DBF has been a great help to me recently when I've been struggling with my dog deciding to forget everything he's been taught. Now I come to thank her and she's gone. Sad

I think I might just stick to my ante natal thread now. MN doesn't seem the same anymore.

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 22:42

@StewieGriffinsMom

If judgment and self-righteousness were banned, some of us would actually have to parent our children.

Smile Think that might have to be quote of the week.

This thread is going a bit strange. To be fair I've seen Aitch disagree with MNHQ and I'm sure fairly recently. Writing the round up shouldn't stop her having an opinion and voicing it.

DBF was extreme in the whelping thread, yes. But she picks up the pieces when it goes wrong, so she sees it from the worst case scenario. She isn't fluffy and lovely. And? She is still allowed an opinion.

SuePurblybilt · 07/11/2011 22:44

This thread seems to have attracted a few with an agenda with MNHQ and a few who'd like to see the boards entirely filled with mumsy discussions, seriousness at all times and a public witch-hunt of higher profile posters and are using Val's situation as a chance to air that.

Which is fair enough, everyone has an opinion. But if we're heading that way, can someone help me with the knots on this raft?

dreamingbohemian · 07/11/2011 22:45

Is it possible to ban someone from one specific forum only?

Could you reinstate DBF but give her a temporary ban from posting in the Doghouse?

I have never read the DH but have seen DBF on lots of other threads and she's great.

Perhaps you could also start a sticky thread in the Doghouse for NEWBIES where it's understood all questions will be answered politely and respectfully.

Basically -- these are not unsolvable problems.

I think we should now report all threads that don't fall in line with the new rules of being nice at all times.

That's a hell of a lot of bans to issue!

AtYourCervix · 07/11/2011 22:46

can we have tickers? with glitter? and huggy smileys?

BroomForMyChin · 07/11/2011 22:46

Me too AYC Confused

AnyFucker · 07/11/2011 22:46

digz what the actual fuck are you talking about ?

boglach · 07/11/2011 22:46

However these harsh, sneering and bullying posts happen all the time. There are others. I contacted MNHQ once about such a poster but nothing was done. How do you decide?

LeBOF · 07/11/2011 22:47

I don't read TLES's threads any more, but read the doghouse one because I'd followed the situation from April. And she is not just a benign numpty- a dog was likely to end up abandoned and perhaps put to sleep because of her actions. Hardly harmless.

SacreLao · 07/11/2011 22:47

NOOOOOOO

NO TICKERS !!!!!!!!!

BrianAndHisBalls · 07/11/2011 22:47

Agree with Aitch.

Yes if a poster or group of posters "take control" of a board and start laying down the law.

I don't want for one minute to belittle the fact that these posters on the Doghouse genuinely feel passionately about the subject and can often go out of their way to be helpful, but we've had too many reports of the Doghouse being scary and unwelcoming to let things go on like this.

I know AIBU can be similarly feisty but first, it's not obviously dominated by one or a few posters, secondly it's not a specific topic-related subject that you have to post in, and thirdly we are working on it!

MmeLindor. · 07/11/2011 22:48

catinahat
Why are you back if all you are doing is making digs at Aitch? You are not contributing to the discussion other than to take pot shots at MNHQ.

Yank
I do see that now, and yes I understand DBF's frustration. But it was simply nasty to take it out on that poor woman. And she has been warned repeatedly.

Which I have to take to mean that she does not care if she gets banned.

She must have known when she posted that it could well get her banned. It was exactly the kind of comment that people had been complaining about.

CaptainNancy · 07/11/2011 22:48

catinthehat are you actually earwigca???

YankNCock · 07/11/2011 22:48

'But Yankncock, she didn't try breeding for a lark. She had more prospective puppy owners than she thought she'd have puppies.'

And where would these people have gotten their puppies if the OP hadn't bred her dog? Perhaps from a more experienced, ethical breeder who would be prepared and know what the hell they were doing and not have to ask the internet? Or even from a shelter? What happens if those puppies have problems and the buyers back out? Or want to return them?

I can really sympathise with DBF's frustration. Perhaps she could have said it better, but that OP was such a typical example of why there are far too many dogs in the world.
