I’m only smashing it cos I’m ill Longest 😂 I’ve just had a lemsip in the hope I might be up to wine later.

My friend, who is getting divorced, has just been to view a house over the road from me. It’s really lovely - she loves my place, and it would suit her.

I’m trying to decide if it would be lovely or a catastrophe having a good friend over the road and a new pub on the corner!

longestlurkerever · 14/06/2019 17:51

Would be nice I think? As long as they really are a good friend and not someone who will grate on you in time. A family I know from school moved in 2 doors down and I was a bit worried because he can be a bit of a geezer and has fallen out with people in the past but it's been great really - we help each other out with the kids, we go and watch their sky sports and sometimes go drinking together. Oh and he stopped my house flooding a while back when we had a burst pipe.

Flossie44 · 14/06/2019 18:34

NC4 - hoping the lemsip works for you.

Longest - the family down the road sound great!!

Frouby - sounds like you’ve got your weekend sorted!! I hate trying to clean when everyone’s home. Just ends up in world war 3! I had the house to myself for 2 hours this morn. Can’t remember the last time that happened..so I cleaned and ironed. Surprising what can be done when you know you’re against the clock. House smelling lovely now and everyone has clean clothes.

Dion - well done on moderating with gin friend. How’s the cold? I drink through a cold but change to red wine in the hope it has some goodness in it!! 😂 hope you get better soon. When’s ds home? Mines gone to stay at a mates tonight which means it’s quiet again with just the two girls. Makes such a difference!!

Dd has ambulance to school today but seems fine again now. I’m so glad it’s the weekend.

I weighed myself after one week of eating sensibly. In fact I have eaten mega healthily!! And only lost half a bloody pound!! Dh, who eats crap, and gets shit food in service stations while out and about for work, weighed himself last night and has lost 6lb this week!! Knobber!! He’s had 4 af days. He reckons that’s his answer!! I reckon he just had a big poo as that seems to be all he needs to loose weight!!!!!

MadameForest · 14/06/2019 19:08

Frouby thankyou for your hen advice. I have a Rhode Island Red and a Maran, so both good for eating apparently, but I could never do thatShock. I'll try shifting the Maran off her nest and shut her out of the hen house in the day.
You are my hen and guinea-pig guru Smile
NC4 Hope you are feeling better and you are lucky having a supportive ex. I'm currently not speaking to mine as he is refusing to go halves on driving lessons for DD. In France there is a minimum of 20 lessons, most learners take 30 and at 44€ a lesson that adds up to quite a sum.
Longest I don't like gin either so will join you with wine if we have our swampy night!
Hippy well done on 5 nights AF, very impressive. Enjoy your yoga tomorrow.
I'm having a drink alone. Monsieur Forest helped me in the garden all day, cutting lots of hedges, strimming (the first non rainy day for quite a while). This was after my run, I also did at least 10 loads of gite washing and hanging out. We finished about 4.30 and I decided to go out for a 40km bike ride to relax, MF flopped in a chair. When I got back he was still flopped in the chair but now had a headache. He has gone to bed for an hour.
Men are definitely the weaker sex.

Frouby · 14/06/2019 19:10

flossie I reckon a good poo is the key to weight loss. Have been struggling due to no beer the last few weeks. But have had a few cans already tonight and feel pissed as a fart already. Just finished work ffs. From 9am this morning. Fml, am knackered.

Switching to wine now but am only having 2, otherwise I will be hanging tomorrow.

NC4Now · 14/06/2019 19:21

Frouby I only poo when I booze too. All the fruit, veg and weetabix in the world is wasted on me. Chuck a bottle of wine down my neck and I’m good to go. Literally.

Madame believe me, the supportive ex is a VERY new development, and I haven’t asked him for any money. I should really- DS1 turns 17 in a few weeks and he’ll need to drive for work. Unless he wants to catch the bus with all his tools, that is.

Longest your neighbours sound like a laugh. My friend is a good friend. She’s not the one I’ve fallen out with (but is mutual) and is much less drama prone. We bonded over building fires, drinking cider and listening to indie music. Invites usually go ‘I’m having a fire - come over!’
Yes, could definitely be lovely having her over the road 😊

Flossie44 · 14/06/2019 21:41

Madame - you are so right. Men deffo are the weaker sex. If on a weekend, dh and I have a major job day, sorting stuff out at home, clearing garden etc..he’s always exhausted and can’t move as soon as we stop....then I carry on and cook dinner for us all and general stuff til normal flaking time. He takes a day or two to recover. Mind you..I’ve watched him recently and if he does anything manual at home, he spends half of the time scratching his head and ‘thinking’, than actually doing to task in hand. Whereas I would rather motor on through it, get it out the way, and move on!!

Men are wierd!!

NC4Now · 14/06/2019 21:51

See this is what I don’t understand. Men can do half as much graft and lose twice the weight. Wankerbastards.

Mind you, Daniel on Corrie tonight told Sinead that William Golding, of Lord of the Flies fame, was right when he said women were deluded to think they were equal to men. They are far superior.

Love a bit of literature on the cobbles, me 😂

Flossie44 · 14/06/2019 22:07

A man said women are far more superior?? Where is he.....I NEED THAT MAN!!

NC4Now · 14/06/2019 22:24

I’m not sure Daniel Osborne’s my cup of tea, but I like that about Corrie, They all live in terraced houses ‘oop north (like me) but they like a bit of literature (like me).
Tonight’s ad break discussion: iambic pentameter. I fear I’m becoming Ken Barlow 😂

longestlurkerever · 14/06/2019 22:32

I live in a terrace too NC4. Can I join? Living on the Corrie set would make a change from feeling like I've been catapulted into Westeros.

I opened a second bottle. Noooooo. Putting cork back in now x

MadameForest · 14/06/2019 22:45

Flossie credit where it's due, Monsieur Forest often says he can't believe where I get all my energy from, but I think that may be due to the difference between French and British women rather than just women and men. Certainly his ex (beautiful, bourgeoise, petite and very fragile) would never even have set foot in the garden let alone manipulate a hedge cutter for several hours, collect all the branches, put them in a trailer and take them to the tip. I think DP quite likes the fact that he doesn't have to do everything himself now. I live in a terraced house too, a longhouse. In Northern France. But we don't have cobblestones and it doesn't rain as much as in Manchester.
NC4 the kittens are all doing fine, we try to bring them in the house for a while each day to domesticate them a little.
3/4 of a bottle tonight, not too good but not too bad either for a Friday.

Rightwayup · 15/06/2019 03:52

Have now done 7 days of 1 beer a night =16 units. Just need to keep at it once home. Aim next week is to also have an af day

longestlurkerever · 15/06/2019 08:49

Rightwayup that's brilliant! Does it feel sustainable?

Dishwasher bloke came back and was meek and civil. He's changed the motor. If it's fixed the problem I will be delighted.

Frouby · 15/06/2019 09:34

Right that's hardcore moderation, bet you feel fab!

I definitely didn't moderate last night. Urgh. 4 cans of lager and half a bottle of wine. Feel very bluergh this morning. And now got kayaking to take ds to. 3 hours sat at the side of the lake sounded like a fun way to spend a Saturday morning until Saturday morning.

Think my tolerance has reduced. Used to be able to do 4 cans plus wine no problem. Was absolutely pissed as a fart last night, sat with dd looking at photos of celebrities on her phone and rating them for looks and sexiness 😂😂😂. Jesus christ. Am 41 not 14.

Hoping that the boathouse cafe is open. I need more coffee and a big fat bacon buttie. Well and truely fell off sw yesterday and this morning I think.

SenselessUbiquity · 15/06/2019 10:13

I feel awful this morning. Drank far too much having long unhappy phone conversation with boyfriend. I really feel like I've fucked this up. I wish I could see him. Wish I could fix this.

CottonSock · 15/06/2019 10:39

Hi all. It's not. Bbq day where I am. Can't remember when we last had June with weather this shit.

I've had a decent week. Not many af days, but stopped at 1.
Watched drinkers like me with dh and did find it really good.

Have a babysitter tonight. So will have a couple of wines with food probably. But won't pre-load l8ke normal as nothing in house.

Interested reading about chickens. We have guinea pigs who are a new thing since March. Had to cut the buggers nails yesterday. One got a gold star, the other was a little shit. I dont think he's talking to me yet. They are in the kitchen as weather so wet.. They squark for food all the time.

Not much other news. A quiet weekend after the last one away (where I drank shit loads and didn't sleep). I'm roughly following slimming world too. Like the recipies but I don't tend to do counting stuff. Pulled pork tomorrow. Yum

Flossie44 · 15/06/2019 10:54

Happy weekend everyone!!

Flying past as have a local festival today all day which totally involves alcohol all day. Have written today off big time!!

NC4Now · 15/06/2019 12:33

My tolerance has gone down too Frouby. I had a bottle of red last night (thinking of Flossie’s red is good for you theory) and started another, but was totally rat arsed.
I was watching the Stone Roses Heaton Park documentary with DS1 trying to explain to him JUST HOW IMPORTANT that gig was and how it was THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE seeing them boys that day.

Am also now on caffeine and bacon recovery diet.

The good news is I have lost 3.5lbs by doing dry-ish June and eating a bit healthier. The bad news is, it seems wine makes you fat.

Rightwayup · 15/06/2019 18:37

Thanks. Day 8 done of again just 1 beer. Fly home tomorrow then the real test will come

Frouby · 15/06/2019 18:50

Well today went from bad to worse. And I have no fucks to give.

Took DS kayaking which was fun. Mad kids swimming in the lake 😂😂. Had a bacon buttie and coffee while watching him. Then came home, fell asleep on sofa watching 4 in a bed, napped a bit more once I woke up, mainly watched crap on tv, read a bit, dossed a bit, drank the last half of bottle of wine left over and pizza hut for dinner.

Absolutely blown sw but am OK with it. Won't weigh in on monday cos I only go every 2 weeks so time to undo it. And I need to be able to kick back sometimes or I just sack it off altogether. And I have eaten really healthily this week.

Having an early night, and then back onto AF and healthy eating.

Oh have also agreed to also go kayaking next week. They are running a few training sessions for parents so we can support our kids. Presumably it's so we can help on the water at sessions and I will be down there anyway so may as well be kayaking and burning some calories off. Quite looking forward to it actually, and hoping if I do it dd and even dh may have a go as well.

Not sure how I feel about getting into a wetsuit though 😂😂😂

Waterandlemonjuice · 15/06/2019 18:55

Hello everyone, have been drinking solidly, no AF days at all. Life has got me down recently. Will read you all later. Going out for a curry tonight, will drink at least a bottle of wine. May try AF in the week for the next few weeks, we’ll see.

Waterandlemonjuice · 15/06/2019 18:59

Flossie, my ds is the same age as yours and is a bastard to me too, it makes me so sad, I do sympathise

Waterandlemonjuice · 15/06/2019 19:02

Longest “I am always casting my mind into the future rather than just living in the present. “ - this is me too, in fact dh said this to me earlier, that I need to live in the moment more.

Waterandlemonjuice · 15/06/2019 19:08

senseless welcome and good for you on the conversations with your DP.

TOTALLY agree about men needing to bring their A game, I often tell dh this. It’s not good enough to be Sparkle Guy at work and a knackered wreck once you’re home with me. And he is brilliant and does always listen.
