New thread to take us beyond February. Pull up a chair, make yourselves comfortable...let's do this!

@muddiecuddles welcome 😍 I think it's great that you've set your self a target that has really helped me to keep to stay AF.
Keep coming over here we are all a supportive bunch and have all been in the same boat

2021Hasgottabebetter · 08/04/2021 22:58

I started dry January a few days early and then was going to do lent as well....it seemed churlish to get off the wagon for just a couple of weeks in Feb, so went though to the end of lent....then it was only a few days to 100 days for me.
I think that I may have a little glass of something on Friday night....it'll be day 102!
Smaller targets have helped keep me on track
I also used timeanddate.com to set a target both counting up from when I started and down from 100 days.
Hang in there....it's possible!

muddiecuddles · 09/04/2021 07:43

Day 3 today!

CocoLady · 09/04/2021 20:07

Hello 👋🏻 everyone! How is everyone doing ? Thought I would check in, I have been AF since Sunday not v impressive to others but to me it's an achievement as I set out not to drink mon-fri at all and I have achieved that this week! I will be allowing myself a few tomorrow evening as promised but that's it's one day a week!

I will admit I have been eating soooo much I think to fill that deprivation I've felt, I hope it eases off ! I've enjoyed having my mornings back feeling more with it but I'm still so tired is this normal ? I've been waking up few times through the night my sleep has been rubbish and I thought It would be better !

Keep going everyone xxx 💪🏼

Hohofortherobbers · 09/04/2021 21:28

Well done cocolady and good start muddiecuddles! I'm still eating too much sugar at day 99 and I think that's become a bit of habit now, but probably not as bad calorifically as half a bottle of wine. So the big day tomorrow, 100 days dry.. .. And my wedding anniversary! I'm planning a glass of red to celebrate. Then I'll join you cocolady with the weekend moderation from there on

PeacheyPeach · 09/04/2021 22:40

Hi all @hohofortherobbers have a wonderful anniversary and well done on your 100 days 😍

Hohofortherobbers · 10/04/2021 20:16

Thank you peachypeach! Happy 100 days to you guys still with me. Well done to all you moderators. Am enjoying my first drink of 2021, a small glass of shiraz. Had flowers for wedding anniversary from dh this morning and a takeaway curry this evening to celebrate.

PeacheyPeach · 10/04/2021 20:17

Well I'm just sat here patting myself on my back as I've made it to 100 days ☺️ I'm a little bit chuffed with myself!! My plan is to carry on being AF as much as possible, but I do like the idea of having a drink with friends or a nice occasion but I never want to go back to mindlessly sinking bottles of wine night after night . I don't know when I shall have a drink though as I've lost all desire for it so I'm not in a rush to have start drinking yet xx

Hohofortherobbers · 11/04/2021 13:54

Well done @peacheypeach, I didn't sleep well after my half bottle of shiraz, felt a little anxious and had less than the usually brilliant sex. A reminder that drinking is not worth it. I think I will be back on the wagon again.

Hepzibar · 11/04/2021 17:14

@PeacheyPeach 100 for me too yesterday. Pretty pleased with myself (whilst still being astonished). I am carrying on, I like this new me. My weight loss has spurred me on to do WW and even move my lard arse, trying to walk more (more than zero) and have done a few You Tube beginners Pilates. I literally do not recognise myself.

I feel more confident and positive and thanks god that the mental torture of thinking about drinking, drinking, then feeling dreadful has gone. Liberation!

I don't trust myself to have the odd glass, worried I'll be back to where I started like so many have warned on theses threads. So am concerned about when the restaurants open

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 11/04/2021 17:40

Well done on 100 days, sorry I've been a bit late in my congratulations, I've been wallowing a little bit and feeling less than 100%

I'm really struggling to stay AF. Got a week off work now with the kids and DP and I'm very apprehensive. I'm not setting myself any challenges this week but I'm going to aim for 50 days afterwards. Or at least aim to get back to dry week days.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered don't b too hard on yourself! You got this just take each day and baby steps !

I had 6 days AF all the week which was my initial baby step goal then drinks round a friends house last night turned into half a bottle of wine tonight which I still felt in weekend mode but I wish I hadn't bothered !
I drank a fair bit last night n felt awful today in bed most of the day then thought right I'm ok now I deserve 2 glasses with dinner ! Work and school run tomorrow totally not worth it !

But I'm resetting tomorrow too and I think after another 5/6 day af period I'm going to attempt. Weekend or 10 days !! 😱 we see !
What I have noticed is that I was using alcohol to numb my stress n now need to find another way to deal with it , how do you do it with no drink to help you? Thanks

Keep going with your baby steps guys xx

TSBelliot · 13/04/2021 01:59

Hmmm well I am definitely off the wagon - probably not great this week - maybe 25 units so far. This is my first really poor week though so I am remembering I would usually have had loads of them by now.
Back on the wagon tomoz.

PeacheyPeach · 13/04/2021 14:34

@hepzibar I actually feel like you. I'm a bit nervous about having a drink and it starting me off on a slippery slope again, so I'm not sure if I want to try it out just yet x well done keep going 🥰

@tsbelliot @cocolady @MyGhastIsFlabbered
Hey ladies remember how rubbish you felt in January, so any thing has got to be better than the habit you had got into then 🥰 mini goals and targets are definitely the way to go 😍

Haggisfish · 13/04/2021 15:04

I’m back on! Day two here. I had an incredibly soaking wet February and March but did manage to start couch to 5k so now I want to dry out again. Well done to everyone who is still going!

TSBelliot · 13/04/2021 17:59

Yeah I need to focus back on the health stuff. Am going to start exercising as a change from thinking about exercising! I have lost the urge to keep drinking although that might not have been apparent at 3am this morning.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 16/04/2021 18:36

Hello everyone. I've had an absolute shit week but on a positive note I have joined a gym and will be back on the wagon on Monday - initially aiming for 2 dry weeks to reset.

OP posts:
Haggisfish · 16/04/2021 20:45

Well done my ghast!

PeacheyPeach · 17/04/2021 01:04

@myghastisflabbered wow that's great well done. miss gym bunny 😊Sorry you've had a bad week but think that you've come through it and now you've got a new goal in sight 🥰

I'm still not feeling it in respects of having a drink. DH asked me randomly tonight if I wanted a glass of wine and it just didn't appeal to me at all. Now I was sat freezing after being in the garden and had my scruffs on, maybe I will feel differently when it's a lovely warm summer evening but who knows!!

CocoLady · 17/04/2021 07:19

Well done @MyGhastIsFlabbered ! And hello 👋🏻 everyone hope you are all well !
I did 6 days AF last week v proud then absolutely nothing this week ! Not one dry day! So feel v ashamed Blush
Been a rough week extended family issues work house kids you the the usual !

I have to get my act togther soon as later in the year I want to start trying to conceive and will need to b drinking a hell of a lot less then !
Mind you on my first child I was out 3 nights a week getting hammered 😱🙃 didn't know I was pregnant til a month in I was mortified! Xx

TSBelliot · 17/04/2021 09:04

Yeah I haven’t done so well so will join in a two week reset. Might stretch that out if I feel like it too.

That’s a fab reason to go easy Coco Lady.

SilverLiningSearching · 18/04/2021 00:06

Long time lurker on this thread
Passed my 100 day milestone this week, I am too embarrassed to say how much money I’ve saved. I feel more at peace with myself and don’t know how I used to find the time to drink.
The coming weeks will be a challenge with the pubs reopening and warmer weather. Think I will have to keep myself busy and focus on the many benefits of being AF.

Hohofortherobbers · 18/04/2021 11:52

Back to day 1 for me Sad. Went to a bbq last night and had a bottle of red over the evening. Slept horrifically, feel ashamed that I drank, I threw up this morning and have a banging headache on this beautiful day. Not even moderation for me now, I am done with drinking. Well done all you guys who have stayed dry, I'm back with you.

CocoLady · 18/04/2021 19:53

@Hohofortherobbers don't feel ashamed it's the alcohol fault not yours, it's made to be addicted too we are jus caught in the trap. I do get the shame the next day but I remember I don't control alcohol it tried to control me.
I am back to trying to moderate mon- fri this week as last week was disastrous! Haven't been dry for 10 days !!
Anyone read any good books on alcohol or similar? I'm going to be reading the kindness method as was recommended to me x

PeacheyPeach · 19/04/2021 00:19

@silverliningsearching well done for passing the 100 day mark, it feels like such achievement doesn't it, I couldn't believe how much money and calories I've saved either it's crazy isn't it, @hohofortherobbers aww you've done amazing
#coand the fact that you were having a drink is nothing to feel ashamed about, your body probably just had a bit of a shock going from nothing to then a bottle . But I think one bottle over an entire evening is so easily done especially when your socializing you don't even realize sometimes do you xx
@cocolady another week beckons it's always easier starting on a fresh week I find .
