If you take food on holiday what do you take?

I have a friend who always takes PEK and corned beef to make sandwiches. I mocked her, then was so happy when we went away and after being by the pool all day we could have a little sandwich on the balcony before going out.

DP and I are going away in November and for some reason TUI has given us about 10 suitcases each. I’m used to trying to cram everything into an under seat bag. But this time I’ve got checked baggage, carry on luggage, and a personal item. Don’t know what to do with it all! So I’m going to check a suitcase and take snacks.

If you do this, what do you take?

If you don’t and you think it’s ridiculous that’s fine but of no interest at all.

I think I must be unusual in mumsnet world in that I rarely snack. Snacking just puts me off my food. I eat meals when I am hungry.

Well that’s helpful.

Decade teabags.
2 x suncream just in case I can't get any on holiday.

You're unusual in the entire planet.

Humans have snacked for centuries,if not millennia across the world.

Yeah I always overbuy suncream. I’m actually excited to be able to buy and pack it instead of having to buy it at the airport.

I haven't had a Fray Bentos pie for over 40 years because I went veggie when I was at primary school but I used to really love them and they were one of the few things that I missed when l first stopped eating meat.

You can get Veggie Fray Bentos pies. I was very sad because I had never eaten one, my mum wouldn’t buy them as she made her own pies and I became veggie at 16. I’ve had the veggie balti ones and they’re not bad.

Thank you! That's genuinely exciting news. Off to Google.

Tea (Earl Grey or Darjeeling; I like buying herbal teas once there) and almond milk.
Maybe some kind of little packs of crackers and/or salted pretzel sticks or similar.

The WHOLE of Europe presumably outside Britain and Ireland has no squash on the entire continent???

In Germany we mix juice and sparkling water A lot nicer than squash.

I’ll admit to never having tasted salad cream.

I take squash. Foreign squash is awful.

I've never heard of PEK either!
