Because if she has been I would like to know why.

OP posts:
Thingumy · 07/11/2011 22:08

I steer clear of the doghouse for precisely those reasons Aitch.

PacificDogwood · 07/11/2011 22:08

What's wrong with a bit of forceful forthwrightsness (is that a word??) in a subject you're passionate and knowledgable about?
I agree with all those who feel we are all adults.

I am a wannbe dogowner and have only every luked on the Doghouse, but have learned an awful lot (I am certainly a lot less naive about backyard/puppy farm breeding than I was BMN {before MN}).
Again, as others have said, there is plenty of aggression in AIBU or Feminism which does not lead to banning.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 07/11/2011 22:09

You didn't exactly have to be a detective to know Valhala is DBF - she was very open about her name change.

Tefal - no she simply changed names. Once. Lots of posters use many names at the same time - it's all allowed, sock puppetry is when you post under different names on the same thread (usually done to back your own pov). Not the same thing at all.

she's not been banned because of her passion, don't be ridiculous. she's been banned because Having Been Repeatedly Warned, she broke the MN guidelines. Guidelines of which she would have been more than aware, as when they tell you to wind your neck in with someone/thing they really do spell it out for you.

531800000008 · 07/11/2011 22:10

IIRC there was a weirdy MN/Dog rescue forum collision before the nc to DBF

That whelping thread is really bad, cripes

I know I'm here late, but I have to say, I've been party to DBF passionate attacks on people. She sounds like a lovely person, and I'm sure she does amazing work, and ahe has helped me with advice in the past, but she can be very aggressive. Her opinions are valid, but she does force them onto people. I've lurked over in the Doghouse, it's not fun over there. maybe a ban will help persuade her to temper her responses a little in future.

LoopyLoopsRootyFroots · 07/11/2011 22:11

No, Aitch. Having been warned, a really flimsy excuse was found to ban her. By all means, ban her if she really does personally attack, but this simply wasn't the case.

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 07/11/2011 22:11

If you read the thread properly, some of you, you will see DBF was banned for what was classed 'a personal attack' on another poster.

Based on that reasoning, there are a few here that should expect not to log in tomorrow.

BecauseImWorthIt · 07/11/2011 22:12

Nothing wrong with forthwrightsness Grin - but everything wrong with being aggressive and unpleasant, which is what DBF had been warned about repeatedly.

HeresTheThingBooyhoo · 07/11/2011 22:12

stranded i have linked to the thread for her but she is unable to read it unfortunately. she does know we are all calling for her return though.

tefal · 07/11/2011 22:12

thanks chipping.

LeBOF · 07/11/2011 22:13

Aitch- the post that Justine quoted was pretty mild, and in no way surpassed the deserved drubbing that other posters were giving TLES. The attacks that went too far were from non-doghouse regulars, and weren't motivated by concern for the dog. But because the thread went pearshaped, DBF got it in the neck.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 07/11/2011 22:13

Before reading the Doghouse threads, I had NO IDEA about the issues with private breeders. Our dog came from a private breeder

Someone posted this - surely that's an indication of the good work DBF does around here.

Someone else posted 'It's MN's loss' - no actually, it will be the loss of life for many dogs. That's the reality.

DBF gets banned for calling someone a liar - someone who has been proven to be lying and is a repeat offender. Unreal.

Good lord... someone further down compared DBF in the Doghouse to Tiktok on the breastfeeding boards. Seriously? DBF could learn a lot from Tiktok about how to get your point across without alienating your audience.

I want to be perfectly clear that I have nothing against DBF. I like her out of The Doghouse.

531800000008 · 07/11/2011 22:14

um booyhoo, I'm not sure you can say ''we are all calling for her return'' tbh.

Also, what BIWI said

A thief? Any evidence for that?

PacificDogwood · 07/11/2011 22:17

Why is aggression (not personal attacks) acceptable in other topics than?
Lots of previous bunfights could be called 'aggressive', surely?

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 22:17

@ItsonlymeMrsDB

Justine

But isn't that open to personal interpretation ?

One person's helpful and considerate is anothers bossy ? Depending on what is said, and how ?

Well yes, the "how" is the thing, isn't it?

Hassled · 07/11/2011 22:17

Aitch - the point people are making is that while yes, she could be aggressive and blinkered and intemperate, the straw that seems to have broken MNHQ's back was a thread where she wasn't aggressive and blinkered and intemperate.

I dunno anymore. I do think MN is better for having people to disagree with - lose the feisty, passionate, opinionated people and you lose the quality of the debate. You lose the potential.
