When we are still 30 mins from home and she's whingey?

30 mins would have been too long for my dd to have waited before her skin began to break down.

lovebunny · 24/06/2012 19:15

oh, don't do that! how horrible for the other passengers.

YouOldSlag · 24/06/2012 19:15

i see children being changed in car boots or back seats with doors open all the time, what is the difference?

The difference is that the car windows are open, as is the boot and it's not a confined space full of strangers who don't love your baby.

The strangers have paid for their journey and should not have to endure it in a miasma of poo.

Changing your own baby in your own ventilated car in which you alone then travel is not the same at all.

dangerousliaison · 24/06/2012 19:16

amieis change her, please dont leave her to cry x

TheGravyTrain · 24/06/2012 19:16

YANBU. I've done it before and I'd do it again. DS gets terrible rashes and I would rather offend a bus load of random people than risk an outbreak on my sons bottom.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:16

IT'S NOT A POOEY NAPPY

dangerousliaison · 24/06/2012 19:17

IT IS A WET NAPPY!!!!!!!

and it could be the same if it is next to a picnic area for instance

AllieZ · 24/06/2012 19:18

YABU.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:18

I think, a discrete change of a wet nappy vs enduring a baby crying for 30 minutes - changing the nappy wins

P.S IT'S A WET NAPPY Grin

FutureNannyOgg · 24/06/2012 19:18

I'd rather a discrete nappy change happened during a bus journey than 30 minutes of crying baby.

Greenshadow · 24/06/2012 19:18

Do most people really change their DC's nappies every time they wee?

Most the time we never knew - just did it every now and again and never had any rash issues.

Leave it OP. She'll survive.

dangerousliaison · 24/06/2012 19:19

I have to walk down the road looking at dog shitting and dog shit on the pavement thats far more offencive than a child having its bottom changed.

YouOldSlag · 24/06/2012 19:19

I stand corrected, it was just wee. But even so, changing in the back of a car is NOT the same as a bus!

I would probably change a very wet nappy on a bus if I had a seat to myself and could be discreet.

dangerousliaison · 24/06/2012 19:19

oh and it is only a WET NAPPY!!!!

amieis · 24/06/2012 19:20

Dd is 4mo, and is odd, doesn't moan if its poo but will cry as soon as she's wet... No nappy rash and docs can't find a cause jamie

OP posts:
JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:21

That's surprising. I wonder if she has cystitis? Sorry - a bit ignorant about girl babies as I have 32 boys

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:22

32 ???? Bloody hell - call the Guiness Book of Records. I meant 2

YouOldSlag · 24/06/2012 19:23

32 boys? jamie, I couldn't do your job! Smile

YouOldSlag · 24/06/2012 19:23

Wrong thread, that should have been on the "I couldn't do your job" thread. Sorry, v tired.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:24
Grin
SecretPlansAndCleverTricks · 24/06/2012 19:24

no, no, no.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:24

Secretplans

If I told you it was only a WET NAPPY, would that change your mind?

thegoldenfool · 24/06/2012 19:27

seems excessive for a wet nappy but then my baby didn´t have nappy rash so I shouldn´t judge Grin - if the baby is unhappy it doesn´t smell and apart from a small glance of baby bum what is the harm??

but even though smelly I think it is worth doing for a poo, when very little they don´t smell nasty but it can get everywhere so often not a choice, when older it stinks anyway so better a clean nappy and bum and a bag round the dirty one

ChasedByBees · 24/06/2012 19:27

Ohdearnigel well I guess yes, and so did many other people on the thread. My 6mo seems to wee all the time but I change her nappy roughly every two hours ( although leave it on all the through the night). She doesn't moan and doesn't have nappy rash, so yes I thought it was odd that a wet one would need to be changed.

As the OP says her LO cries when it's wet though I can see her problem. If I could do it very discreetly (and not been seen) and it wasn't going to smell I might, but I'd be quick and very embarrassed

soozeedol · 24/06/2012 19:29

must be a stinker so I might just ask/inform immediate passengers if they would mind...if poor little DC is so uncomfortable that it can't wait

It depends on how urgent it is...you know yourself how serious a situ you are in

I'd rather wait though if possible
