Do you have any weird rules in your household?

Mine is: nothing is allowed to be stored in the loft. Nothing. Not even Christmas decorations or suitcases.

I get the feeling that if just one thing is allowed to live in the attic, then all sorts of crap will be ‘stored’ there until we die.

Personally I don’t think it’s odd at all, but my DH thinks it’s utterly bananas.

Anyone else?

Huh. Guess I'm behind the times. We all drank it without a second thought as kids in the 70s/80s/90s. I don't have kids, so I haven't really thought about it. Seems like there's much more obvious bad foods, like chips and fizzy drinks and fried food. I'm sure you're right though.

Probably just as well we had multi coloured swirly patterned carpets in the 70s 😁

I grew up on squash, Ribena AND fizzy drinks Grin
70s and early 80s childhood.
I also had loads of sweets (10p mixes mostly) and crisps, puddings after our tea etc.

We have noisy pipes so no flushing the loo in the night! No flushing the loo if the washing machine is on. No putting the heating above 22 we can’t afford it. I don’t care if it’s freezing wrap a duvet round you!

I absolutely hate shoes being worn in the house. I do honestly think sometimes OH & DD put their shoes on specially to walk on the carpets. We put our shoes on to go out then one of them will remember something they need from upstairs or the front room & walk their shoes on the carpet. It drives me insane

I also have a weird thing about only having 1 cooked meal a day. If I have a sandwich for lunch I'll have a cooked dinner & vice versa. Dd1 recently asked me if her memory was correct in thinking I made her a snacky tea if she'd had cooked lunch at school. When I confirmed that she was right she looked so outraged I almost thought she was going to ring the NSPCC!

I also have the same one cooked meal rule, everyone I know including DH and DC think I am totally weird

Not us but Mother in law has "rules" about hot drinks despite not having any herself. Theres about a 5 minute window between it being "too soon" after one meal and "too near" to the next. Yet she has no problem with people.drinking beer or sweet fizzy drinks non stop - as that's what she and fil do.
