However, If we were still in Europe the argument would be that the UK should take our ‘share’ of the totals in Europe to reduce the strain on Italy/Greece etc. We may not currently have our share depending on how that’s worked out. E.g. We have a large population but less land.

Europe were never going to agree to the UK just sending back people to France. They didn’t when we were in the EU. We can’t do it now because of international obligations to asylum seekers.

We could unilaterally enact laws that remove rights from migrants but France still has to agree to take the people back. They don’t have to do this and wouldn’t. We could try and remove to whichever country they claim to be from after removing their rights but again the country has to agree to take them. Involves documentation that the country can just not comply with.

Most of the vehicles in a nuclear convoy (including those actually transporting the weapons) aren't marked. The convoy vehicles are primarily to keep clear routes. I'm unsure why you'd think there's any need for a swarm of police cars with flashing lights.

I'm dubious about the RNLI sending boats out from Hastings and Eastbourne, when there are several lifeboat stations closer to Gosport. It must be 80 miles or so from Hastings.
