AIBU Books Game Part Eight

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 12:49

Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

Hellooooooooo! Just trying to catch up after the tip-off that you were all back. :)

OP posts:
MoominMuggleandMy · 11/07/2011 15:22

Yay! Sunny/Nicksgirl - you swap so often you are permanently fixed at Sunny in my head.

Ooh, we are gathering nicely and all Potter-ed up too.Grin

I have no idea who you are, Nicksgirl, but I don't think you are being a bit U because I detest her already. MCP!

Isn't it a bit chilly flying skyclad through the skies of Soviet Russia, Treacle?

And spot-on Googling, Treacle, have a free ticket to the Rainbow Opera as a prize.

AIBU to not want this dog?

MoominMuggleandMy · 11/07/2011 15:31

Wheee! Elephants! Smile

Anyone spotted Pogle floating about?

steamedtreaclesnape · 11/07/2011 15:42

Yep, you've guessed it, Moomin! Have a pig called Nikolai as your prize...

Why don't you want the dog? Is it too big? Made of wool?

MoominMuggleandMy · 11/07/2011 16:02

Oh thank you!

...No, but I never asked for a dog for my birthday. And now it's me who's got to feed it and wash it and train it and take it for walks...

wingedbaLLANDBroomstick · 11/07/2011 22:40

Erm... MCP

AIBU to get tipsy?

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 11/07/2011 23:39

Moomin - she's so good at her job too - utterly dedicated to serving and protecting. And her dh buys her real coffee and real meat! Not soy stuff. [jealous]

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 11/07/2011 23:40

Bugger - [henvy] [hblush]

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 11/07/2011 23:41

EnvyBlush - why didn't the Potter ones work?

MoominMuggleandMy · 12/07/2011 00:24

They're not working for anyone now, Sunny/Nick! Confused And us all tricked out in fancy Potter names too!

Seriously impressed at your ingenuity, llandb. Very, very clever you. Finish off the fizzy lemonade as a reward since the Booklet has polished off your tolerance for the harder stuff.

Ok, soy substitute rather than real coffee or meat sounds futuristic, but I am stumpedy, stumpy, stumped after that. I hope she shares some of her largesse. MCP!

...All I wanted was for them to mend my bike so I wouldn't have to walk everywhere. Instead they gave me this goddam dog...

MoominMuggleandMy · 13/07/2011 12:45

Afternoon, all!

...And his conversational skills are terrible. Dogs really don't take a lot of interest in the world. Poo is a constant theme...

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 13/07/2011 13:16

Sometimes we get to work at her house, and there's always a concerted dash for the catering facilities. They've even got staff (well, one chap) and she and this man always act like they hate eachother, but deep down, I don't think they do. She hates having her hair done.

Btw - I have some bent pins and some string - maybe we could catch some fish with some of the luncheon basket scraps, Moomin?

steamedtreaclesnape · 13/07/2011 16:43

NIMCP!

And AIBU to run away?

MoominMuggleandMy · 14/07/2011 18:25

Treacle, you're not homeless again!

NIMCP on the tipsy person, the runaway, and the irritatingly perfect colleague!

...So I really don't think he's much of a companion. But then as the last boy in town I've not got a lot of choice when it comes to company. Men don't bother with boys...

butterbeerbelly · 15/07/2011 16:33

Treacle! If you plan to run away from this here raft, then yes, you are BU

wingedbaLLANDBroomstick · 15/07/2011 16:43

Pah - changed name to my uber-theme of drinks (them as needs to know how llandb is a drink, check out me profile). But back to this 'un as Moomin' seems to like it :o

Aw, shucks, Moomin. I dont' think I guessed a book (though my solitary extant post-booklet braincell is out wandering, so I can't be sure). So I guess it's the name you like.

ctually I think the ll and b name change theme was pollywobbledoodle's idea. Where is polly these days? I never did congratulate her on sampling a llandb!

wingedbaLLANDBroomstick · 15/07/2011 16:44
squaLLANDBonfire · 15/07/2011 16:59

Right. No more flyingballandbroomstick or butterbeerbelly.

Nearly Headless - is she an unscrupulous jewel thief?

Moomin- did the other boys leave of their own accord?

Well, they're starting to call out my behaviour and upstage me. Can't blame me for my nature though - I am a typical water rat, apparently...

MCP

Passes round fizzy drink

steamedtreaclesnape · 15/07/2011 17:42

Moomin, fortunately am not homeless, just spending some quality time with the raft!

Although I did just lose my job this afternoon Sad. Think I may be cursed - companies always seem to decide to restructure themselves shortly after I join! Ah well.

...we don't really want to run away, but the only other option is the orphanage...

MCP chaps!

squaLLANDBonfire · 15/07/2011 17:48

Bloody hell, treacle :(

steamedtreaclesnape · 15/07/2011 17:51

Aah, thanks llandb [hsmile]

I'm really pissed off, actually. AND they made me give my iPhone back so I can no longer Mumsnet on the move...

Pah. Hanging's too good for 'em.

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 15/07/2011 18:15

SquaLLANDBonfire - no, she is definitely not a criminal - quite the opposite, in fact. Her husband is THE most gorgeous irish chap - and rich as Creosote Wink[redherring]!

Steamedtreaclesnape - if you find me a pattern, maybe I could knit you a new iPhone?

MoominMuggleandMy · 15/07/2011 19:23

Oh noooo, Treacle! Sad Angry Hanging, chopping into pieces, and then jumping on all the pieces, is too good for them.

Still NIMCP on all of them here and, yes, it was your ingenuity with nicknames I was applauding, llandb - 'tis not the easiest moniker to tailor MN fashion!

...The other boys? Oh, they're all Men now because they're past their thirteenth birthdays. So they don't pay any attention to me. And, of course, there aren't any girls, or Women...

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 15/07/2011 19:46

Oooooh - that is ringing bells, Moomin - very faint ones, but bells. If I said Rosemary Sutcliff, would I be miles off the mark?

MoominMuggleandMy · 15/07/2011 22:40

'Fraid so, Nicksgirl, though I think I know which Sutcliff you have in mind. Think distant future rather than distant past.

I might have a glimmering on Treacle's. Is it Saint Winifred's Orphanage and Saint Bernard's Home for Boys that are looming ahead of you?

MCP all!

...There aren't any Women (or girls) because they're all dead. I wonder what they were like....
