Evening all

Have avoided SM all day because of the election stuff. I voted labour and was sad but not surprised and actually a little bit relieved when I saw the result. After so many years of uncertainty and brexit from a purely business and political point of view the country needs a period of stability to rebuild business and industry. Without confidence from business it doesn't matter how left the government is, there will be no money. And I am a very liberal, very left labour lover.

But anyway it was ds 6th birthday today. Hes had an amazing day, a lovely party and been thoroughly spoilt by everyone. Tomorrow I need to pack and clean then Sunday am off to Tenerife. Not dry. Don't care 😂😂😂

Oh Dion my heart goes out to you. It's all so very wearing. I wish there was something we could do to make it all a bit more manageable.
Financially, I know you've said before that XH doesn't contribute but I can't remember why.
And the pain - what is it caused by? Can you get referred to a pain clinic if it's chronic?
You sound very low. You really could do with someone to look after you a bit (and I totally relate to feeling like that). CakeBrew

Happy birthday to FroubyDS!! Glad he's having a nice time.

I'm about to give myself a shake and go swimming, then sort the house out and making a roast for tea. My mum's coming over - I think she's a bit lonely so it will be nice for her to come to ours for tea.

Waterandlemonjuice · 14/12/2019 15:33

I’m so sorry Dionysa. There will be a way. 💐

Frouby lol at don’t care! Enjoy your holiday.

Not AF last night, won’t be today, don’t care either! Watched Ad Astra yesterday which was dreadful, should be called Ad Nauseum 😂

About to get a tree but feel a bit grumpy, probably pmt.

longestlurkerever · 14/12/2019 16:51

Dion, it sounds terrible. Can you just go to A and E and refuse to leave without drugs? I don't know what to say about money. Will things get easier when ds finishes school? Is there anything you can do to tide yourself over till then? Do you need debt advice?

Am about to commence dual party marathon but resisted mulled wine at pre party carols at the library so winning! Ask me again tomorrow how that panned out.

Happy birthday frouby ds!

longestlurkerever · 14/12/2019 16:52

Ps typing this from post office queue. Will drive me to drink on its own. Ooh person in front of me has given up -woo!

Frouby · 14/12/2019 17:34

Evening all

dion hugs lovely. Get help with the pain, go back to GP and demand painkillers. Chronic pain is awful, it will make everything seem 100 times worse.

Well we are packed. House a bombsite but clean. Ds got loads of presents which is lovely but in true 6 year old fashion has had to open everything he could and build lego sets, set nerf guns up and whatever else he could get away with. Managed to stash a few for when we come home tho. He's still thoroughly overexcited not least because we are off on holiday tomorrow.

Few bits to do tomorrow morning. We are leaving at 9am so up, showered and dressed and off we go.

Having a couple of beers, then an early night. Am very looking forward to a week away. I get loads of reading done on holiday and have a fully loaded kindle, spare reading light as mine is a bit trashed due to ds sitting on it the other week and it's an old kindle so they don't sell the covers with lights anymore. Think it's a ploy to make you buy a paperlight Hmm.

So behave while I am gone and adios senoritas!

Bon Voyage Frouby ✈️ 👙 ☀️

Countryescape · 15/12/2019 04:36

Yes please. I’ve done pretty well this week. One bottle of wine over the week. Really good for me.

longestlurkerever · 15/12/2019 20:09

Evening all. Pretty heavy weekend though did not go mad. Three Christmas parties. One homely one with home made pork pies and mulled cider and guests slitting their wrists over the election, one lavish one with bottomless champagne, canapes and waiting staff in a street with iron gates with some sheik"s crest on and private security, and then my own, when had just got in door with bags of cut price snacks and pound shop crafts when guests arrived. House barely tidied and realised i do not own serving platters and dishes so everything was dished up in makeshift tins and casseroles. Feel like a slightly failed human. Still, was good to see friends and then popped out to carol singing outside the library, which was really lovely. I do like our little community, bubble though it is. How is everyone else doing?

Waterandlemonjuice · 15/12/2019 21:15

Longest, those sound very different parties!

I’m not great. Had an enormous row with dh tonight. I was probably in the wrong. Feel full of hormonal rage. Have an interview on Wednesday and don’t want to go. Have a social event on Tuesday and don’t want to go. Seeing counsellor tomorrow, don’t want to go. Oh, theres a theme here...

Have been fantasising about booking into a country hotel for the week but obviously that’s not really practical plus I have to drive to get ds one day which is a 5 hour round trip. Electricians need to come back as they didn’t fix everything. Plumber needs to come back as radiators in two rooms aren’t working. He says new thermostats needed so thats extra £. School fees invoice is in too so that’s great. Not AF at all. feel distinctly FML ish.

Waterandlemonjuice · 15/12/2019 21:16

Welcome countryescape. That’s very moderate, good for you.

longestlurkerever · 15/12/2019 23:06

Ah water, i am sorry you had a shit day. I too am hormonal. Kids wouldn't shut up about making gingerbread at the worst possible time when i was tearing my hair out getting house ready and i lost it slightly and told them I couldn't cope.

Also worried about unidentified rodent issue and being way over budget for Christmas and associated expense. The world and his wife seem to want gifts and contributions and donations and fees for things.

Adding in the election and my period into the busiest week of the year feels like a cruel joke really.

Mil offered to babysit tomorrow so we can use a restaurant voucher thing but i don't think i really want to go out and spend more money (voucher won't cover everything) and have another late night.

MadameF · 17/12/2019 06:55

Longest did you make it to the resto? What rodents do you have? Can you put out some mousetraps? They work really well.

Water are you feeling better about everything now?

Dion how are you? I hope the DC are behaving and the pain has subsided a little, it must be so hard for you to bear that permanently.

My week-end away was very nice and we even had some sunshine for walking along the coastal path on Sunday. It wasn't very AF, but I've made up for it now as I have a nasty gastroenteritis and have lost 2kgs down the toilet since Sunday night. Am managing to drag myself to work but not much else. Following a good start at school DS performance and behaviour has dropped of the scale so the computer my dad gave him has been banned, like the PS was last year. Can't really get into the Christmas spirit despite my lovely tree. I think it is all the rain , grey skies and the strikes against pension reforms here which are really hurting people who want to get to work and independent shopkeepers in town centres.

Dionysa · 17/12/2019 21:19

I am staggering back, through of fog of awfulness.

Madame, I'm so sorry that you have succumbed to gastro. It's hideous. I hope you recover soon.

No Christmas spirit here, unless gin is a Christmas spirit.

DP was lovely, until he wasn't. Which is completely predictable, but has still thrown me into the depths of misery. So have other things, but this thread is a bit of a lifeline so I mustn't abandon it too.

Longest, how are you doing?

Hello, Country!

Frouby, I know you won't be reading, but hope you are having a fab holiday. xx

Dionysa · 17/12/2019 21:19

Sorry, Water. My typing is ahead of my mind. I'm with you in the FML camp. x

Waterandlemonjuice · 17/12/2019 22:31

Hello, today has been better, thankfully. Went to counselling on Monday, didn’t goto social event tonight, am going to interview tomorrow and after that things should calm down a bit.

But I’M AF TONIGHT! About time too.

Waterandlemonjuice · 17/12/2019 22:36

Longest, sorry about rodent and period and gingerbread! I hope your week has improved.

Madame, oh no re gastro, I hope you feel better soon. And that the metaphorical and literal gloom lift soon

Dionysa, sorry dp is being a wankerbastard again. Post here, even if you’re drinking, I have been! Today is only the third AF day in December for me fgs, which is rubbish. I had The Fear at 5am today but managed to get back to sleep from 6am-8am so that’s something.

Waterandlemonjuice · 17/12/2019 22:37

On the bright side, boiler is fixed. So it’s warm.

longestlurkerever · 17/12/2019 22:54

Dion, sending gentle hugs, you gorgeous human. Mme, hugs too, gastro is awful. Glad things are looking a little brighter for you water.

I am all right thanks. Didn't go out last night which was a wise decision i think, and tonight has been quiet AF night on sofa writing final batch of Christmas cards. Saw dsis and baby DN for quick cuddle as they were passing my office which was cheering.

Rodents are as yet unconfirmed but i fear worse than mice due to loudness of scrabbling and evidence of gnawing. Victorian terracee with shared bare earth cand crappy plasterwork is recipe for disaster. V stressed but have tracked down local pest superhero and am hoping he can squeeze us in this week. In the meantime i have a weapons arsenal to put a minor despot to shame.

Busy but nice day planned tomorrow. Have to go to work then come home to fetch dd1, head back into town for tutenkhamun exhibition, then bring her home and swap her for dh, who is accompanying me to Christmas gig nwar king's cross. Bit mad but i can't resist a bargain and Egypt exhibition is normally £30 each.

Right, heating has gone off and is freezing so will say night night xx

MadameF · 18/12/2019 06:56

Longest how exciting for the exhibition - it was in Paris this summer, some friends of mine went and really enjoyed it, I'm sure you and DD1 will too! I hope the pest control manages to get the rat rodent problem sorted. I managed to get rid of mine with traps then drowning them. I won't use poison because it is such a risk to dogs and cats either through primary or secondary poisoning.

Dion Yay for DP being lovely and oh non for subsequent behaviour. Only to be expected I suppose with Christmas approaching. Please look after yourself rather than other people all the time.

Water Well done on AF, the heating and good luck with your interview today Flowers

I'm sorry to say that my gastro is still very present, I really thought it would have gone by now. I might have to try and see a doctor. At least it is keeping me AF Hmm and bum sex is definitely out of the question Grin

NC4Now · 18/12/2019 08:29

Tutenkhamun exhibition sounds excellent! Hope you enjoyed it and the gig Longest.
Poor Madame's bum. I bet you feel drained by it, being ill for a few days.
Dion definitely don't abandon the thread. You're right - it's a bit of a lifeline for me too.
Water - heating!!! What a relief!

I was at a works do last night, so was definitely not dry. Overdid it on pink Zinfandel which is not my wine of choice, but I didn't let that stop me. Low level hanxiety today - could be much worse, but could be a lot better.

My new dining table arrives shortly. I just hope it looks good in situ. It's a big item to be carting back to the post office!

NC4Now · 18/12/2019 15:22

It's here!!

Waterandlemonjuice · 18/12/2019 15:30

Lovely table NC4. Sorry to hear of pink zinfandel, eww and hangxiety, horrible feeling that.

Lol at Madame having to forgo bumsex because of erm, bum isshoos

Longest, we had a huge rat once, was a Victorian terrace too. It chewed inches off our kitchen door.

Interview was shit, they clearly hated me as it was over in less than 40 minutes, which is never a good sign. Was an hour each way to get there so maybe for the best. Oh well. Want to drink cocktails tonight but waiting to hear if friend is free. FML.

NC4Now · 18/12/2019 16:03

Ahh, shit about the interview Water. I'd go for cocktails with you if you were nearer.
A stroke of luck here - I found a parking fine that got buried under a pile of Christmas cards, and past the reduced fee time period. Went online expecting it to cost me £100. I'd already paid it!!

Frouby · 18/12/2019 22:11

Hola senoritas. Having a lovely holiday. Very pissed as a fart most of every day so far. So winning at holidays. Hotel is lovely but room very small but chatting to other guests we got an absolute bargain. We are bang on the ses front in the middle of everything so chuffed.

Bit disappointed to go to our favourite restaurant in world and find its changed hands since last year though. Sigh.

But having a fab time anyway. Too pissed to reply properly x
