AIBU Books Game Part Eight

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 12:49

Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

OP posts:
LLKH · 16/11/2010 18:46

Elephants does your DD have any special physical features you think might make her especially vulnerable to unscrupulous lads?

Also, is your relationship with her birth parents a bit contentious? (Did her birth father steal something from you?)

Pogleswood · 16/11/2010 19:26

What a lot of posts! (I quite liked the idea of a pointless chat thread....)

So,AIBU to lie about my identity?

InkyStamp · 16/11/2010 19:30

Elephants - is the view good from the attic?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 19:36

LLKH - how did you know about her thieving father? Yes my vegetable patch was never the same again, but my lovely DD has more than made up for it. I did worry about chopping off her lovely long hair, but no qualms about chucking that no-good bloke into the bramble patch - ha!

Did I mention in the OP that there are prizes? An extra-long plait to LLKH (don't thank me) and bonus phial of eye-curing tears to InkyStamp. :)

Pogle - Y might BU, if you are trying to trick someone into marriage perhaps? But not if you're in fear for your life. More clues please!

(Pogle - do start a Pointless chat thread!)

OP posts:
LLKH · 16/11/2010 19:50

Elephants I had the same craving as Rapunzel's mum in my first trimester. DH, however, grew veggies for me in the back garden rather than pinching them. And occasionally purchased them from that nice Mr. Sainsbury.

DH has just given me an extra-long plait of my own.

AIBU to wish my DD would settle down with a nice man with a steady income?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 19:59

YANBU - is she going for Unsuitable Types?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 16/11/2010 20:00

I was going to say ... a Pointless chat thread is a different thing altogether!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 20:53

Start one then young Claudia Jean.

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 16/11/2010 21:08

Not BU if in fear for life - tick! well, that was a short one...
...I'm in disguise at the moment, but we've been keeping our identity secret for so long now it's become second nature...

Or does she not want to settle down at all,LLKH?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/11/2010 21:09

No idea what yours is, mind you, Pogle :)

OP posts:
CJCregg · 16/11/2010 21:15

Apologies for being so pathetic. Ahem. I think I'm losing the plot a bit. Which is more than appropriate for this thread ...

Check it out!

LLKH · 16/11/2010 22:40

She's just turning down perfectly good offers.

winnybella · 16/11/2010 22:44

Does she have any sisters?

CJCregg · 16/11/2010 22:47

Is she turning her nose up at the man of the cloth?

LLKH · 17/11/2010 08:47

CJCregg, how did you know? He is not only respectable but has a very high ranking patron. I don't understand her objection.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 17/11/2010 10:42

Gosh CJ! It looks like your carnivorous bracing jokes were a good marinade preparation for the wider world for little Pointless.

AIBU to indulge in a spot of favouritism?

OP posts:
winnybella · 17/11/2010 11:36

What does your poor daughter have to say about it, though?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 17/11/2010 12:08

LLKH - in that case YABU. Hang in there, she'll outdo all the other in the end. But you'll probably never understand her, sorry. :)

...I don't have a daughter, if you're asking me. Only sons...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 17/11/2010 13:19

Hmm.How many sons exactly,Elephants?
If,for example, you prefer your younger sons and plan on giving one of them really cool clothes to demonstrate this - YADefBU. It will all work out in the end but prepare for grief in the meantime....

If not,MCP! Grin

And I have had to read LLKH's many times before the penny dropped - I am an idiot!!

LLKH · 17/11/2010 13:48

Well done everyone.

Elephants, I agree with Pogleswood. How many sons?

CJCregg · 17/11/2010 13:57

Or are you, Elephants, preparing to kill the fatted calf? (Wondering if animal slaughter is uppermost in your mind at the moment, due to the grisly turn my innocent lamb thread has taken ... who'd have thought my earlier jokes would seem so mild?!)

steamedtreaclesponge · 17/11/2010 14:55

More clues please!

And to belatedly answer Pogle's question... no, not back yet. Just missing home a bit and in a place with a good internet connection!

Anyway, suppose I'd better go - am off to celebrate my birthday with a load of people I just met...

Pogleswood · 17/11/2010 14:59

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,TREACLE!
Though of course you probably won't see that thought for some time now! Smile

CJCregg · 17/11/2010 17:19

Happy Birthday, Treacle! We miss you, drop in again soon!

Where are you at the moment, by the way?
