To be suspicious about a kindle??

I have just discovered a new kindle in DH's car boot hidden under a pile of work stuff. Obviously only recently ordered. Presumably a present.

I have one. DSs are little.

AIBU to be suspicious and start wondering who he can have bought it for. Have I been on mumsnet for too long!?!

Oooh I really want to know :o

GiserableMitt · 30/11/2011 16:55

Or wrapped in a comic giggle

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 17:16

I know this is drip feeding but does it change your views if I told you he has form - albeit a LONG time ago and with me. I am wife number 2. We have been together 13 years.

Oh.

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 17:21

Is that a "we all hate you now homewrecker and are not prepared to advise further" oh?

OP posts:
LineRunnerSolsticeLover · 30/11/2011 17:25

No. It's a 'Gulp' oh.

What does the paperwork say? When did he buy it?

LineRunnerSolsticeLover · 30/11/2011 17:26

Oh hang on, has he got older children? It's probably for them.

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 17:30

A couple of weeks ago.

In his defence on the affair front it was a long time ago, he was very young and made a mistake in getting married first time around (she was doing a lot of drugs and had out of control spending habits - which caused a lot of strain on their relationship and resulted in us having to pick up her debts for years) and there were no kids involved.

No reason to suspect him of infidelity since (although plenty of opportunity with lots of late nights at work).

Yikes.

ViviPru · 30/11/2011 17:32

I misread the OPs name as 'kindlefiddler' and was about to come wading in with a big, fat, self-riteous I don't think that's a very appropriate username. I feel somewhat absolved having confessed to this ridiculousness.

LadyBeagleBaublesAndBells · 30/11/2011 17:32

You can only ask him OP.
It's not like it's exactly 'hidden' is it. If he'd found a kindle in the boot of your car, wouldn't he ask you?

Sookeh · 30/11/2011 17:33

You have to ask yourself whether feeling shit if it's an upgrade for you will be worse than being stressed and anxious until Christmas.

Just ask him Smile

LineRunnerSolsticeLover · 30/11/2011 17:38

Did he get it cheap? Is it better than yours?

Tbh I wouldn't have thought you'd buy a shag mistress a kindle six weeks before Christmas.

Zensation · 30/11/2011 17:42

It would make me suspicious too.

whackamole · 30/11/2011 17:42

Maybe it's the one I returned, that Amazon have charged me for as apparently the courier picked it up from here but they haven't got Angry

Have paid twice for one sodding Kindle now!

Zensation · 30/11/2011 17:45

To most people a kindle would be a pretty big buy wouldn't it? surely he would mention it either before buying or soon after?

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 17:52

Now I'm having the "would I dump him if he's been unfaithful" debate in my head! Aaaggggghhh wish I'd never found the bloody thing!

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 30/11/2011 17:52

Is it better than yours?

kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 17:54

Didn't look that closely. Its all still in the packaging. Might sneak out and have a peak but he could be home any minute.

OP posts:
kindlefinder · 30/11/2011 17:56

Right I have a plan - I am completely addicted to diet coke and the only diet coke in the house is in the boot of his car. When he gets in my first step is to announce that I'm popping out to his car to get a can and I'm going to check out his reaction.

BarfTheHeraldAngelsHeave · 30/11/2011 17:57

Just ask. Kindles can be innocent.

Zensation · 30/11/2011 17:57

yes! excellent Grin

valiumredhead · 30/11/2011 17:58

Ooooooooooo can hardly wait!!!

Errrr I mean "Good plan, OP!" Blush

LineRunnerSolsticeLover · 30/11/2011 18:01

My gut feeling is that it's innocent, on the basis of all the non evidence.

Multigrain · 30/11/2011 18:02

Kindles are always the innocent parties in these events.
