New thread for the New Year.

Support thread for those who want to moderate and reduce alcohol. Absolutely no judgement, just advice and support. Absolutely everyone is welcome whatever your goals or hopes for 2019.

Am no good at clicky linke but there are previous threads and we look forward to continuing to moderate and reduce in 2019.

Especially today. 14 coming for 3 courses at 3pm and I have a raging hangover to start the year. Fml.

(I write this to the strains of somebody blethering on YouTube, probably about the best way to Do Eyebrows, or some such shit. It's going on upstairs, and I can't face engaging with it. On the bright side, I'm pulling the plug on the router shortly, as older DS is away, so there is no reason other than Mumsnet not to).

Dionysa · 03/01/2019 22:53

Flossie, if I could catch a train to Cornwall at this minute, I would. Grin xxx

Flossie44 · 03/01/2019 22:53

I’d make it worth your while 🤣Wine

Zofloramummy · 03/01/2019 22:53

My dd is 7 and appears to have become an insomniac!

Flossie44 · 03/01/2019 22:54

Tell You what...I’ll supply wine, frouby can supply Curry!! We all know how much she loves making it 😂😂

Frouby.....how’s mass curry making gone?

Dionysa · 03/01/2019 22:55

Zoflora, 7? Argh. All I can suggest is boarding school, now. Grin

Dionysa · 03/01/2019 22:56

Flossie, you're on. I will gladly travel for wine and a Frouby curry. It takes about 8 hrs from here to yours (as I know from experience), but it would be time well spent. Grin

SwampyMadeMeDoIt · 03/01/2019 22:58

Sorry, Flossie. I couldn't resist. Grin Grin

Though Swampy can fuck off tomorrow, when I have to get up for work at 6. 45 with a hangover.

Grin
Flossie44 · 03/01/2019 23:02

Pahahaha swampy is back ffs 🤪🤪

Hahah January 3rd and he’s back!!!!! That’s hilarious!! He’s jumping about euphoric in my house!! Hence why we have this thread 🤣🤣

Zofloramummy · 03/01/2019 23:03

Honestly boarding school sounds like a viable option Grin. She is lovely but she has sooo much energy and I am a grumpy old fart!!

Dionysa · 03/01/2019 23:10

Flossie. I have told Swampy to fuck off. He has not listened. It's all his fault. Grin

Zoflora, I am another grumpy old fart, and I recommend it. Grin

NC4Now · 03/01/2019 23:37

Evening ladies!! Weird this. I just sat down in a grump, thinking ‘Am I coming in my period or is everyone REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING?’, eyed up the bottle of wine I’ve had two glasses out of, thought about Swampy, and thought he could sod right off.
It’s mine.
In a bid to distract myself, I have started crocheting The Blanket of Sobriety. I’m thinking if I can just spend my evenings doing something with my hands (Oo-er!) I might stay off the booze.
But I’m too grumpy. It really needs to be next week now.

Frouby · 04/01/2019 00:06

Fucking Swampy 😊😂😂😂. He can fuck off too.

Didn't start the curry factory Flossie. I cleaned the twatting carpets then was knackered. Probably due to the anaemia I am suffering you know? Didn't have Guinness (is that good for iron levels or blood loss?) So had lager instead.

Going to do it tomorrow while these lazy twats are still in bed. The smell of boiling onions, ginger and garlic will be lovely for them to wake up to.

Dd (14) has been relatively normal all Christmas. Its ds(5) that has lost the plot. Little fucker gone completely feral. He's still awake now, just been in our room trying to steal DHs phone from charging so he can watch youtube.

Fuck knows how I am going to get him back into a routine for school Monday. Am waking him up first thing tomorrow morning. And he hates strong smells so will be pleased eating his cocopops to my curry simmering away. Grin.

The garlic might drive the vampire out though, he's barely seen daylight for days.

Oh god Frouby, I feel your pain. I’m so over the holidays. I haven’t even managed to spend any proper time with mine.
Something’s wrong with my family/work/social balance. I can’t get my kids to do anything with me.

Flossie44 · 04/01/2019 07:28

Morning all

How you all feeling?? I’ve got a sore throat this morning which I’ve convinced myself is down to Pinot Grigio damaging the cells in my throat. I’m now panicking hard about the damage I’m doing to my body!! 😢

Frouby....I can smell that ginger and onion combo from here!! Smells lush..send some my way!!

Dionysa · 04/01/2019 07:38

I'll have some of the ginger and onion combo, too.

I also have a sore throat, but I think I had it before the bottle of wine.

Don't even feel hungover this morning, despite late night and early start.

I am a bit cross with myself for caving in so soon, though.

I think I need everyone to go back to school.

Gracey88 · 04/01/2019 09:01

Good morning everyone hope no one is suffering from period pains but I'm sure their better than a hangover 😂 I'm 3 days AF and struggling still feel a bit fofgy. I'm at a play tonight so I'll be AF as I'm driving.

Zofloramummy · 04/01/2019 10:06

Morning all! Frouby I laughed at your feral 5 year old! My dd is the same, I’m taking her out today and hoping to walk the legs off her so she sleeps before 11pm tonight.

My mum had a ‘word’ with me about it as she was up until 11 last week at her house. Short of whacking her on the head with a mallet I’m not entirely sure what she expects me to do? The little bugger just wil not sleep!

Today will be ok, I’m more worried about Sunday. I’ve got work on Monday and school doesn’t open until Tuesday so dd is going to my mums. Which means a night alone. That’ll be a challenge. I may iron all evening, have a bath and head to bed early. Bad isn’t it? I’m worrying about Sunday and it’s friday morning!

NC4Now · 04/01/2019 13:20

Well. I didn’t finish the bottle (Swampy will be delighted) and I crocheted two squares of the Blanket of Sobriety.
I’m still really irritable though. I’m sick of the bloody PS4 and the hyper ranting from DS when he’s on it.
I love him to bits but trying to set limits with a 13 year old with ASD in the holidays, when I have to work and am a single parent is nigh on impossible.
Roll on Monday....

The plus side of this time of year is it’s not going to be a normal Friday night, I guess.

Tonight I will do some more on the blanket.

Zofloramummy · 04/01/2019 13:25

NC4Now what pattern are you using for your blanket? I started trying to knit socks the other day but I’m struggling with the magic circle technique and might go back to crochet for a bit.

Dionysa · 04/01/2019 13:37

NC4, I love the Blanket of Sobriety idea. I think you ought to run courses for the likes of me. Grin

NC4Now · 04/01/2019 14:38

Zoflora I’m just doing basic granny squares with whatever wool I’ve got. It’s pretty ill thought out really but I don’t mind if it’s a bit of a hodgepodge if it keeps me on the wagon.

There’s time for beautifully coordinated crafting down the line. This is crisis crochet!!

Flossie44 · 04/01/2019 14:54

Crisis crochet sounds fabulous!!

Dionysa · 04/01/2019 19:55

Limping through the evening AF. Sigh, sigh, sigh. Have bought some Aldi 0% fizz, and have downed nearly the whole bottle. On the good side, it's lower in calories than wine...

Flossie44 · 04/01/2019 20:30

Hey dion that’s ace!! What does the fizz taste like?? I like dry wine and all the non alcoholic ones seem sweet?

Feeling a bit pants and viral tonight. Feel cold and achy. Dh brought take away home and I’m sat on sofa with bottle of wine. Ffs!! I just love wine so much! How the hell do I not drink it?
