It is a funny old world Longest. I did a similar story recently about a guy who was almost killed in a car crash, suffered severe abdominal injuries and lost his appendix. When they sent it off to be checked over, they discovered a rare type of tumour which usually goes undetected till it’s too late to treat.

Luckily DS isn’t as bad as that, just some horrible bruises and grazes on his face and head. It’s not stopped him going out though - he was late home tonight, just to scare me some more.

Frouby body balance is quite hard on the muscles, but you’ll probably be ok because you’re pretty active anyway. It’s not knackering cardio like some classes where you think you might puke!

I loved body combat tonight. It’s fast becoming my favourite class of the week. I’m looking forward to the day I’m not the fattest and rubbishest in the class. I’m definitely getting better at it.
I feel properly worn out after it, which combined with my lovely line-dried sheets is a really good feeling. I should probably get off my phone and catch some zzzzs...

Accidentalaccountant · 05/02/2020 06:17

2 glasses last night. Bed at 8.30 and woke at 6. Scary stuff 're the gangs. All seems to be getting worse.
Body balance is gentle but may prove that things you took for granted 20 plus years ago like balancing on one leg are long gone.
Running club tonight

MadameF · 05/02/2020 06:46

Running club last night, ran further than I usually do, 24kms including the morning dog run before work so stupidly thought I earned a glass of wine last night when I got back. Shared a bottle of red with DP who seems to find it impossible to say no to the offer of a glass of wine. Oh well.
NC4 so sorry about DS1, there are some horrible gangs around. I'm glad you enjoyed your combat class. I love line dried sheets too, I have a tumble drier but use it on average once a year. I hate it. I dry things on a clothes rack if it is raining.
Frouby I'm sure you will lose your kg. You eat heathily. Even though last week I ran 115km, cycled 45km, swam 2;2km I didn't lose any weight, even put on a half a kilo. I eat too much chocolate and if I drink wine any will power to not eat it in the evening goes out of the window.
Will try and do better tonight Blush

NC4Now · 05/02/2020 09:06

Oh actually, I'm thinking of Total Tone rather than Body Balance - ignore me!
That's such a long way to run Madame!! How long does it take? I can't imagine having enough hours in the day to run 24km.
I daren't weigh myself. I will probably have lost 1lb or so this week but I had two terrible weeks and if I'm not actively trying to lose weight I always gain - and often around 2lb a week.
Accidental two glasses of wine and a 9.5 hour sleep sounds amazing! My sleep was disappointing in the end. I had restless legs so couldn't settle for ages, till I took some painkillers.
Oh well - Wednesday already...

MadameF · 05/02/2020 09:30

NC4 I get up at (6.15) and run in the dark before work (8km), then run when I get home at 6pm (16km). For training I only run at just under11km/h so yes, it takes time (around 2h15 in total) but once you get into a habit of running daily it's easy. Even in the wind and the rain!
I love being outside. I don't think my motivation would be as strong for the gym, although I should do more weight training at my old age.

longestlurkerever · 05/02/2020 10:20

That's my problem too Mme, though with dh being resolute i reckon i can be too, and only drink when out/hosting. Which was sort of my aim when i first joined the thread but the prospect doesn't fill me with great joy. Perhaps I'll get used to the idea. I did wake up feeling more refreshed this morning so that's something.

Waterandlemonjuice · 05/02/2020 10:28

In my fantasy world I run like that Madame!

NC4 I hope they have enough to convict them, poor ds. And you, waiting for him to come in. Clean sheets sound lovely.

Accidental, that’s moderating I reckon, well done.

All the body combat and gym and running is making me feel slothful, which I am, indeed.

Longest, what colour is hour kitchen going to be?

Today is day 3 AF assuming I don’t drink tonight, which I won’t.

Had to get up early, ugh, to take dh’s car in to be looked at (he’s taken mine to work) and they reckon it’ll take all day but they offered a cab on their account home and back again to collect it so I am home on the sofa. I think we’ll have sea bass tonight as dd wrinkled her nose when I said Thai curry so we’ll have that tomorrow instead and she can have a pot noodle if she doesn’t want it 😂

I’m seeing a GP tomorrow about the menopause tomorrow and full blood tests include liver function but I think I’m too scared to have that so will go for just asking for one for hormone levels, eek. Although I think the last four months have been an improvement (AF most of November and most of January and most of February so far so just December which was dreadful on the AF front)

longestlurkerever · 05/02/2020 11:13

Boringly just white, water - it's repairing various damp patches etc. If they do a good job i may consider getting them to do the living room which is currently grey but might carry off some kind of plum or teal. But really the boring external paintwork and fencing and damp are priorities and my budget is under strain. Perhaps i can spend my newfound sober evenings painting.

NC4Now · 05/02/2020 13:11

How have they done the damp patches Longest? I have a couple too. The ones at the back are condensation so I'm going to use anti-condensation paint in there but there's a patch of penetrating damp just inside my vestibule I'd like looking at.
I've also got a list of jobs I'd like done on my home and a limited budget. The joy of home ownership, eh?!

Frouby · 05/02/2020 18:02

Is it just my juvenile sense of humour that smirked at 'patch of penetrating damp inside my vestibule' 😂😂😂.

Jesus fuck, had my mam here all day filling in her universal credit application. How the actual fuck they expect anyone without a decent laptop or pc knowledge to complete that I have no idea. Took her some shopping as well, she's really struggling. Am fuming with her employer, shes worked there 25 years on between 20 to 40 hours. About 8 years employer got her to sign a zero hours contract. Sold the business (its a sandwich shop) and new owner took over. Been gradually reducing over thenlast few years then announced last week everyone had to lose a third of their hours.

Dmum is 65, retires in September and has quite a few health issues but not ill enough to claim any disability benefits. So just trying to get her to then. Will claim discretionary housing payment once we have the UC through, she has a 2 bedroomed flat (council) so will get any entitlement reduced because of that.

Poor old lass, shamefull really that she is in this position. Life hasn't been kind to her financially. Am hoping my sisters and knobhead brother also help out a bit financially until she is in a better place. Ideally the shop will go bankrupt before she retires and she gets made redundant, then she can claim JSA or whatever it is. She missed out on retirement at 60 by 6 months.

Not sure if I will make my 5 day challenge after all that. Feel that lonely little Budweiser has been sad enough all week. Going to have a shower and see how I feel. 2nd gousto box turned up today as well, not sure what to cook from it. Have a choice of chicken pad thai, king prawn linguine or Korean style chicken.

What I really fancy is a jacket spud and cheese and beans 😂😂😂.

longestlurkerever · 05/02/2020 18:36

Oh Frouby, it makes me so sad and angry, your poor mum. Shameful is right. I'm glad she's got you to help her.

NC4, these were historic damp patches from a leaking pipe, so they've just treated them with something and painted over. But there's some kind of leak in the cellar too and possibly in the drain, either or both is implicated in rat gate but no one seems to be able to access the drain to sort it fml. Still painting looks good so far and at least i now have a handy person who shows up when they say they will, even if it is costing £££.

I am attempting spag bol but with spiralised veg instead of proper pasta. Nit wholly convinced dh's digestive system can handle this stuff but we are pushing through to see if he adjusts.

Checking in for AF day 3.

Waterandlemonjuice · 05/02/2020 19:25

Frouby that sounds awful for your mum, I hope your family atep up and help.

I’m in the money pit club too. Our house is a 300 year old money pit and we too have had leaky bits, we have a damp wall from where a shower leaked ages ago. The shower is fixed but the wall is still green.

I am Nigella-esque again 😂 We had sea bass with caper and lemon butter, broccoli with anchovies, rosemary, garlic and chilli, rocket with Parmesan and balsamic, another leafy salad with pomegranate seeds and red peppers and baby potatoes roasted in their skins with olive oil and salt. No wine.

So day 3 AF here, feels like longer tbh. Bit nervous about GP tomorrow.

Saw this and thought of us all

NC4Now · 05/02/2020 20:07

Frouby 🤣🤣🤣at my vestibule problems!
Your poor mum. The system is stacked against people who are already disadvantaged.
My house isn’t so bad really- it’s just maintenance but my friend, who I bought it from, did a lot to make it nice before I moved in. New plaster etc.
Glad you’ve found a handyman Longest. My ex (well technically still) BIL has just set up as a handyman and invited me to like his page. He has done loads of work on my home when I was married to his brother, to a really good standard, so I might ask him to do a few jobs for me.
What did you have for tea in the end Frouby? We had fajitas tonight. I’ve got the innards of a steak and ale pie in the slow cooker which I’ll freeze ready for Sunday, because the meat is on a short date.
I’m on day 5 but planning on carrying on the streak till weekend, if poss.

Frouby · 05/02/2020 21:16

Had the korean chicken, was nice actually, really tasty though I just did normal rice not crispy rice as I didn't fancy scrubbing the pan after 😁.

I might do a meat and potato pie next week. Haven't done one for ages. Its one of DHs favourites and have to do a massive one as he gets sad if he only gets a diddy bit.

The box looks nice again. You get loads for the £20 sign up offer. And the portions are quite generous actually. I order the 4 person one as dd will sometimes pick at a non veggie meal if she can take the meat out and dh likes a proper man portion but did a portion for 2 people tonight and although there wasnt loads there was enough.

Probably why I am fat, I eat healthily but just too much. That's a hangover from slimming world I think, they definitely don't promote portion control.

Wasn't dry in the end. 1 bottle of bud, 2 cans of carling which is moderate really considering 3 dry days and dry tomorrow cos gym.

longestlurkerever · 05/02/2020 21:53

I had a big pile of mince really - spag bol without the spag. Am not wholly convinced this is a good plan, as i am still eating carbs the rest of the day.

Dh offered me wine and i said no! Shock. Had a nanny state. It does feel a bit weird though, a long AF stretch (ok 3 days so far- not very long,). Kind of like i am just waiting for bed to roll around. I did manage a bit of piano practice though, and the online shopping arrived full of low varn goodies.

MadameF · 06/02/2020 06:41

Longest that's how I eat my spag bog, the sauce without pasta and a lot of salad. I rarely eat carbs in the evening. Last night was a cod fillet with green salad. I eat green salad with everything except soup Grin but after adding the vinaigrette it probably isn't very healthy and carbs would be lower calorie. I never eat breakfast and have homemade soup for lunch in the winter with some bread. We eat very simply but it is all cooked from scratch.
I worked on the new old house yesterday, it is starting to look a lot better. Not AF as I spoke to DM who is still in hospital and my brother who is there at the moment. It isn't looking very good, we should know more today with the MRI scan results.

longestlurkerever · 06/02/2020 09:33

Fair enough Mme! Yes, it's not that i think no carbs will kill me, more that dh is supposed to be eating the highest fat meat with extra lard and i have no idea where this will leave my body! Might be good to cut down on carbs though as i have pcos and need to keep an eye on my blood sugars. I am sleeping well, anyway, but just a bit flat and bored. Looking forward to Spring, though would have liked a proper cold snap with snow.

NC4Now · 06/02/2020 09:38

I did the blood sugar thing when I first started training with my PT in 2016. I did lose a lot of weight very quickly and felt really good on it but it sent my periods haywire. I used to eat spag bol or chilli with shredded iceberg lettuce, and I did quite enjoy it. I might do that again for a few meals - carbs or no carbs, it's a quick way to cut out a ton of calories from the meal. I do love pasta though...

Waterandlemonjuice · 06/02/2020 10:58

I’m sorry the news about your mum isn’t good Madame 💐

Waterandlemonjuice · 06/02/2020 11:04

I lost loads of weight on the 8 week blood sugar diet (not surprisingly its 800 cals a day for 8 weeks) but went back to sugar and carbs dammit. I’m intending doing the 5:2 as a halfway house, will start next week.

Today is day 4 AF this week, day 24 AF this year (out of 37) so that’s 65% AF, hmm, I think I’d like to be doing better than that really. Debating whether to have full bloods later including liver function but I think I’m too scared. I might just have basics and do the full one in a few months after some more AF weeks and losing some weight. Coward that I am!

Waterandlemonjuice · 06/02/2020 11:07

Longest, low carb high fat is effective for losing weight as long as it’s good fats like olive oil, avocados etc. I lost 4 stone cutting out sugar and carbs but eating high fat, lots of mayonnaise, olive oil, vegetables, fish etc. But put it back on as a result of wine, sugar carbs etc. Of a bottle of wine I think half is sugar so there you go. When I did that I did drink wine, but only at weekends, pretty strictly.

NC4Now · 06/02/2020 13:24

You're better having red wine if you're doing that too, aren't you Water. And by the glass, rather than by the bottle!
I'm going to work out my percentage now. I'm on day 5 of the streak and 31 of the year. I've just been given a new badge on my app!

NC4Now · 06/02/2020 13:26

Umm... what's the formula? I think I'm at 72% but that doesn't account for the vast quantities... aiming to reduce those this weekend.

NC4Now · 06/02/2020 13:28

Oh hang on - I'm on day 6 of 36! That puts me at 83% I can do that one.

longestlurkerever · 06/02/2020 14:12

Wow NC4, that's impressive!

Mme, i am so sorry i missed your news about your mum. Thinking of you.

Does it work if you just skip carbs in some meals? Dh is aiming for ketosis so has to be v strict but i obviously have more leeway and am only eating (and not drinking) with him in the evenings.

Is gorgeous weather today. Shame i am stuck in work
