I can't believe people are saying they would change a shitty nappy on a bus.

The world doesn't revolve around your child's arse.

OP, it may just have been wee, but you are still being unreasonable. It's just grim.

DonInKillerHeels · 24/06/2012 19:05

If it's only wet, it doesn't need changing.

mumnosbest · 24/06/2012 19:05

Yanbu.
A smelly one is less smelly in a nappy bag anyway. A wet one, especially on a quiet bus should be no problem. Bit different on a crowded bus if youve got dc laod across your neighbours lap!

DonInKillerHeels · 24/06/2012 19:06

(I mean, doesn't need changing immediately.)

Ephiny · 24/06/2012 19:06

YABU Shock

TrudiRed · 24/06/2012 19:06

Thats exactly what I was going to say curiosity! And my child can sometimes do HUGE wees too - although I probably wouldn't change that unless it leaked. I would change a poopy one though - for the babies sake. It would already stink the bus out so whats the difference? Or should I get off and walk home?

Springforward · 24/06/2012 19:08

I would if it had leaked, or if I knew DS' bottom had already been sore, I think. I would probably have apologised to the rest of the passengers though.

dangerousliaison · 24/06/2012 19:09

depends on age and how discrete you can be, if a tiny baby in my experince its not likely to stink and can be put in a nappy sack and baby changed with no one seeing in the pram or on back seat.

if it is a squirmy toddler then may be harder, but as you say its only wet you could possibly change at the back with dc standing and no one noticing.

I must say I have done both on the bus a dirty babys nappy and a wet toddlers, I doubt anyone even noticed either.

Chandon · 24/06/2012 19:09

no, it is not normal to do that!

LoopyLoopsCorgiPoops · 24/06/2012 19:09

I would, depending on age of baby etc. - if it can be done quickly on lap. On seat, maybe not unless you have a mat. Poo - not if can be helped, but if it can't I'd just do it.

Sirzy · 24/06/2012 19:09

Why would you need to change a wet nappy? Change it before you get on the bus then it should be fine until you get home.

mumnosbest · 24/06/2012 19:10

*laid not laod

AgentProvocateur · 24/06/2012 19:11

Yuk.

OhDearNigel · 24/06/2012 19:11

How come you need to change a wet nappy?

Do you really need that to be explained ?

pumpkinsweetie · 24/06/2012 19:11

I wouldn't say you were being unreasonable but i wouldn't say its an emergency either, personally i would have done it when i had got home to save embarrassment and the open air poo smellBlush

dangerousliaison · 24/06/2012 19:11

i see children being changed in car boots or back seats with doors open all the time, what is the difference?

monkeymoma · 24/06/2012 19:11

depends on the childs age, if the skin is broken and causing them massive pain and if it would be better for everyone if it was contained in a nappy bag rather than leaking out all over the buggy

LucieMay · 24/06/2012 19:11

As a regular bus user I can't say it would be pleasant but I would understand why the mum needed to do it.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:11

The OP's talking about a wet nappy

OP - I can't think of a time mine whinged about a wet nappy - but has your DC got nappy rash or something?

IF so, I don't think discretely changing a wet one is a big deal

OhDearNigel · 24/06/2012 19:11

maybe the OP uses cloth.

JamieandTheOlympicTorch · 24/06/2012 19:12

IT'S A WET NAPPY

If its a wee, i don't see a problem tbh

amieis · 24/06/2012 19:14

She wet it while we were on the bus (1hr 10min journey + 20 min walk after)
I haven't changed it I just wanted opinions
I've left her to cry and will wait until I get home to deal :(

ophelia275 · 24/06/2012 19:14

What was the urgency of changing a wet nappy on the bus? Unless I was far from home and my dc was about to have sopping wet clothing for the duration of the journey, I would just leave it until I got home.
