My mum died of pancreatic cancer. 9 days before she took dd to see Disney on ice because she knew she probably wouldn't see her birthday.
The next day she couldn't get out of bed, her body wouldn't move and she messed herself. Luckily she had family and friends looking out for, so we were knocking and ringing round. We were just about to phone the police when we saw her hand in the window where she'd dragged herself.
Later that day we had a bed installed downstairs by the macmillan nurses and all the family came round, she wasn't too bad the next day, even had dd playing with her electronic bed. That night she took a turn for the worst, her last conscious moments were spent screaming in agony as her morphine ran out.
We cared for her at home until she died, it's a horrible disease. The worst thing being she had literally no symptoms, just trapped wind, tummy cramps , loss of appetite etc, she only went to the docs because she'd gone bright yellow. It's so easily missed and virtually unbeatable.
I'm pretty sure my nan had it too, she went the same way, went yellow, loss of appetite etc. She was an old bugger tho who wouldnt go to the docs.
She went a bit like 'Pat' tbh, fine one day, the next she just went.
