Because if she has been I would like to know why.

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 07/11/2011 22:49

have just read further down thread and seen that it's attracting known trolls... how we have MISSED you. Grin

anyway, if Val does come back, and it looks like there is a good band of support behind her, hopefully she can rein in her temper in future. presumably all the people who frequent the doghouse will help her with that, now that they'd know she'd be on her last last last chance?

GypsyMoth · 07/11/2011 22:49

So where is TLES in all this? She usually loves the drama and sticks around?

HeresTheThingBooyhoo · 07/11/2011 22:49

who is digz? never seen them around here before?

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 07/11/2011 22:49

"She isn't fluffy and lovely. And? She is still allowed an opinion."

Exactly. If my opinion was that my DH should earn a bit more so I can stay home and eat cream cakes while my fat arse gets fatter, I could post that in Feminism if I wanted to see what they'd say. They'd rip my liver out. They are entitled to theirs.

I still think it stinks. MNHQ have IMO always been fair, upright, transparent, and made good judgement calls. This is not the case today, sadly. Someone who has posted with nothing but the best of intentions is being punished because she doesn't come up with platitudes when faced with myriad well-meaning but totally clueless dog owners. Her responses may not have given every poster a warm, satisfying glow of reassurance, but they were practical, informed and helpful in the overwhelming majority of cases.

Very poor call.

AnyFucker · 07/11/2011 22:50

the question in the title has been answered

this thread is superfluous now

justine maybe you should delete this one now and come back to us when you have done as you said you will do which is 1) consider reinstating DBF due to popular demand 2) further investigated TLES also due to popular demand

anything more on this thread is not useful

Honeydragon · 07/11/2011 22:50

But that's the point, you don't know ever what someone's circumstances are, so what's the harm in being gentle and kind or at least in being neutral? That thread imho was a very salient example of what happens if the prevailing mood is one of judgement and self-righteousness. We never, any of us, know the circumstances of who we are talking to. It's absolutely fine to give forthright, straight advice but any poster could have a whole host of vulnerabilities so why not assume the best of them, and not the worst? Why not tell it straight, but not unkindly?

Then bibbitys right ditch AIBU. Causes half the crap you mentioned.

No one is perfect. No one is saying Val was perfect, but for a lot of people her ban seems unfair. Nowt wrong with one more last chance. With Val when you give her a nod to rein it in I found she did. There are others on here that don't take heed to people saying they are going to far and they are damn rude, and don't get banned "because its a public forum".

CaptainNancy · 07/11/2011 22:50

FWIW- I have always given TLES the benefit of the doubt, and just stayed clear of her posts, due to what happened to her in her past. Now I find myself questioning whether or not that actually happened- I have never found any hard evidence of it (and I have tried looking, because I was so Confused about other things she's posted).

LadyEvenstarsCoven · 07/11/2011 22:51

I have got as far as page 14.

I explained I was leaving the thread and did so. If you read i never sai I hadnt bought a dog, i explained I bought a 5m old lurcher x labrador and the dog that went to attack - it did not bite - DS1 was my friends dog, they were staying with me.

Pram scam? whats that about pray do tell?

I said in one of my last posts on the thread - WHICH I DID NOT HAVE DELETED AS I HAD LEFT IT. that I had NOT made a final decision, I still haven't and won't until I have discussed it with all involved i.e my DC.

My opinions are never likely to match everyone elses as I am an idividual and am entitled to my own opinion as are we all. this does not made me "mad as a box of frogs".

Yes my name is VAUNDA - ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND I AM PROUD OF IT.

I have NEVER posted a thread where I admitted to being a troll, I have been a member of MN since DS1 was approx 5yrs old he is now 13. I did take a break for a while - I had things in RL to deal with. As we all do at times.

I am sure as I read on I will discover more insults towards me and I will defend myself as anyone of us would.

Obviously someone last night made a comment about my hand as I have seen reference to a "Fingernail" well who ever was concerned about it - I am pleased to point out that I am the proud owner of a new one which should be fully grown soon. Hope that puts your mind at rest.

now I shall continue reading, and if I feel the need i shall reply.

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 22:51

@SacreLao

I think we should now report all threads that don't fall in line with the new rules of being nice at all times.

That's a hell of a lot of bans to issue!

And that would help how, exactly? This is not school you know, with us as teachers and you as rebellious kids. We are trying our best to moderate in a way that adheres to our philosophy - to let the conversation flow and to make parents' lives easier. The Doghouse as it stands doesn't really result in either of those aims. You either buy into that philosophy or you don't.

CaptainNancy · 07/11/2011 22:52

And also- the weirdest experience of my whole life is linked to TLES, so I have her to thank for that.

MmeLindor. · 07/11/2011 22:52

BOF
I had not posted on TLE's threads about the puppy but had a look every so often and it was clear from the start that it would not end well.

She deserves everything that was thrown at her.

But the whelping lady didn't.

And we cannot make decisions on what is acceptable and what not based on whether the OP was reasonable/likeable/crazybatshit

MollyintheMoon · 07/11/2011 22:53

Another vote here for DBF to return.

The 'MN Ethos' can be dogmatic across the boards. There is a party line and woe betide any poster who crosses it. We all know where/why the bun fights happen and the forceful posters will always 'outshout' the more moderate opinions. This is often to the detriment of many discussions on mn.

I debated whether to weigh in on this discussion but decided that DBF does do so much good that she is a genuine asset to have around. She is a passionate and genuine poster and whether you agree with her or not, I think her opinions wrt to dogs, are worth listening to.

NorfolkNChance · 07/11/2011 22:53

To continue with my MN Shakespeare Opus:

JUSTINE:
To ban, or not to ban, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the boards to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous accusations,
Or to take arms against a sea of frothers
And by opposing end them. To ban?to (get some bloody) sleep,
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural posts
That flesh is heir to: 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To ban, to sleep;
To sleep, perchance to dream?ay, there's the rub:
For in that sleep of banning what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this cursed thread,
Must give us pause?there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long posts.
For who would bear the whips and scorns of MNetters,
Th'oppressor's wrong, the proud woman's contumely,
The pangs of dispriz'd love, the MN law's delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of th'unworthy takes,
When she herself might her quietus make
With a bare Boden? Who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after banning,
The undiscovere'd country, from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action.

[Exunt]

ReindeerBollocks · 07/11/2011 22:53

Three things:-

I have only just realised that DBF is/was Valhalla (despite my constant usage!) - I really liked Val, please let her back.

  1. I didn't know Vaunda was a horrid troll
  1. Mumsnet is supposed to make life easier - HA! my husband and children would massively disagree - they'd argue that I'd cook proper meals and our house would be tidier without MN distracting me.
BrianAndHisBalls · 07/11/2011 22:53

captainnancy - yes it did and i personally dont think thats a good thing to talk about really. JMHO but not nice.

Just thinking out loud, AF. It was bugging me that I couldn't remember her name. (But she was banned too iirc?).

GypsyMoth · 07/11/2011 22:54

What's the pram reference?

BrianAndHisBalls · 07/11/2011 22:54

Reindeer - shes not a troll, MN say so above ^^

Trills · 07/11/2011 22:55

CaptainNancy · 07/11/2011 22:55
