Couples who Hold Hands

I’m interested in other people’s views on couples who walk around holding hands.

Do you and your partner do this?

We do, but I’ve noticed that I don’t really see others doing it and wondered if we’re perceived as a bit weird.

Not what I intended at all. it was just a genuine lighthearted question.

I don’t actually care if people think we’re weird.

Because they block up the space! It drives me mad. A tiny space for the underwear section and it’s full of bored men who don’t need to be there. Queues for the changing rooms because women are coming out to show their husbands. I feel the same about whole families clogging up the aisles at supermarkets or who walk four abreast down the High Street preventing anyone from overtaking.

I also feel quite strongly the dogs should not be allowed in John Lewis too, that is a joke.

Men and dogs should be banned from women’s clothes sections, families from supermarkets (kids are fine), and some sort of overtake lane introduced on High Streets.

You are responding in a way that suggests you are annoyed - that’s what’s making it controversial- maybe you lack self awareness?

I didn’t really notice couples ‘til Harry and Megan seemed obsessive about never not being joined at the hip. It looks a bit icky like he’s clinging on to his mummy.

Otherwise I couldn’t give a flying shit about what other couples do as long as they don’t expect me to get in the gutter because holding hands makes them moronically unable to walk single file when an individual pedestrian is walking the other way.

@MrCranky My dh and I still do and we’re in our late 60’s early 70’s. I can’t imagine not 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Depends where. On the beach fine, on a busy footpath where its blocking others getting past, not fine.

You must go through public spaces in a high state of irritation.

I never go shopping if I can at all avoid it. Miserable places.
