Me too. Pat was my favourite character of all time.

deepandcrispandsevenfold · 01/01/2012 23:18

I didn't watch it(ok caught the end) looked like shite tbh, and I watch EE,.
my dad and mum both died of cancer, so chose not to watch it.

Moodykat · 01/01/2012 23:31

My mum died of cancer at home. The disease is a cunt. I cried through EE tonight but did think it was good. Would love Janine to stop being such a baggage and be nice. .

To2012AndBeyondTheLimits · 01/01/2012 23:36

I cried a little bit at Janine and Pat making up.
The rest I was very disappointed with, they just tried to hard I think and the acting wasnt up to scratch.

The end credit music made me laugh, it was just so OTT

Very happy that Derek got a smack. I really hate that man (am aware he's not real!)

Thingumy · 01/01/2012 23:45

Was transfixed on the shit set.

Half a light switch and royal plate and the wallpaper didn't match.

FAIL.

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 02/01/2012 00:39

Can't believe Pat is gone!

Who is Mandy? I haven't seen EE for 2.5 years, since leaving the UK, so have no clue who she is, nor Janice, although I recognise everyone else's name (except Derek who has been explained already)

startail · 02/01/2012 00:47

UABU to mention EE accept in the TV thread.
This house is a soap free zone, I try to keep my iPod one too!

Thingumy, what do you mean?

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 02/01/2012 01:05

As David realised Pat had passed on and he moved his arm and her head flopped to the other side, at that very moment my DH shot off the couch as if he'd been poked up the arse with a stick and we both dissolved into a fit.

Ruined, the moment was bloody ruined. It was a strange 70 mins all round really.

Sparkling - when was the last time you saw it? 1986?Grin

SucksToBeMe · 02/01/2012 01:13

I'm still laughing at the earlier comment

"Janine, face like a satellite dish" GrinGrin

Sorry, I can't remember who write it,as I'm on my iPhone.

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 02/01/2012 01:18

Suckstobeme - it was Baublesandcunting Grin
Ive said it before and I'll say it again that woman has an absolute talent for putting what you're thinking into words.

Carol McGiffin
Matthew Wright
Robbie Williams
All beautifully summed up by Ms Cunting.

Moominsarescary · 02/01/2012 01:30

I watched to see David wicks, although it was said as it was the first anniversary of dfils death, also suddenly from cancer

Thingumy · 02/01/2012 01:34

Thingumy, what do you mean?

Watch on iplayer....look at the wall by the door.you'll know what I mean.

PercyFilth · 02/01/2012 02:34

Have just watched it.

I've not kept up with EE - but it had me in tears at the end.

Sad
Idratherbemuckingout · 02/01/2012 10:35

She died a bit quick, didn't she? I hardly ever watch it, but I'm sure it was only last week she was being told she had it. Do people with pancreatic cancer really die that quickly?

2BoysTooLoud · 02/01/2012 10:37

Had to warn certain family members not to watch it. Very close to home at the moment.
She did have the right sort of awful grey colour.
I shouldn't have watched it either.

FrigidHare · 02/01/2012 11:34

Thingumy I am desperate now. I have become obsessed with finding this! I don't suppose you could give me an exact time so I don't have to sit through the whole bloody thing again just so I won't be upset by it all again?

youarekidding · 02/01/2012 11:40

No YANBU to be devastated but depends on why really!! Wink

I had a friend over to watch it together - her mum has cancer atm and started chemo christmas eve eve and I had to say goodbye to my nan-in-law (very close to her) as she died from terminal cancer. She dies 5 hours after the family met to say goodbye. Sad

So yes we both sobbed shed a few tears but more due to RL than the fact we won't have 'Pat' on our screens again.

Oh and we did get a grip after and had a good few hours laughter! Grin

Animation · 02/01/2012 12:31

I agree it was being near to real life that made it poignant to watch - Pat getting up and out of bed ... going down to the kitchen, wanting to be make herself a cup of tea...clashing a bit with Bianca... relatives uncomfortable downstairs...people coming in and out...son leaning forehead on hers at the end in a bit of an uncomfortable position ...

Sad
Thingumy · 02/01/2012 12:41

Frigid-just skip to the bits in pats bedroom -look at the wall by the doorframe and see if you can spot half a light switch and china plate on wall.

I'm sure I wasn't tripping when watching last night...

ViviPru · 02/01/2012 12:48

I was also transfixed by the china plate, but didn't notice half-a-lightswitch Confused

Face like a satellite dish Grin . DP and I tend to break into Boosh moon quotes when ever Janine is around.

Birdsgottafly · 02/01/2012 12:50

"Do people with pancreatic cancer really die that quickly?"

She had ignored the symptoms and then refused any treatment, so yes she could have gone that quickly.
