Because if she has been I would like to know why.

I'm just cross. Sorry Justine. :)

Please reinstate her though.

And get rid of the dogshouse. Back to 'pets' maybe?

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 21:14

@YankNCock

Wait, DBF = Valhalla?

Add my name to the petition, her advice has helped me, and someone does need to show the world that side of dog ownership that says they are not accessories to be discarded at will! There are so many unwanted dogs in the world, we really need someone who will tell people they are being idiots for backyard breeding or taking on dogs with no idea what they are doing. If those sort of people don't get a warm reception, perhaps they should think about WHY rather than bitching about unfriendliness.

No, sorry, here's where we differ. There's no harm in giving a warm reception and some heartfelt advice. Otherwise it's just lecturing. One individual is not responsible for all the unwanted dogs in the world. They are usually responsible for just one, and quite anxious about it.

YankNCock

Me too. Confused

Proudnscary · 07/11/2011 21:14

Mrs DB - Wine Wine Wine

Justine - seriously is there a case for banning posters for their own good? Like TLES?

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 07/11/2011 21:14

Sacre

I second ! Grin

bibbitybobbitybloodyaxe · 07/11/2011 21:14

Wow, I feel strangely disnterested in all this. But was it not very long ago that there were a couple of heartfelt threads saying the doghouse (and dbf to a certain extent) were absolutely not representative of Mumsnet at its best?

LeBOF · 07/11/2011 21:14

DBF hasn't called anybody a scabby chav though- I she wasn't responsible for the personal attacks that got that thread deleted. In the main, the beyond-the-pale ones were from non-doggie posters. Yet DBF is the fall guy.

I agree with the previous poster who said she has toned it down a lot in recent weeks. I've seen a change, anyway.

I truly think this ban is unfair.

There's no actual, sensible reason why people can't be civilised in the Doghouse, is there? I don't get it.

Empusa · 07/11/2011 21:15

Please reinstate DBF, she's been an invaluable help to so many of us.

Elibean · 07/11/2011 21:15

I'd be far more comfortable reporting posts in my own backyard, as it were, if I could safely assume it would mean warnings/deleted posts rather than banned members of my community.

DoingTheBestICan · 07/11/2011 21:15

But if she has already had warnings to tone down her posting style & she has refused what then?
There are ways of getting your point across without making yourself sound like a bully.
If she is allowed to come back, what then? Will she change her style?

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 21:15

Just popping off to put my boys to bed and put supper on for my girls but I shall return...

SacreLao · 07/11/2011 21:15

But justine surely you can see some people NEED the lecture!

If I started a post saying that I beat my kids everyone would tell me what a disgusting human I was and quite rightly!

You can't then stop people telling me I am wrong just because I get offended!

MmeLindor. · 07/11/2011 21:16

Love the idea of a sin bin.

Could we have one with glass sides so that we can point and laugh at the temporary banned?

Goldenbrown1981 · 07/11/2011 21:16

The problem is, It's different with dogs. How any ties are we told we can't compare dogs with children? Then you can't come on here and do the same thing about dog ownership and parenthood. When people are struggling to cope with children they do not pack them off to the local orphanage (generally). When people post on doghouse saying "I' struggling with my dog, I'll do anything to keep her, what can I do" Advice is given. When people log on saying "I' struggling with my dog, I think I might just kill it" Understandably people have a slightly different reaction

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 07/11/2011 21:16

Thanks, Proud Grin

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 21:17

@herbietea

I'm just flabbergasted that MNHQ have not spotted inconsitences in TLES threads/posts! It would seem the eye is not always on the ball!

As we always say, send em over - we will look into anything you do.

SarahStratton · 07/11/2011 21:17

I want to know about Vaunda and The Prams please.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 07/11/2011 21:17

Justine, could some of these warnings be made publicly, on the threads? That way, everyone would know that a poster was skating on thin ice, and emotionally it would feel much better if posters could know that HQ considers a particular posting style too forthright.

If the previous warnings to DBF had been common knowledge, perhaps this thread wouldn't have kicked off as everyone who knows DBF would have had the opportunity to understand what was happening gradually, and could have perhaaps helped her to tone things down.

I don't know if your assessment of DBF is right or wrong, but it it is right, then this approach would also comfort posters who felt attacked.

Worth thinking about (again)?

LoopyLoopsRootyFroots · 07/11/2011 21:17

No, I guess not. But the same (actually far worse, but no-one seems to care) happens in Relationships and Feminism. Some areas attract very passionate posters. C'est la vie.

Yikes I have had a post "deleted by MN" - thats a first for me (I think!)

Has this thread kicked off yet?

ColdSancerre · 07/11/2011 21:18

Agree with herbie. MNHQ are you serious, you don't think TLES is a emotional vampire? Have you read the chips thread! Did you actually read TLES's posts in the thread you deleted? See her lies? Jeez. It's all the time. I don't know aout the vaunda persona but please look into all this properly.
