Massive holiday cock up !

We’re on a ferry on our way to a small Greek Island and I was checking the accommodation arrangements. I have just noticed I booked from 23-30 October not September 😮. The booking is for a week and not refundable. This is so unlike me but what a bloody idiot !

Absolutely check with them first. They may have friends or relatives with available rooms that can give you a cheap last minute deal. What a nightmare, hope the rest of the holiday goes well!

Good luck! Trivago is suggesting availability too if you have no luck with Booking.com. Worst case you jump back on the ferry and head to Corfu? Got to be more availability on a bigger island? Plus what @BeardySchnauzer said, speak to the hotel explain your mistake they might be able to help you.

This makes my OHs recent faux pas of booking the villa from Saturday to Saturday and the flights from Monday to Monday seem fairly minor. Hope you can work it out!

If they can accommodate you they may transfer rather than cancel and they may have arrangements with other local hotels. Good Luck.

They may have rooms available. Often booking.com only have one or two rooms in the property reserved. Not all.

Oh no!!! I did something like this (but not as bad once. I'd booked the home flight a day later so our accommodation slot left us a night short - we were able to stay and pay extra but had to move rooms).

I hope they can help but you might need to find somewhere else. The good thing about being left with the October dates is that is half term (i think) so someone else might be willing to buy it off you if the hotel won't transfer it.

Contact them and explain, I did this once by booking for 2027 instead of 2026, called them and explained and they agreed to move the dates and not impose the cancellation fees - will depend if they are available of course, but they may understand and not impose the fees!

I once booked a holiday, then booked the wrong week off work 🙈.

Someone I worked with booked flights to Las Palmas and accommodation in Los Palmos.

All got sorted after a LOT of stress!

Maybe you could sell your week to friends? Even for a lower price - anything is better than nothing.

Is it an apartment/house or hotel? If the latter, Greeks are usually really helpful in my experience (I'm married to a British Greek and we've lived out there!) and even if they can't accommodate, will often help you find somewhere.

I really sympathise - I've made similar mistakes myself but have usually spotted them in time to sort it, thankfully.

Check out your tickets as easyJet tickets have a flexi which means you can change your dates up to 4 hours before flying. Last month I discovered it on my ticket without me realising.
It’s coming up to the end of the season so finding accommodation shouldn’t be to difficult. If you go to the accommodation you have paid for they may have rooms or they will be able to ring round local hotels to find you somewhere.

Can’t you cancel it? I have a holiday let through booking.com and unless you booked non refundable people can cancel up to five days before the booking. And I just cancelled a hotel with 48 hours notice.

Less dramatically, but I booked our train tickets for gatwick next week and booked Tuesday but we dont fly til Weds. Luckily I realised and was able to cancel (for a fee 😠) and book for weds

I have done almost exactly the same thing. Wrong dates by a month, found out only a couple of days before travel that we had no booking. Luckily we were able to book the right dates when I found out but had to suck up the loss on the original, wrong ones. I triple check now. Commiserations.

Honestly, I’d book flights for the October dates and go twice rather than “lose” money. Get on booking.com or air BnB and find accommodation for this holiday. Paxos is lovely so lean into the error.

I did book non refundable ironically to save money.

OP is on a ferry on the way to the booked accommodation. What have plane tickets got to do with it?

Pretty sure she can't make changes to a flight that she has already been on.

My friend did this, but it was a holiday park. He got there and was told he'd booked a week for the following month. They were luckily able to find a vacant lodge for that week though. His wife never allowed him to book a holiday again.

Can’t remember which way round but my husband once booked accommodation, car hire etc on Menorca, and flights to Majorca ! Luckily we realised before we left but that heart stopping moment when you realise !
I once booked a trip to Paris and a hotel in Nice .. heart dropped when the taxi driver stopped and pointed it out ! I hadn’t realised that the hotel search criteria had come out of Paris, it said Notre Dame which is Paris innit 🤣. My French sister in law pointed out to me that there are Notre Dames literally all over France …
