AIBU?

to not understand or find 'drunk' threads funny?

I really don't understand drunk threads....

When I've been out drinking and I get home I either go straight to bed (without taking my make-up off eww) or chuck a pint of water and then go to bed.

I have no effort to do anything, but crash out in bed.

I have to gather the will power to brush my teeth nevermind switching on my laptop and starting a thread. As it really is the furthest thing from my mind.

Also I do realise that people use their phones to start threads. But when I'm out having fun with friends or my partner drinking, thats generally exactly what I'm doing. I don't think - hang on a second and whip my phone out and start a thread on mumsnet.

And I just don't find posts such as -

weifjwp uwrh fvh i ma soooooo durnk!!! wefpwehf

Funny.

Aibu?

I missed the part where I implied every person who goes out and gets drunk ends up with their knickers around their ankles. That was just an example of how people can make pathetic fools of themselves when they go out and get drunk. Making a fool of yourself online is a step up from making a fool of yourself in RL.

Sorry I am also talking about threads that people start when drunk with incoherent wording, not the actual drunk thread.

Making a fool of yourself online means nothing, at least at MN.

Name change and no one knows you're a fool.

If you are a fool for posting drunk. Which I don't think you are.

What last night? No I didn't. When I was a teen I got drunk once which was enough to put me off for life. It's not my thing really.

Makes sense, I love alcohol, I have a great time drinking, and although I may make a tit of myself on occasion, i don't see that as a bad thing Xmas Grin

It's not your thing...yet you know all about drunk people with their knickers round their ankles outside nightclubs?

It's not for you - that's fine.

No need to be so rude about people that do though.

Fine. I'll stop being rude.

I don't find them particularly funny either, but other people do horses for courses etc.

And it's easy to tell from the title so I just don't read it.

I don't think it contribute to drinking culture though I think it is a symptom not a cause.
