AIBU Books Game Part Eight

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 12:49

Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

squaLLANDBonfire · 17/07/2011 18:18

Moomin, we're not talking about a telepathic dog with a visceral name, are we?

Nicksgirl, I'm stumped as a spatula of creosote.

And Treacle, are you running away because you hate it there or because you have somewhere you need to run to?

MCP everyone!

... Those silly ninnies allow horoscopes to rule their lives. When they'd be better off keeping their wits about them and quashing the competition...

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 17/07/2011 23:19

My friend's dh (oh, and the wedding day is another story too - she was so busy at her job that she nearly missed her own wedding) is not the only gallant knight in her life, and the other, though grey and fat, and first found at a crime scene, is also a comfort to her.

squaLLANDBonfire · 18/07/2011 00:01

Nicksgirl that sorta kinda sounds a tad as though there's a family with a tradition of weekday names in this ... can't place it though - MCP?

StayingNearlyHeadlessNicksGirl · 18/07/2011 00:04

Family is definitely going down the wrong track, LLANDB - my friend has no family apart from her dh, and had a terrible childhood.

steamedtreaclesnape · 19/07/2011 09:16

moomin, you got mine - and in about two clues, impressive!

still no idea on anyone else's though...

AIBU to be annoyed with my class?

squaLLANDBonfire · 20/07/2011 21:56

Depends, treacle. Are they not up to par? Do they fail to heed a warning? Are they mean to you?

steamedtreaclesnape · 27/07/2011 22:16

MCP llandb!

...they just keep doing all this work - how am I supposed to mark such long essays?

squaLLANDBonfire · 31/07/2011 13:39

Happy last of July, all!

Treacle, unless your class is trying to score points for Gryffindor, MCP!

Nicksgirl, I'm sure I ought to know yours, but I don't... is she a pious pilgrim type?

MCP!

...well, she may sneer that I'm a typical Water Rat, but what does she know about astrology? She didn't even consult her own chart and she ended up with a broken arm and demotion to maid, the little whipper-snapper. I thought I was safe after that! ...

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 31/07/2011 19:52

No religious convictions, but she is an assiduous seeker for Truth and Justice (particularly the latter). She is often injured whilst doing her job, and her rich husband has to force her to get medical care. Someone keeps stealing her candy bars, and that person is going to be very sorry when she catches them.

steamedtreaclesponge · 03/08/2011 13:25

No idea about anyone's here, but I like the sound of them!

...I was hoping that their parents would fork over some money to the University, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. How I'm supposed to find the time to work on my moon-shot I don't know...

squaLLANDBonfire · 04/08/2011 17:51

DavidTennantsGirl, I don't know yours but M Googleable CP! I'm guessing she has superpowers, then?

Treacle, ditto with the M Googleable CP!

... I mean she may have striking looks - some would say beautiful; I would say creepy... but it's not as though this house needs her. I bring in all the income they need!...

steamedtreaclesponge · 05/08/2011 09:49

...and I'm not at all happy about having a griffin in my class, even if her father is the former Dark Lord...

llandb, do you work for your 'uncle'?

llandb · 10/09/2011 18:45

Hello everyone! Sorry for abandoning the thread. Brain fried with RL packing of tottering piles for house-move.

Treacle, I suspect he may be my 'uncle' - I'll have to check :D but certainly on a regular daily basis, it is the auntie and granny that I have to defer to

Will have to google think about those clues!

steamedtreaclesponge · 19/09/2011 10:36

Nope, I think we are all guilty of thread abandonment!

I do wonder if it's because we've now done all the books we have in common and now have to move onto more obscure ones that noone can guess...

PrideOfChanur · 21/09/2011 15:13

Hi anyone who looks in - namechanged Pogle here!

Yes,guilty of thread abandonment here too,and I agree, Treacle,I think we've just exhausted the books we had in common.....but it was fun while it lasted!
Smile

And it was great meeting y'all

Griffin?

We met elsewhere,Treacle - and I did say Hi,but by then you'd gone!!

steamedtreaclesponge · 22/09/2011 11:45

Oh no!

PrideOfChanur · 22/09/2011 19:58

I knew there was a reason I missed this thread...Grin

I miss having a nice quiche thread to retreat to.And I wonder how everyone is,how're the jobs, and the flat share, and the new house, and how is the Booklet doing etc etc

CJCregg · 22/09/2011 22:07

Hello Grin

I just did Advanced Search on what I was posting this time last year and found you lovely lot ...

Also hugely guilty of thread-abandonment but think of you all often and just wish I had some more books in me ...

steamedtreaclesponge · 23/09/2011 09:17

Ah, I did slightly abandon the cycling thread as everyone seemed far more into it than me!

The houseshare with Elephants is still going strong - we've started up a local feminist group and are off to a ceilidh tonight Smile

PrideOfChanur · 24/09/2011 08:56

I'm still in awe of anyone who cycles in London!

Say hi to Elephants from me Glad its going well.

Hi CJ! Thanks for the cheesecake!

See you all around,I hope Smile

llandb · 07/11/2011 02:05
