When we are still 30 mins from home and she's whingey?

I would probably do it - much to the disgust of those around no doubt. Rather that than a very sore bum. Depends on the age of the child I suppose. I expect you'll get people telling you to get off the bus though.

BetterChoicesChair · 24/06/2012 18:54

Ew. YABU.

eastendywendy · 24/06/2012 18:54

Was it a dirty nappy? If so I wouldn't have done it - not sure if that makes you Unreasonable though....

HipHopOpotomus · 24/06/2012 18:55

Is it a stinker? How many people are on the bus? I wouldn't unless I felt it really needed to be done and i had some privacy. And then I would do it on my knee. Fast!

DefiniteMaybe · 24/06/2012 18:55

my dcs have steel bum skin so could probably wait til we got home. But if it was a choice between a discreet bus bum change or sore bum I'd change it.

nizlopi · 24/06/2012 18:56

Yes, unreasonable. Especially if its poo.

GeraldineAubergine · 24/06/2012 18:56

If I were on a packed bus 30 mins from home, I would absolutely love someone changing a stinky nappy. Would make the journey complete.

AuntyMo · 24/06/2012 18:56

Grim. No way.

HazeltheMcWitch · 24/06/2012 18:57

Yup, I think YABU. Especially if it's a dirty nappy - that would just be foul.

amieis · 24/06/2012 18:57

Its only wet!!!! And there's 6 people... 4 of which are children

OP posts:
fedupworking · 24/06/2012 18:57

Would you wipe your own bum on the bus ?????

Jenniferturkington · 24/06/2012 18:57

Yes yabu. Either wait or get off.

eurochick · 24/06/2012 18:57

YABU. Buses are shitty enough without adding to the experience with actual excrement.

BlackOutTheSun · 24/06/2012 18:58

If its a smelly one, surely its better to change it then wrap in a nappy bag

tinkerbel72 · 24/06/2012 18:59

unnecessary and not pleasant

knowitallstrikesagain · 24/06/2012 18:59

Can it not wait? If there are 2 adults on the bus and you can do it without shoving a stinky wet nappy into someone's face, go ahead. But I still think YABU.

(Am assuming that even though it's only wet, it will be stinky, as if it's not that wet you wouldn't bother to change it)

Nanny0gg · 24/06/2012 18:59

Why wasn't it changed before you got on the bus?
Doesn't it take hours for the nappies of today to get so sodden they cause nappy rash?

GhouliaYelps · 24/06/2012 19:00

oh no! absolutely not that is vile

Westcountrylovescheese · 24/06/2012 19:00

OP you know you are being a bit unreasonable, or you wouldn't have asked. Did someone confront you?

MammaTJ · 24/06/2012 19:00

YANBU, if it were a shitty one, then better the matter dealt with and contained in a plastic bag than wafting around a squirming child.

Also, my babies bums were not cast iron and if left in a nappy for any longer than a minute, they would break out in terrible rashes!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 24/06/2012 19:01

Changing it before you get on the bus isn't much good if the child does a wee while on the bus

curiositykitten · 24/06/2012 19:02

You're not being unreasonable. If it's needing changed, it might not be pleasant for everyone else, but your DC deserves it to be changed.

As for who asked 'would you wipe your arse on the bus?', I'd imagine the OP wouldn't shit herself on the bus...

loopyluna · 24/06/2012 19:03

If there are only 2 other adults, could you ask them if they'd mind?

ChasedByBees · 24/06/2012 19:04

How come you need to change a wet nappy?

runnindownadream · 24/06/2012 19:05

I've changed a stinky nappy on the bus once in order to stop a mass poo escape - luckily there was only us and our family on it and it was open topped.

Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures.
