Cinder toffee done - with dark chocolate on top. It basically a crunchie what I made.

Unruly - yes see here. It is truly spectacular when you beat in the bicarb and it FOAMS UP. Then when it's cooled it's like a huge tray full of crunchie and THEN you pour melted dark chocolate over the top and it is a miracle . Make sure you use proper baking parchment though (not greaseproof paper) so you peel it off nicely.

Elfpants I bow down at the altar of your confectionary-making expertise. Whenever I make cinder toffee it either doesn't foam or tastes like bicarb of soda. Humph.

What a pain treacle, maybe you need to cook it for a bit longer when it's just the sugar and syrup in the pan? Mine got a bit alarmingly brown today but then foamed up bootifully. First time I made it it was too chewy and had almost no air bubbles in it

I think the raft originally had something to do with us being all at sea,adrift without a clue as to what was going on? Possibly? Maybe? It has been around for a while...

IRL I am confined to dry toast. On the raft I thought I might get away with the sugar high I have been promising myself. Also IRL I attended a family gathering today in jimjams and a dressing gown so I am having no truck with RL. On the raft I am wearing a pair of Katherine Hepburn style silk lounge pjamas which I am making look slightly androgynous but effortlessly sexy nonetheless.

I may still be slightly feverish.

I concur re Tolkien. Do we have any others on the go?
