Because if she has been I would like to know why.

OP posts:
HeresTheThingBooyhoo · 07/11/2011 20:30

justine what DBF said wasn't a personal attack. it was factually accurate. TLES had lied, was being foolish and the whole situation was a disgrace for that dog. DBF stated a fact.

BrianAndHisBalls · 07/11/2011 20:30

SGM - Totally agree.

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 07/11/2011 20:31

Several people have asked, A, and it is not being answered, so I'm assuming not.

simpson · 07/11/2011 20:31

What fucking got me (sorry for swearing Blush) was the pathetic excuse OP used for getting rid of the dog in the first place.

That was what got posters riled straight away and anyone could look at previous threads and see she was lying Angry

LoopyLoopsRootyFroots · 07/11/2011 20:31

If anyone is 'scared shitless' by reading posts on the dog section of a parenting website, they need better help than you can give them Justine.

Banning a passionate and, yes, enraged, poster won't help. In fact, considering the good DBF has done through MN (I have personally received amazing help and know that many others have too), you are responsible for making parents' (and dogs', and childrens' lives) a lot worse. Well done you. Hmm

Rhinestone · 07/11/2011 20:31

Justine, this is a genuine question. How has The Doghouse become a scary place? Confused

If you're a backyard breeder then yes, maybe, but that's like saying Relationships is a scary place for men who emotionally / physically / sexually abuse their partners and AIBU is a scary place for controlling MILs.

Why does DBF get a ban and not other forthright posters?

I think we should have a Mumsnet Bunfights topic to go with mumsnet classics where we can all relive these threads ... ESP if we miss them Sad

RedwingWinter · 07/11/2011 20:31

I don't understand this talk of 'dogma in the doghouse' and the doghouse being scary. A lot of really useful advice is given out to people in the doghouse, and real life help as well (such as the recent puppy rehoming for which DBF and a couple of other posters were responsible - it was the kind of thing you'd think would make mumsnet feel proud).

I actually think DBF is an asset to mumsnet. Yes, she is blunt, but she knows what she's talking about and she's helped endless posters on here.

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 07/11/2011 20:31

What's an MRA ?

@Signet2012

Ive seen much much worse. TBF you only have to read AIBU to see some of the things people say to each other.

The lady who the dog thread was about was an idiot. She took on a dog that she could not look after hence it now needing rehoming DBF was not in my opinion rude, she was too the point.

She is no more rude than a handful of other posters who randomly post insults to people when they have nothing more constructive to say.

DBF is passionate about dogs and bound to be more emotive in any subject towards her welfare I didnt find anything wrong with her posts, the woman is a bloody idiot for getting a dog against all advice. She can hardly complain when people flame her for it!

Fair enough if DBF has been warned before but a total ban is over the top dont you think?

Yes I agree it would be if it was just this thread - but the lecturing and aggressive hectoring has gone on for some time, tbh. As said, the Doghouse is not exactly welcoming to posters who often are seeking help and practical advice, rather than a telling off. I do understand that many of us have strong feelings about the dogs, but a bit of compassion towards humans wouldn't go amiss. There was a poor woman a while back who got into trouble for not being able to cope with her dog after her dh died...

GrimmaTheNome · 07/11/2011 20:32

we are here to make parents' lives easier

only up to a point. Oh, if its easier, by all means buy a mill pup/PTS a healthy dog/let your untested dog have pups/etc etc.... Hmm

I'm sometimes one of the voices trying to moderate the tone in the doghouse, I didn't get involved with the nasty thread today but on one earlier this week I thought DBF was trying to be pretty reasonable. Sounds like she was provoked beyond endurance today Sad

Hullygully · 07/11/2011 20:33

TLES - Tiny Little Eagle Shoes

MRA - Mottled Radiator Arms

GetOrf · 07/11/2011 20:33

*Still don't think she should be banned.

OP posts:
ColdSancerre · 07/11/2011 20:33

I would also like to know if TLES is banned.

I'm incredulous that DBF has been banned over this. If people have been complaining its probably because they're the type of idiots that take on a dog without thinking it through. I'm passionate about cat rescue and it riles the fuck out of me that idiots take on cats and breed from them. I have said many choice things to such idiots over the years and I don't work in rescue and have to deal with the consequences. I'd like you to consider reinstating DBF as I don't believe that anything she said to TLES (a proven liar) was that bad.

LoveInAColdClimate · 07/11/2011 20:33

At least when she was being, er, robust DBF was doing so to help dogs. There are other posters who have their bandwagons and say awful things seemingly just to hurt people with no intention of doing any good. Xenia says horrible things about SAHMs all the time and is still here, for example (sorry, not sure if I should name names Blush).

welliesandpyjamas · 07/11/2011 20:34

LISTEN TO JUSTINE, PEOPLE! She keeps telling you, the ban was after a SERIES or warnings. As in "three (or however many) strikes and you're out".

Humph. Calm down and listen.

ItsonlymeMrsDB · 07/11/2011 20:34

That's not it Hully !

AmazingBouncingFerret · 07/11/2011 20:34

I've missed it all, what was the reason for TLES wanting to give up the dog?

wellies, shut up. That is all.

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2011 20:35

@StrandedBear

Is anyone else wondering when this thread will go poof?

Seriously Justine have you banned TLES? Would you re-consider the ban on DBF considering she was a)telling the truth and b) there are so many of us that actually like her

I don't know TLES's backstory but we will certainly look into it and will act if she has been deliberately inflaming etc - please do mail us with your concerns.

Happy to consider lifting a ban - obviously if loads of people think we should - but I do think the Doghouse has to change and I'm not sure if DBF can moderate her posting style - currently it's very anti the spirit of the site.

Hullygully · 07/11/2011 20:35

It wouldn't let her watch QVC

SacreLao · 07/11/2011 20:35

See I understand her being on a warning and no idea what for so not disputing that BUT she didn't say anything wrong on that thread so how has it suddenly gone from a warning to a ban?

If saying that was so bad then surely lots of other people, me included, who said things a lot worse should have been given bans or at least warnings?
