To be suspicious about a kindle??

I have just discovered a new kindle in DH's car boot hidden under a pile of work stuff. Obviously only recently ordered. Presumably a present.

I have one. DSs are little.

AIBU to be suspicious and start wondering who he can have bought it for. Have I been on mumsnet for too long!?!

If this were me, I'd realise that he had broken our spending limit and wanted to treat me to something nice on account of the rough year we've had.

It doesn't bode well that you are instantly suspicious :(

ImperialBlether · 30/11/2011 18:56

If he is having an affair and if he is having an affair with a married woman, he would have to buy her something she might buy herself.

When this happened to me, though, it was an eternity ring and my favourite book.

What I actually got on Christmas Day was something quite different (and not as romantic) and, I suspect, her favourite book.

OP, I waited it out. I had less time to wait, though, and yes, he had form. It was only when I got my presents that I could confront him.

Hope your situation is completely different, but if you say, "Whose is the Kindle?" then you have totally given yourself away and you will never know whether his answer is the true one. Wait until Christmas and see whether you or anyone in your family gets a Kindle. Oh and check bank statements, too.

Worral, she's asking us rather than asking him because she doesn't feel she can ask him, maybe?

Catsmamma · 30/11/2011 18:58

I am a bit gutted that it's not a revelation about the screen being a twoway mirror-cum-webcam and that all kindle users pick their noses all the way through chapter three.

WorraLiberty · 30/11/2011 19:00

Worral, she's asking us rather than asking him because she doesn't feel she can ask him, maybe?

And that's what I don't understand.

Only he knows the answer

starfishmummy · 30/11/2011 19:01

Tapping fingers impatiently........

clappyhands · 30/11/2011 19:02

aaahhhhh is he not home yet

ImperialBlether · 30/11/2011 19:03

If you didn't suspect your husband of anything, then you wouldn't need to ask on MN. If you do suspect there's a miniscule chance, you need to think about things before asking your partner.

You're lucky you don't know that.

clappyhands · 30/11/2011 19:03

is it not Worral that she doesn't want to maybe spoil a surprise??

clappyhands · 30/11/2011 19:03

yip imperail - think you have hit the nail on the head

HohohomoaneeInAManger · 30/11/2011 19:08

Wonder what time he'll get in?

cocoachannel · 30/11/2011 19:10

Either, he's breaking the present limit rule because he thinks you deserve a nice present.

Or

He's bought it for himself but doesn't want to let on because you're meant to be watching your money.

Or

He has a secret Mills & Boon addiction he doesn't want people to know about

You might have hit the nail on the head. You can get magazine subscriptions on a kindle, check it for playboy. Maybe it's his porn stash!

VivaLeBeaver · 30/11/2011 19:22

Although I guess you wouldn't get the pictures so maybe not, duh.........

SpaghettiTwirlerPrancerVixen · 30/11/2011 19:23

Same here beaver. I hope it concludes!

Yama · 30/11/2011 19:24

I can imagine a Kindle being for another woman. Especially if it's an emotional affair. The pair having an affair at my place of work regard themselves as intellectually superior to everyone else. A Kindle with pretentious literature or philosophy downloaded onto it would be apt in their case.

inatrance · 30/11/2011 19:30

I reckon there's an innocent explanation OP, please tell us what it is when you've asked him!

The Christmas before last I accidentally found an expensive handbag, clearly deliberately hidden (DH obviously doesn't think I clean behind things).

Not for a second did I have any suspicious thoughts, but then again my DH doesn't have form, I suppose when you know he's capable it's always going to be at the back of your mind.

TeaOneSugarPlumFairy · 30/11/2011 19:38

I know that doesn't help, just thinking aloud.

HippyHippopotamus · 30/11/2011 19:41

I really hope no news means good news and that kindlefinder is ok...

gastonscave · 30/11/2011 19:41

Marking place should be revising where are you op
