A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

My SIL lives in the country, has a black lab and votes Labour. Much for her to reconsider!

Have you told her that her dog doesn’t exist, presumably her lifestyle doesn’t exist, presumably her pub doesn’t exist…?

Hedgerowmanager · 29/09/2026 18:28

I do wonder if there will be many right wing black labs up for adoption, because oh the shame of having one.

Or whether they will be walked under cover of darkness from now on.

I think black labs win on this one. You’d have to be mad for Labour to prioritise the party over a lab.

The system would never cope. Someone mentioned earlier that they would have to be referred to Prevent. I think that’s the only way to deal with such a pressing issue. (Props to whoever that was, really made me laugh)

Someone kick me off here, please. I’ve got loads of boring housework to do….

instead, I’m looking at people being totally disingenuous on other political threads… why am I doing this….

Ah but labs are mythical like dragons 🐉

Just at the fascist end of the dragon scale like Smaug rather than leftie dragons like Puff (the magic).

Awww I approve. Good thread dogs.

Quentin Letts on Burnham's speech.

I've yet come across anyone irl who has a positive thing to say about Labour. If anything they've become the butt of many jokes, especially after that ridiculous comment about warm ale and black labs.

Yep to this. Mushy with a side order of tears.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this as I’ve not read the last thread but Labour isn’t working is a very good title as they are not encouraging anyone else to work either. They are not tackling welfare

Welcome and thank you. Its an old campaign that Thatcher used but its turned out to be very fitting for this Labour govt too. They never change.

Yes I all hear is mockery, and my area was Labour through and through before 2024.
They don't help themselves though do they.

The telegraph are reporting that the one in one out deal with france is about to be ended.

It was always a pointless piece of PR

Danny Finkelstein nails it in The Times:

We can’t afford the PM’s old-Labour instincts

Very good read, thank you.

I'll be glad when parliament is back properly. Time to get serious and deal with the issues most of us are concerned about.

Interesting, yes it was pointless. Looks like the French have had enough so it will end next month. I think I read that it cost the UK something like £56K per migrant.

French immigration official:- The president [Emmanuel Macron] has made it quite clear, he did so when he met Andy Burnham – so that’s it, it’s over. In any case, that’s what I’m being told right now. “France has been asking for it to be a European agreement from the start but, as far as I understand, the other countries don’t want it.”
