Massive holiday cock up !

We’re on a ferry on our way to a small Greek Island and I was checking the accommodation arrangements. I have just noticed I booked from 23-30 October not September 😮. The booking is for a week and not refundable. This is so unlike me but what a bloody idiot !

I’ve done similar twice. Once booked the Eiffel Tower for the wrong day, but luckily it was the day after, so we just went back the next day.

Also managed to book horse riding in the Alps. Right day, right time, wrong mountain. Given it was France, they couldn’t have given less of a shit and just shrugged. My mistake, but gutted.

In my defence, I’m responsible for booking EVERYTHING in this house and I’ve made hundreds of successful bookings. No one is perfect 👌

So pleased it has been sorted. :) I once did a very similar thing. First holiday for our family in years and I misbooked dates for the accommodation. This was in Cyrpus and the very lovely hosts sorted it all out for us while I wrangled a 4 year old autistic DS and his 2 year old brother while sobbing gently.

Gosh, what a stressful experience @TheDogsMother but sending supportive vibes, and hurrah for it all working out!

We arranged to go on holiday the same week as friends, first week of the summer holiday, same as we had done for years. It was only when we got there that we realised their kids broke up a week later. We ended up on another local campsite for an unexpected second week's holiday rather than upset all the kids that they weren't getting their holiday together.

Any chance of going back next month to use the other booking?

OP, really glad you have managed to find accommodation, and Paxos is lovely. I went there by boat years ago.

I get that you don't give a shit if I'm ok, but also why shouldn't I join a thread about holidays if I'm skint?

Sorry to be annoying, but I'd rather not go into details because:

a) It's not super-interesting, I'm just an absolute idiot.
b) I'm still really, really upset about it and I cannot deal with other posters sticking the boot in, which they inevitably will.

I’m sorry this happened and pleased you are sorted even if poorer. Don’t beat yourself up though, it may not have been you. I was booking a flight once and the “click on calendar” suddenly jumped a month. Fortunately l noticed it, but that was down to luck not my scrutiny.

l stopped booking no cancellation options when l lost out during Covid. In addition, l try to get a friend to stand over me when booking anything expensive, so she can cross check.
