Yes I agree it would be if it was just this thread - but the lecturing and aggressive hectoring has gone on for some time, tbh. As said, the Doghouse is not exactly welcoming to posters who often are seeking help and practical advice, rather than a telling off. I do understand that many of us have strong feelings about the dogs, but a bit of compassion towards humans wouldn't go amiss I agree re: humans but when you have people coming on and blatantly taking on animals they can not care for its totally cruel. I have always found DBF to be very useful for advice and she sees what happens when people act like this as its her who deals with it in her job.

There was a poor woman a while back who got into trouble for not being able to cope with her dog after her dh died... Was this DBF too then?

I dont think the dog house is scary. The feminism thread is worse, as is AIBU as soon as you say "oh my DP dared to call my a cow" and you get a million postres saying "leave the bstrd why are you with him" Where is the compassion there?!

Summat to do with dog knapping and she didn't have a garden to legit out in. She was afraid to take it out for a walk....

It was to prevent it being nicked. Like rehoming your tv before you get burgled or rehoming your handbag before in case you get mugged.

DBF has given up her anonyminity [sp] many times to pm posters and let them pm her.
She has done so much on this site to help other posters with their problems with their pets. She works so fucking hard for their rights.
I'm just so angry about this.

Justine - the thread about the woman who wanted to rehome a dog which you allude to. Afaik the OP didn't say that she was widowed until halfway through the thread. DBF didn't go in there all guns blazing to an OP which said 'I am recently widowed and can't cope with my dog'. It was rather more subtle than that.

I don't feel I 'know' DBF well and saw her being pretty blunt.

But it makes me furious she's been banned after we spent weeks begging MNHQ to do something, anything, about edd and the other posters who were just trying to hurt vulnerable women. Apparently that was just far too difficult for any action to be taken ... seeing as those posters only posted disgusting rape jokes, and we wwere just told to keep reporting them, keep seeing them deleted - but no hope of a ban.

What's the difference here?

To be fair, all of MN is scary to some posters/lurkers. We're slagged from Nethuns to Bounty for being mean and sweary and unwelcoming. Forthright and blunt and strident is kind of the ethos here, isn't it? Or we'd end up with lots of 'ur dog ur choice hun' shitey posts or helpful re-postings of RSPCA numbers x 100. As it is, in most topics - not just DH, you might get a mouthful but you'll also get proper, often professional advice, practical help and intelligent reasoning.

It'll be a shame to lose that. I understand about drawing a line, I do, but in this case, it does seem that DBF wasn't exactly wrong.

The Doghouse is only a scary place if you're a numpty. Numpties kill dogs. They don't think they do, because the nice lady who responded to their ad on Preloved for dear beloved Mitzi (can't cope now there's a baby, you see, doggy has to go to a new home) was so very lovely on the phone and promised that Mitzi would have a home for life with a big garden and lots of walks and treats every day. Unfortunately they neglected to have Mitzi spayed and so Mitzi ends up in a filthy cage in a shed in mid Wales somewhere churning out litter after litter and put down when she can't manage that any more.

One of many, many issues that lots of people are not aware of and that results in dead dogs. I've seen nothing but excellent pro-dog education in the doghouse and if that's at the expense of a few posters' feelings, well, boohoo. People are called out on their ignorance in all other areas of life.

TLES is a troll though. She admitted it on another deleted thread a few years back. She had a different name then. If you don't do second chances then get rid of her ASAP!
