I got so angry reading that. Those women deserve better. Really makes my blood boil. 😡

This weekend Wales held a rally in Aberystwyth independence for the principality. There were 8k. Protestors. Looking at the photographs a lot of young people attended. Well the university has 15k students so not unusual.

I just feel they're turkeys voting for Christmas.

A primary school in Llanfairfechan is going Welsh only education, there's been enough of an exodus of pupils for the MS to be organising transport for those children. Now it should be noted that we do have Welsh medium schools the children attend a Welsh immersion centre daily for 10 weeks or so. Transport being arranged.

If only the pisa report hadn't stated that Welsh education was the worst in the UK it wouldn't be so concerning.

Oh yes, the white van men, she was deriding - from the hate not hope party.

We claimed attendance allowance three years ago, when my father was given a terminal diagnosis terminally for a blood cancer, and became increasingly infirm, eventually bedridden and needing carers four times a day. It paid for those carers and left a bit that provided adult nappies etc.
I thought that was what it is for.
My mother is almost 91, still
lives proudly and fiercely entirely independently, does all her own chores and gardening, even cutting her grass herself.
We feel proud of her. Isn’t that how things should be?
I do do her admin - I suppose someone might think I should claim for that.

Agree. I’m not sure anyone is paying their conference much attention. It’s all car bumper sticker lines.

Well it was once. I and every manager were made redundant on the same day by a new boss parachuted in to save the business which had an overseas owner. We filled in all the forms for unemployment benefit. Had an excruciating interview at the jobcentre. Had to report to this woman every two weeks. Provide proof that we were looking for work, jobs we'd applied for. Trust me we were all looking. I was overqualified in a niche market as was my colleague and friend. It was humiliating we both felt like such failures.

Eventually she got a job at an estate agents, I went self employed. There really wasn't a bridge provided by our job centre back in the early 90s.

Not sure that is entirely true, did a bit of volunteering with the local council advising people over pension age what benefits you could claim. Attendance Allowance is not means tested but you need Consultant/GP/hospital appointment letters to back up your claim, they can also check your medical records, you have to give permission. My dear friend who was diagnosed with cancer, not terminal, had to jump through hoops to get hers. You do get fast tracked if you have a terminal illness with less than 12 months to live though. I have never had to claim benefits so was clueless so had to have training for the volunteer role.
