To ask advice on drastic pubic hair removal- how do you do it?

I realise it is not to everyone's taste, but I have decided that I would like to remove most of my pubic hair. I've read several threads in the subject, and I realise how controversial it is, but it's what I want to do.

I'm naturally pretty hairy, currently shave around sides, trim the rest.

I definitely want to remove everything 'underneath'; most, if not all of front, and I have a tricky 'between buttocks' bit to deal with.

I'm not sure whether to wax, shave or use cream- or maybe a combination.

I would really appreciate some advice from MNers who do this- what method do you use, how often do you do it, any other tips.

Snoot... This just goes to prove ...' You don't know what you don't know'. Just googled silky mitts ..I'd never heard of them before. Not sure if they do pubic versions as all this rubbing in circular motions one way and then the other might be a bit much down there! but definitely going to get for her legs ... Thankyou

Laser hair removal, without a doubt. I shaved for years but couldn't stand the regrowth and little spots etc, so tried a wax, only to discover I'm allergic to it. (You can't imagine what my armpits looked like after that, or the pain). Anyway last month I finished my laser treatments and I'm over the moon with the results, my best investment in years.

Talk about shallow.

I remember reading as a teenager (I'm 36) that a straight landing strip would make you look thinner! It was absolutely unheard of when I was at school to remove all hair, known as a "shaven haven" and the preserve of porn stars and prossies. I think it's much more normal now, especially among those younger than I. I read an interview in mid-2000s with Gwyneth Paltrow saying she'd had a Brazilian and it had changed her life, I was intrigued! I must say it has changed my life entirely for the better in that small sphere so, thank you Gwyneth!

sonly it's cheaper and quicker than a facelift only slightly less painful though GrinHmm

It's only a general rule, but pubes definitely have fashions. You were meant to have a ridiculous poker straight thin strip when I was 18/21ish. Then we had vajazzales and the world became unknown to me so I stopped caring.

So the older you are the bushier you are, I must be 125.

I couldn't tell you. I'm nearly 30 if that helps. I know of one friend who does this as she recommended someone to me when I mentioned I needed a beautician, but of my other friends I couldn't tell you who does and who doesn't. Friend who recommended is 53.

I think age is a big factor. I chatted with a nurse about it once, and she said when they come in for their smears you get less hair the younger they are. I'm thirties and keep a well trimmed smattering up front so fit into her theory.

Only one of my RL friends owns up to getting her bikini line waxed, and even she doesn't have arse fur.

Is it an age thing because NON of my friends own up to this oddness.

You'd be surprised Sonly, a good waxer can make the whole process rather painless.

I could embrace nature and sometimes I do, I have hobbit feet and really don't care Grin. I never wear silky socks and I live in Dr Martins so I just don't bother to groom my feet in the same way. Some times nature's natural way suits me, some times it doesn't.

I would need some serious therapy to learn to love what nature gave me!

It's all shades of spectrum isn't it? I might be ok to embrace some curly whisps of arse/pubic hair, but as it is I just can't accept the jungle nature has bestowed on various parts of my body. I think it's at the extreme end of normal and I don't like it for various reasons - some hygenic (dingleberrys are attractive on no-one never mind periods) and some social.

Sorry, but I don't have the confidence/inclination to be a moustached, pubic thigh-covered front runner a movement to accept being as nature intended when I have the option of ripping the suckers out by the root and feeling confident and happy about facing the world.

No, UK! I only went to that salon once, I've had one Brazilian and one Hollywood. I don't recall doing the face-down-cheek-part manouevre for the Hollywood.

Wouldn't it just be easier to embrace what nature gave you? It must be so painful

I must say that as a blond I probably can't understand the issues of my more hirsute sisters. We're all the same though when you've pulled your knees to your chest for an unknown 20 year old to examine your anus Grin

Zola I'm intrigued by your waxer's technique! Is this in SA? Don't think I'd care either way but was it more effective? I don't have a whole lot going on round there, maybe it's more effective if there's more hair?

Bluemonkey if you're shy/worried I can highly recommend seeking out an Asian beauticians, they completely understand the body hair issue and won't be at all shocked at any area you show them with a good covering of fur. They'll still have all the usual 'Hollywood' and 'Brazilian' options, but won't have that slightly disturbed look in their eye that some young fair beauticians do when you present your very own National Trust Forest to them!

You can save the education for when you're a bit more confident Grin

Arms hooked under knees? I had a Brazilian once where I had to lie on my front and hold my buttocks apart with my hands. Shock

Ghastly however you're doing it.

If you get a good waxer they will do everything whilst carrying on a conversation about where you're going on holiday Grin. I tend to ask if they'd prefer commando or knickers, I'd go with their paper ones personally to avoid wax on your own. For the crack they ask you to hook your arms under your knees and pull them towards your chest. It's not the most dignified position but they all have it done themselves, they understand the position you're in Wink

I prefer commando as I've stopped caring but I did go with knickers for the first few years. My waxer this time carried on a conversation about how envious she was of my sparse regrowth and she couldn't wait for her's to be the same. It's really not at all bad once you get used to it.

Blue, I am proud to say I have a hairy arse crack! No one will gag or judge. Body hair is normal and the professionals see it day in day out.

You move in various positions and if you don't want to show the full lot I've never known a good beautician who wasn't happy for me to leave my knickers on and just move them aside to let her get to where she needed to be.

FWIW the arse crack for me is painless.

I've always wanted to ask some questions about this but never been brave enough but since everyone else is here goes......

I have a very hairy bum (between cheeks outer part is peachy smooth) is it really common for them to wax between your bum crack? I.e I do t actually have to ask them to do this they would just go ahead I booked a Hollywood?

How common is it to have a hairy bum? They won't all gag when they see me?

I'm also pretty hairy underneath, so this will mean lying with my legs in a "smear test" position will it not?

Do people really show the woman as much as they show their husbands?

I'm getting fed up trying to shave and not getting the right results so need to find out all the details before I decide if I'm brave enough or not

I think you need a good friend, possibly wielding a sterilised needle. Whereabouts are you? Maybe someone on here could lend a hand! My DH has helped me out in the past, I think it's the only way forward.
