To ask advice on drastic pubic hair removal- how do you do it?

I realise it is not to everyone's taste, but I have decided that I would like to remove most of my pubic hair. I've read several threads in the subject, and I realise how controversial it is, but it's what I want to do.

I'm naturally pretty hairy, currently shave around sides, trim the rest.

I definitely want to remove everything 'underneath'; most, if not all of front, and I have a tricky 'between buttocks' bit to deal with.

I'm not sure whether to wax, shave or use cream- or maybe a combination.

I would really appreciate some advice from MNers who do this- what method do you use, how often do you do it, any other tips.

Yay! Lets stop ignoring them and answer back, we're empowered women are we not?

I was iffy about total hair removal having been raised by feminists to believe it was somehow paedophilic. Utter balls! I have two children and my body bears the battle scars. I prefer to be smooth down under, it's easier to dress and feels better to me. It's really not any one else's business but I am certainly not ashamed. Feminism is about having the right to make choices, not being dictated to and meeting other people's expectations strong woman face

Easier to dress, the mind boggles I've never heard that people can't get their clothes on because of a hairy minge, you can always tuck it in your socks

"you can always tuck it in your socks"

If that's what's comfortable for you then do it, I'll go to the barrier for your right to do it.

Do people not swim? Or wear fancy underwear? Or are pant moustaches de rigueur in some parts?

Sorry, sinking to their level, but really!

No one has ever gone running screaming at the sight of a stray hair! its all natural and there for a reason.

"Thanks, you just keep on fighting the good fight, conforming to the feminist stereotype that if it's not your opinion it's the wrong one and women are so fucking stupid that if they don't tow the party line it's because they're too thick to make their own minds up. Girl fucking power."
You're free to do what you like. I'm free to form an opinion. Sorry if you don't like it, but if you're comfortable with the notion that women ought to be free to rip their pubes out by the roots, but not comfortable with the notion of others having an opinion about it, then the one with the problem, with the greatest possible respect, is you.

Oh and btw ... easier to dress?
Yes, I've often noticed those pesky pubes getting in the way when I try and zip my jeans up.
Are you people quite mad?

But these threads always turn into a debate, because those who disagree with women choosing to remove their body hair can't seem to just shrug and say "each to their own, the thread's not relevant to me so I won't post on it."

Put simply, it is nicer to lick something smooth than something hairy. I may not speak for everyone, but DH certainly agrees, so it serves me quite well to keep things smooth. (And before anyone else queries this - if your partner only licks the bits that are naturally hairless, you are being short changed.)

Anyway, I normally shave. I have been trying veet recently, but find it has to be on for the full 10 min and doesn't do a great job, it leaves me stubbly so I then have to shave anyway. I used to go for regular waxing and would do that again but can't really afford it at the moment, so shaving it is.

" not conforming to any norms here"
I note how insistent the pube removal brigade always is that their choices are not due to any outside influences. Leaving aside the obvious point that such insistence tends to suggest the reverse, perhaps that's true. I can't help but think that left to yourself, genuinely not subject to outside influences, the removal of all your pubic hair would be unlikely to strike you as a priority.

Having lived in a tropical country, I can confirm that dealing with pubes on at least some level, even if just trimming, is miles more comfortable. If I were a nun, I'd choose to do at least something with it. So yes, there is an external factor in my decision, which is how comfortable I am.

So how do you tell op to deal with exfoliating when she's talking abut inbetween buttocks. how?

My OH does mine....he prefers it hairless, I can't be arsed, so he does it....and very nice job he does too !

fuckwittery have you tried full-on exfoliation? It's not going to work well with the shaving, I'd imagine, you may need to let things grow out a bit to avoid rashes. I use apricot scrub, is it St Ives? It's been around forever, in combination with a rough towel. Not for bikini but for annoying red upper arm spots. A bit of umph will help the hairs find their way through again Smile

This is v interesting thread. I don't have much ( nearly zero) body hair - never have done. Arms have none, armpits get shaved once a month if that, legs get the Christmas shave and the summer shave .. And the bikini area is perfectly formed lightly dusted and I've only ever had to take scissors and trim a few strays or longuns.
Lol this is not a stealth boast btw... Just explaining why I am so grateful to read this as have 16yo with the Forest of Arden or MJ's Afro circa ABC protruding from her pants and of such a coarse and bushy nature that in a bikini ( and she can only just stuff it in the short shorts style) it looks like she's concealing man bits ( iykwim).
We'd not want to go for the full monty but a bit of topiary to tame it back so its not spilling out of her knickers and will now look at some sort of lasering for the sides/ bottom and just trimming the rest so it's not so protruding. Or could they sort of wax that but I'd be worried for her about the itchy regrowh thing...
Anyone done this. Certainly not looking for Brazilian or anything Hollywood just neater pubes for my lovely DD.

"but not comfortable with the notion of others having an opinion about it,"

I said earlier, any woman should be able to have her pubes however she wants. I have no problem with your option, I have problems with personal attacks against posters for expressing theirs.

"I note how insistent the pube removal brigade always is that their choices are not due to any outside influences"

I think you'll find I didn't insist that at all and noted how there was without social conditioning with regards to body hair. I simply asked why the "pube removal brigade" was considered so stupid that we can't be aware of the conditioning and decide to do it anyway without being called stupid or someone insisting we must have mental health issues.

OP here! In my case this has nothing to do with being more appealing to a partner. I'm single, recently disentangled myself from a very difficult 10 year relationship. I'm intending to stay single for some time (or for ever if noone comes along).

I wanted to do this for myself. My pubic hair was practically wild, I fancied removing most of it. I'm happy with the result, although its looking a bit stubbly!! For me it feels more comfortable and cooler, and I wore a bikini at the weekend without worrying about my pubes escaping all over the place.

OhMerGerd My daughter is hairier than me as well, due to me marrying a brunette. She's only 12 but I noticed she was wearing skin coloured tights under her shorts and (finally!) cottoned on to it being about leg hair. Obviously this was a sensitive matter to broach and I didn't want her to start shaving. I got her some silky mitts from Boots, they're fantastic for keeping the mass of hair down and she's happily trotting around in shorts now Smile. Re the pubes, would you consider veet hair removal cream? I know it's horrible chemicals but less painful than waxing with slower appearing, softer, less stubbly regrowth. A trim all over and then veet around the edges should get her good to go with minimal fuss.

shave down there. Same as I shave my armpit hair and my leg hair. I've been doing it for years. Started shaving before I had a serious boyfriend, before I'd seen porn, etc. I just prefer not to be hairy. That's my personal preference and hasn't been influenced by anyone but myself.

well said I have been shaving legs armpits since the mid80s when i was a teenager I didnt know what porn was or a boyfriend for that matter I just didnt like armpit hair women are allowed to have a preference to their OWN hair without it being about sex and men
