Because if she has been I would like to know why.

Northernlurker · 07/11/2011 20:44

I see I've been deleted too - can't remember what awful thing I said though - I hate it when that happens!

Re the doghouse in general. Imo sometimes posters (DBF included) go way to far - but individual posts can be deleted and in general there is a more moderate tone. Banning a poster who has ample credentials in there area. Whu really has helped posters and dogs even whilst being frankly a tiny bit shouty is really unnecessary. I hope she is reinstated.

You know what MN, you created the sodding Doghouse, despite us all begging you not to.

When we just had Pets it was a far better section, a wider selection of posters and opinions and a generally nicer place to be.

You insisted on splitting it all up, you created it and now you are complaining that it has a got a little too polarized and shouty.

I cannot believe you would ban DBF, I am speechless, especially considering what it was over.

You haven't noticed anything untoward about TLES? Christ on a bike.

MotherPanda · 07/11/2011 20:44

God - lift the ban, as another poster said - nobody notices DBFs non-doggy posts. I think she was a real tribute to the spirit of mumsnet actually.

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 20:44

@HeresTheThingBooyhoo

I SUPPORT LIFTING THE BAN ON DBF

fair enough if she has had warnings for personal attacks, but this wasn't a personal attack. at least play by your own rules MNHQ. she didn't earn a ban for thsi and you know it. otherwise you wouldn't be suggesting lifting the ban if you get enough support for it from MNers.

How can "You are a liar, foolish and a disgrace, not just for what you are doing to this dog but for trying to discredit someone who works her arse off to save them. You appall me.." Not be classed as a personal attack Confused. Fraid it's a personal attack in my book.

thisisyesterday · 07/11/2011 20:45

sorry, but i just had to say tht I am LOVING the fact that the first person from MNHQ to post was Olivia marking her spot

Goldenbrown1981 · 07/11/2011 20:45

Do all the times she has helped people in dog house not count? Are people only allowed to be militant when it is about Abusive husbands or Primary schools?

Proudnscary · 07/11/2011 20:45

TLES is an attention seeking nightmare. Her posts always, always offend or infuriate me.

I hate dogs. But I didn't know DBF very well as our MN would not have crossed, and the strength of feeling that she did more good than harm is compelling.

simpson · 07/11/2011 20:45

itsonlymemrsDB - oh yes!!! To the house with front and back garden, then a few posts later it changed to a field in the back Grin

I think she told so many lies she forgot what she had told to whom iyswim Grin

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 07/11/2011 20:45

I think you should lift the ban on DBF - by all means tell her to not be so direct!

But you really do need to investigate TLES and I'm glad you're going to. You need to read through the threads she has you delete, you need to read through everything.

Kayano · 07/11/2011 20:46

I got called an Mra once for questioning if
Something was abusive or just a row... I don't like mras but I also don't like the way some people dish out the term when you have only asked a question.

I tend to not ask anything now Confused

fit2drop · 07/11/2011 20:46

. It's about drawing a line about what and what is not acceptable on here. The Doghouse has become a scary place and we are here to make parents' lives easier, not scare them shitless.

Fair enough but dog house is usually where people ask about dog related stuff, not whether little jane should have a dummy or be breast fed , so hardly scaring parents.

MN has lost a fantastic ambassador re pet owning, her advise was always well meant and proffessional. Yes she was brittle and forthright sometimes but bloody hell she cared!! and always walked the talk if she had to.
She always backed her mouth with actions if needed .

Elibean · 07/11/2011 20:46

Confused I didn't read a personal attack from DBF on that thread - though admittedly skim-read it.

If anything, the more personal comments I remember from it weren't from DBF at all.

Anyway. DBF does lose her temper sometimes, but she has definitely helped more people than she has insulted - we wouldn't have had a clue how to go about finding our dog withour her advice (which she took time, PMs, and thought over).

I support lifting the ban.

BabyDubsEverywhere · 07/11/2011 20:46

I HEART VALHALLA, (or DBF or whatever else)

I dont actually think all posters should be treated equally tbh, some posters are twats of the highest order doing cruel and unnessassay things and should be looked down on and disregarded, DogsBestFriend does NOT fall into this catagory and should be left well alone.

Ill sit in, ill burn my bra and socks and the bloody kaftan too :(

BornSicky · 07/11/2011 20:46

I don't have a dog, but I do read the Doghouse regularly, because I care about animals and all I've ever seen from DBF is someone who passionately cares about dogs and would do anything to help someone who genuinely wants to help their animals. I've also seen her on AIBU offering support and advice.

I agree, she's forthright and sometimes tells people hard truths that they don't want to hear, but I've also seen her get an absolute pasting for her personal life (not anything to do with dogs) and she's taken it in her stride.

Having been a moderator elsewhere, I know there's always a big back story to a ban, as when it's someone "popular" it can cause a backlash like this one, so the decision isn't taken lightly. But, I think DBF is the wrong target here.

I think she does make parents lives easier (if they have problems with their pets) and I also think that someone with her level of specialism is an asset to a forum like this.

I know I've recommended MN to friends who need advice about dogs and that's because I know (knew) that DBF would offer a sensible dose of advice and support if needed.

WRT to the thread being discussed, I read it and have followed other similar debacles involving the OP and agree with everyone else here - DBF was not out line, just at the end of her tether with someone she's repeatedly tried to help.

just my twopenneth, couldn't not stick up for DBF - I really value her contributions.

I totally agree with you honeydragon and you make an excellent point.

DBf is not just to be found on the doghouse board. She is a prolific poster, and is very funny and well liked. Yes she is forthright on the doghouse board, because she feels so passionately I suppose, howevert elsewhere she is a normal, well valued poster, who is very kind and witty.

You may not have wanted it WTWTW but others did. We are not complaining we are DOING something. I haven't noticed anything about TLES but I'm sure Helen's team have, particularly if you've been reporting it - I don't see reports unless I'm alerted. I'm sure they've worked damm hard behind the scenes looking into it in fact, as they always do.

akaemmafrost · 07/11/2011 20:47

I don't actually think TLES IS a Troll, that is what is so scary about her.
