underneath, bum, and landing strip.

I use the Nads microwave red hot wax. It's about £10 and lasts 3 full waxes. I've never had a professional wax but I get perfect results, although it takes me about 90mins. Just take 3 painkillers first and it's fine.

Bum doesn't hurt AT ALL. Only bit I find stingy is the area near the front of the underneath where the hair sort of changes direction (well, mine does anyway!)

The little sachets of Nair sensitive are excellent and pretty cheap too.

Only takes ten minutes. When you shower it off a gentle rub round with a muslin cloth works really well to take it all away nicely.

I can highly recommend Skin Doctors Ingrown Go lotion (boots sell it) to dab on your skin to help with ingrown hairs (as well as regular exfoliating/moisturising), a little goes a long way and be careful to not get it erm how can I say...on your inner bits as it's quite lethal!!

Go to a salon and ask for a Hollywood. Tell them it is the first time you have had one (and have a glass of wine before you go to take the edge off!)
The first time you get anything waxed is the most painful, because the hairs are quite firmly rooted, but it isn't that bad.

I don't know where you are geographically, but try and find a waxing salon, rather than a beautician that also does waxing. The places that just do waxes (try a sunbed shop, they tend to have them) are much quicker and well-practiced. The beautician/spa places can obviously do waxing as well, but will be a bit slower and take a bit longer.

Another vote for a professional Lycon wax. Please don't try to DIY a Hollywood on your first try, it would be agony. Lycon are definitely the least painful and most effective.

I've had 3 laser treatments (of a course of 5) on my lady parts and it's worked very well - I was told I was a good candidate. The more pale your skin and darker your hair (i.e. contrast) the more effective the laser will be.

It's hard for me to say whether it's worked 100% because I have to shave once every 4 weeks just before the treatment (no waxing allowed during laser treatment) but it seems to be barely growing back at this point - it's been 7 days since I shaved and the hair is probably a mm long.

I found waxing to be incredibly painful, but I have a low pain threshold.

I'm always and thrice with a fair bit of and throw in at these threads. Before MN I had absolutely no idea that so many women were walking around with baldy foofs. I did this once a quarter of a century ago when pissed silly and boy, did I learn my lesson

I finished a laser hair removal course last yeah and it's the best thing I ever did. It worked well on me (I kept the middle bit though so not completely gone!) and I never have to think about it ever again
