New thread to take us beyond February. Pull up a chair, make yourselves comfortable...let's do this!

I like the second dress best - it’s lovely, gorgeous colour and style. Fits too? No contest!

PeacheyPeach · 19/03/2021 21:56

I think both are gorgeous but I do like the second one. It's so chic. Would you wear anything in your hair?

OhioOhioOhio · 19/03/2021 21:58

Hey everyone!!! I'd go for the second one op. I managed to abstein tonight although it did feel tricky. How are all of you?

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 20/03/2021 10:09

Thanks @PeacheyPeach and @TSBelliot I think I was a bit worried dress 1 was a bit 'young' for me (being the wrong side of 45) but that dress 2 isn't 'fancy' enough. But I guess with better shoes that the model is wearing, a bouquet etc it could look amazing

I've become such a lightweight alcohol-wise. I can't even finish a bottle of wine these days. So moderation is going well for me. Though I feel rough this morning.

TSBelliot · 20/03/2021 11:43

Yeah with the right accessories it will have way more glory and power!

Haggisfish · 20/03/2021 13:34

Oooh I love dress two. Very opulent.

PeacheyPeach · 20/03/2021 15:18

I don't think the 1st dress is to young @myghastisflabbered and if you feel lovely in it you should go for it!! It's totally different in look to the second one isn't it though so depends on what look/theme you are going for? It's more floaty and whimsy (love that word!!) And would look gorgeous with flowers in your hair etc Whereas the second one is all velvet and 1930s style . I can see Amazing jeweled accessories with this style. It's your special big day so you want to feel your absolute best don't you.

Fab news on the moderating everyone. I'm a bit nervous at the thought of having a drink yet! I'm excited for a summer evening sat in the garden with maybe a lovely cold drink of something but it's just not appealing to me at the moment while it's cold and dark!!

Hohofortherobbers · 20/03/2021 18:44

Dress 2 is very elegant, is wedding beginning or end Sept? It can be a very warm month still and dress 1 would suit a balmy Indian summer weather. I'm still sober but wavering on day 79, I didn't mean to be dry this long and fancy breaking it but another 3 weeks and I'm 100 days dry, which seems a huge achievement to miss out on. Glad your moderating is effective myghast. I worry I'll be straight back up to my half bottle a night and bad nights sleep. Although PMT and perimenopausal symptoms seem to disturb my sleep quite a bit anyway these days

Hepzibar · 21/03/2021 14:18

Day 80 for anyone who started DJ and managed to continue. I am still totally amazed that I have managed to get this far.
I've lost about a stone, headaches finally went after about 8 weeks, and just started to have a decent sleep.

The best bit by far is mentally, don't hate myself anymore, don't have to wrestle with the dilemma of buying a bottle of wine and then justifying it to myself. My confidence has taken a massive boost.

If you are starting off it starting again- keep with it, it's so worth it.
100 days is next goal.

PeacheyPeach · 22/03/2021 15:36

@hepzibar we sound like we are on the same journey !! You've just described what I feel . Another 20 days until the big 100 mark it feels Great 😂

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 22/03/2021 15:47

@PeacheyPeach @Hepzibar I'm so proud of you - I wish I was on the same stage as you. But DP sabotages me, thinking he's treating me and I have no will power. I don't know how to redirect his efforts. I'm feeling annoyed at myself for being weak willed.

A quick hello as have been off the thread for a few weeks and haven't caught up yet. Still moderating, feel so good when I have a dry weekend that I will keep my drinking days down to an absolute minimum, only three days this month so far which is a huge drop for me.

Hepzibar · 22/03/2021 18:34

@PeacheyPeach @MyGhastIsFlabbered I know that the help and support from these threads kept me going in the beginning. Just to know that others felt the same and were going through the same thing helped beyond words.

I'm annoyed that it took me so long to go it but I guess you've just got to be in the right place in your head.

I do think that knowing how my body reacted to detoxing surprised me, I naively expected to feel fantastic as soon as I stopped. Mad really- it took me years to get in that position so how I thought it would all hunky dory in 24 hours is a mystery to me - now. Total denial of how bad I had got.

And... I fit in a pair of size 14 trousers today! (A bit tight but I wore them anyway)

If you are reading this and thinking you can't. You can.

PeacheyPeach · 22/03/2021 21:16

@myghastisflabbered instead of looking at it in a negative way think how well you are doing at moderating. That is a fantastic achievement .

@hepzibar I was so shocked at how awful I felt at the start being unable to get sleep and feeling so tired it made me realize how much I'd been damaging my health. Losing weight has been a real boost to. But I am on a diet so I best had be losing it. Can't believe actually how much weight I'd put on it was more than my end of pregnancy weight 😂

@santamonicapier that's amazing, it must be a great feeling being in control x

PeacheyPeach · 24/03/2021 21:50

Hi all x a bit quiet round these parts hope everyone is doing ok x

BananasAboutBananas · 25/03/2021 07:41

I'm on day 10 of my 14 day detox - so proud of myself, I don't think I really believed I could do it! I'm starting to think about what I do at the end of the 14 days which is where I'm worried I will slip back to bad habits - does anyone have any advice?

PeacheyPeach · 25/03/2021 15:56

@bananasaboutbananas well done it's such a great feeling isn't it.
What is your goal after the time frame you've given yourself.do you want to moderate or stay alcohol free? My plan I think when I've reached 100 days Af is going to be that I will have a specific day of the week were I'm going to have a drink ( obvs not drink the whole of the day!) So I might plan that for the Saturday that's when I will have a drink. But if Saturday comes and Im not fussed I'm not going to make myself have a drink for the sake of. I will just move my day until the next week. So for me it's still feeling in control .

Hohofortherobbers · 25/03/2021 21:12

Well done Bananas, keep up the good work, it was pointed out to me today my 100 days will be up on my wedding anniversary! So I'm digging in and committed to the last 16 days

TSBelliot · 26/03/2021 17:53

Hello All,

Moderators and AFers:)

Have been doing well until this week - have indulged, for the first time, in mid week drinking but (defensive?) haven’t had much. That said I am sticking to weekends for the rest of the foreseeable weeks.

I am still drinking at 10-15% of what I was drinking before so am happy with that. I could report my units to a doctor without fibbing!

TSBelliot · 26/03/2021 17:55

Bananas - keep posting - time to reflect and count as really helped me. I must have been meaning to drink less for years but this is first time I managed it!

BananasAboutBananas · 27/03/2021 08:39

Thanks all. I'm definitely hoping to limit drinking to the weekends only, and to keep it to a glass rather than a bottle! I ended up drinking (too much) champagne last night as we had some really good news that needed celebrating, and I feel rubbish this morning, but it's made me really think about my triggers and want to dig in and stay dry this week.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 27/03/2021 10:26

Hi everyone. I've had an awful week and I've really struggled mentally. But I've not given into temptation and had wine in the week which is something of a miracle. I bought a relatively expensive bottle of Chablis last night and it tasted bloody awful.

We are having some champagne tonight as it should have been our wedding day but we've postponed because of COVID

OP posts:
PeacheyPeach · 27/03/2021 16:30

@myghastisflabbered sorry to hear you've had a bad week hope you are feeling better soon xx
Enjoy your champagne 🥂 and think how fantastic your wedding will be when it comes x

TSBelliot · 27/03/2021 19:35

Well done ghastly in getting through - enjoy tonight

PeacheyPeach · 29/03/2021 10:23
