I've noticed that some boards are so much friendlier than others. What are the more hostile ones you've come across?

OP posts:
Shedmistress · Yesterday 19:12

'Those people over there are evil'
'We aren't evil we just believe in reality'
'See what I mean, they will all be here soon to take over as usual'
'Well, we just believe in biological sex', thats literally it'
'You are all mean and say things the wrong way'
'We literally just believe in reality, thats it'
'Some of you are unhinged'
'We literally just believe in reality'
'I'm not here to police your obsession'
'We literally just believe in reality'.
'There is never any nuance with you lot'
'It is literally just knowing two sexes are reality'

FWR is literally the most monitored board/forum probably on the internet. I can assure you if someone has been 'spiteful' it will have been logged and reported and looked at.

They even call themselves 'The Monitors' and host their own forums detailing who is reporting what.

You think FWR are 'spiteful' after a decade of rape and murder threats, harasssment, doxxing, court cases, sackings, inability to even book venues, go to the pub, bomb threats, drowning out, actual violent assaults, blocking people from getting to their own venues, chasing down the street, getting venues to cancel events, threatening the venue owners, going after their families, debanking and more, and that's just off the top of my head.

And you are worried about you might be 'accused of being a man' if you 'point out' their 'spitefulness'.

If that was all we had to worry about...for knowing that biological sex exists, what a wonderful world it would be.

See, this is what I mean.

I didn't say FWR are spiteful. Point to me where I said that. Point to where I said I'm 'worried' about being accused of being a man. Oh that's right, I didn't say that either.

Your whole post is sanctimonious and smacks of telling me to get back in my box. Surely you would WANT more people to head to FWR? Fuck that if it means having to put up with posts like this.

Definitely the feminism board. I’ve been on mumsnet for 16 years on and off and AIBU, chat etc can be but are usually a mix with some aggressive posters mixed in, the feminism board puts me right off posting and I just think they are a punch of angry bandwagon people who refuse to see any other point of view that is not their hardcore own. Very off putting and will win no hearts or minds,

I don't find people on there aggressive generally at all. They will give robust opinions but that's hardly the same as aggressive.

I genuinely think most people on here take even the slightest questioning of their own world view as aggression.

It is when it's women.
Men robustly debate.
Women are aggressive and mean and should be kinder.

But I find the way some posters express themselves is quite spiteful. I feel like if I pointed that out I would be accused of being - a man/pro-trans/pro porn or whatever.

Those were literally your words.

Hoardasurass · Yesterday 19:28

piscofrisco · Yesterday 14:26

I don’t think anyone said that. I think people said the feminism board was one which frequently descends into aggression. Which was then subsequently proven by people who frequently go on that board bringing the arguments they have there to this thread? And seemingly not being able to see that that shows why people consider it to be an unfriendly area of this site. And what a shame that is, because it should and could be such a force for good.

I wouldn’t care if anyone was a mad, bra burning lesbian either. I could live without the tone of a large minority of the posters there though, and I do, by not going on those boards anymore.

The thing is if people hadn't said it was full of trans hate most of us wouldn't have had to point out that we dont hate trans people we just dont think that they can/have changed sex and that they shouldn't be in any single sex space, facilities, groups, sports etc for the opposite sex.
Oh and that we are for retaining safeguarding of women and children and accurate language.
None of what we are saying is aggressive or hate nor is it unkind to refuse to play along with someone's delusion or partake in acts of religious observance for an ideology we dont share.
What is unkind and hateful is posters calling us hateful, vile, obsessed etc and funnily enough thats all coming from one side and like usual its coming from the tra/be kind brigade. Have you ever stopped and wondered why that is

Winederlust · Yesterday 19:28

So I say: The way SOME posters express themselves in spiteful.
You hear: FWR are spiteful.

If this is the standard of comprehension, I'm out.

Love your user name btw. It's second only to "aweecupofteaandanindividualfruittrifle.

I actually bought individual fruit trifles due to that user name.

My husband and son thought it was hilarious.

Hoardasurass · Yesterday 19:32

TheBooBox · Yesterday 14:59

No. We are talking about the few who believe if you aren’t some hard nosed business woman working all hours under the sun and if you’re not entirely financially independent, you are supporting the patriarchy.

God forbid a SAHM says she likes being a SAHM. She will be bombarded and condescended with comments like:
“When your husband cheats you’ll be penniless.”
“Nobody will hire you.”
“You have a power imbalance in your relationship.”

It gets so out of control and vicious very quickly.

None of that is on the feminism sex and gender board so are you talking about the feminism chat board?

Shedmistress · Yesterday 19:33

Hoardasurass · Yesterday 19:32

I've never seen any of that on any feminism. Board.

FlirtsWithRhinos · Yesterday 19:39

Differentforgirls · Yesterday 14:52

Guess not. Unless they are 67 year old trans women.

Bit unfair. There's lots of topics that usually go awful. The OP asked about boards though so I've not really been listing individual topics.

Topic-wise:

Immigration
Reform
Labour / taxation / public finances
Islam

Always go bloody awful even if there are good posts initially. These are all topics I know about and care about but stay away from because the positions are so angry and so entrenched. I will read to learn but almost never post. FWR, on both sides, is IMO pretty calm, rational and respectful compared to some of the posters on those topics.

GlensHutchisonsRobertsonsStephek · Yesterday 19:40

Shedmistress · Yesterday 19:30

Out of where?

Out of love? Out of sugar? Out of control?

Too tired to keep up the back and forth tonight. We probably have more in common than you think. Have a good night.

Hedgehogforshort · Yesterday 19:52

I avoid subjects such as immigration, Israel/Palestine, labour/conservative/reform, royals .

because there are strong opinions either side. It’s not because I cannot cope with disagreements it is just very polarised, so might as well talk to myself.

i feel no need to acquire likes.

like I said FWR is unique in truth the pre requisite is being a sex realist, that’s the condition

women tend to set aside their political allegiances and i find it a good place to be it is neither nasty or spiteful

I didn't start the thread and I wasn't the first to mention the feminism board but this seems to be really bothering you. I won't reply again as you seem very agitated about a thread on a forum. Take care.

Yeah, dishonesty and unfairness do push my buttons and I'll admit I find it hard to let poor logic go unchallenged, especially when it's being used to denigrate others.

But I can see how it's very frustrating for people who just want to say their piece without being disagreed with or having to justify it. Sorry about that.

(Didn't say you were the first to post. Just noting the pattern. You seem a bit defensive tbh).

People were asked their opinion of the boards and gave them.🤷‍♀️

I get that it may be uncomfortable reading for some FWR, Royal Family, AIBU regulars etc. It doesn't make the opinions voiced here, less valid.

"Women are told, in no uncertain terms, that certain items of clothing are ‘mumsy’ or ‘frumpy’ or cheap. "

Sorry, but that's what S&B is for. It's for opinions and people who don't want to hear them shouldn't ask for them.

And if someone is asking for advice because they have lost confidence because they’ve spent the previous five years in baggy leggings as a SAHM - do you really think that is an appropriate way to speak to them? There is such a thing as constructive criticism and a way to give someone the advice that they have bravely asked for without making them feel even worse about themselves.

It doesn't make them right either. Look at the amount of people that think 'people knowing reality' is 'hate'. That is NOT the definition of hate.

Hoardasurass · Yesterday 21:07

Differentforgirls · Yesterday 16:03

No. It’s a comment which, at best is aggressive and at worst is downright creepy. Especially from one feminist to another.

Thing is we dont agree on what a feminist is because your version of feminism includes men and tbh revolves around the wants of those men whilst excluding most women by ignoring their needs, whereas our feminism excludes all men and stands against all of their demands and wants whilst centering the needs of women.
Most normal Feminists dont recognise you version as being feminism at all as if your feminism includes/centers men and their wants then its not really feminism ie centering the needs of women.
Also your the one who has been rather aggressive and goady on this thread which is something many of us who regularly post on FWR board recognise as your normal posting manor, on that board atleast (I cant say about how you post on other boards as I don't think we've interacted on any other boards)
