To be suspicious about a kindle??

I have just discovered a new kindle in DH's car boot hidden under a pile of work stuff. Obviously only recently ordered. Presumably a present.

I have one. DSs are little.

AIBU to be suspicious and start wondering who he can have bought it for. Have I been on mumsnet for too long!?!

Yes, you have been on MN too long?

Has he any siblings, cousins, close friends? What about his parents? Perhaps he wants one for himself!

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 30/11/2011 15:16

His mum/dad/brother/sister?

OldLadyKnowsSantaClaus · 30/11/2011 15:16

He's hiding it for a workmate?

crashdoll · 30/11/2011 15:17

Perhaps it's stolen!

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 15:17

Not a family present since we've set a £15 limit for adults. He bought it since the paperwork is in with it. And he had it delivered to work.

Aagh I have no other reason to be suspcious and now my mind is racing!!

is it the new touch screen one? maybe then it is an upgrade for you

Kayano · 30/11/2011 15:18

Is it a newer model to yours?

HughBastard · 30/11/2011 15:18

Here's a radical idea; why not ask him?

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 15:19

not for me since we've agreed not to buy anything for each other this year

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 30/11/2011 15:19

it could be for himself.....

loopylou6 · 30/11/2011 15:19

Do you have the old model? Maybe he's upgraded you? Confused

If not, he's clearly having an affair and you should leave the bastard Grin

Although if he where having an affair I doubt it would be a kindle he'd be gifting, more like crotchless knickers jewelry.

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 15:20

don't really want to ask him since I'm probably just being ridiculous.

I might mention that I went to get something out of his boot and see if he brings it up.

OP posts:
kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 15:22

if it was for himself he'd have brought it into the house surely?

You're right loopyloo, jewellery would be a far better bet if he's having an affair - mind you I got a eurythmics CD for Christmas last year, he's not the most adventurous with his gifts! Grin

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 30/11/2011 15:23

Keep us posted, i'm nosy curious!

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 15:23

I don't think he'd have upgraded me. we're really watching our money at the moment due to threat of redundancy.

OP posts:
PassTheTwiglets · 30/11/2011 15:23

He might've bought it for himself but be too embarrassed to tell you he's spent the money on himself.

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 30/11/2011 15:24

Maybe it is for you and he's been saving up slowly and carefully!

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 15:27

This is going to drive me mad now! And if I bring it up then its bound to be for me/my great grandfather/poor old housebound lady down the road and I'll be the suspicious old witch

OP posts:
AWimbaWay · 30/11/2011 15:28

I think he's bought it for himself too, but knows you're supposed to be watching money so feels guilty.

TheCountessRoyalofBlood · 30/11/2011 15:29

What does he do as a job? We have had various things going on at work and a colleague had an ipad in the boot of the car for ages as a prize for a competition. Could it be a leaving present for a colleague? or something similar?

loopylou6 · 30/11/2011 15:30

Deffo ask him tonight.

MrsHankey · 30/11/2011 15:31

I think its for himself as AWimbaWay has said.

MrsHankey · 30/11/2011 15:32

Thought this thread was going to be about worrying that Kindle might be providing some kind of hacker with info Grin

It was the 'suspicious'

NinkyNonker · 30/11/2011 15:33

Just mention it to him, you don't have to come over all suspicious.

LadyBeagleBaublesAndBells · 30/11/2011 15:34

When he gets home say 'Who's kindle is that in the boot?'
Easy.
