Couples who Hold Hands

I’m interested in other people’s views on couples who walk around holding hands.

Do you and your partner do this?

We do, but I’ve noticed that I don’t really see others doing it and wondered if we’re perceived as a bit weird.

He is a bit. He's definitely higher energy than me and a very different genetic make up. We think he's got Mediterranean genes and mine are from Scotland. I'm much less tolerant to heat/cold than him in day to day life. He runs marathons and I like a hike on an autumn day! So yes, you have a point.
Luckily he doesn't enjoy hot beach holidays and is happy to work with my limits as I am miserable in the heat and he likes to get out and do things with me so we've found our happy spot! He definitely deserves a hand hold.

We’ve been together for 34 years and pretty much always hold hands - even when walking the dog 😊. We would let go of one another to avoid causing an obstruction though.

We used to before dc. But now one of us is usually running after them. I’d like to think we will again though one day!

Been married near on fifty years and never really held hands but in the last few months we do. Maybe it’s to help keep us upright. 🤣🤣

Yes we do. I love holding his hand when out walking. Not so easy with the children though as they like to hold my hand instead!

We don’t do pda when out and about, but we always hold hands if we’re sat together at home etc.

It irritates me intensely. I note every hand holder on here claim they unlink when it would cause an obstruction or it’s busy.

Not in my experience!!! Annoying, infantilising hand holding couples seem to always be holding me up and blocking the pavement.

Unless one of the hand holders is a toddler or infirm/unsteady, it’s just frustrating for other people as they just seem oblivious as they drift along 🤦🏻‍♀️ Nobody who holds hands seems to have any sense of pace. It’s all just dawdling.

Was just about to post that we did pre kids then fell off a bit . Oldest boy though loves holding hands from when he could walk. Always wants to hand hold when walking even now at 10 and he’s kind of got us back in the habit again x

No, it would really annoy me. Also there’s a foot height difference so it would feel odd, and we have a different camber in our walks. We live in a hilly area and the paths are rough so you need your hands for balance, anyway.

I love seeing old couples holding hands. I think aw after all these years they still love each other but then I think is it because one is a wanderer or they need each other for support to get around safely?

Nope. Gives me a bit of an ick for anyone under the age of about 80 - can’t really explain why does it does. But much older people, I find it sweet.

No issue other than my ‘ick’ which I try and keep to myself.

Maybe they’ve got the right idea and are just enjoying life? Maybe everyone should slow down a bit, they might be happier?

I’m single but yes I like holding hands or linking arms when in a relationship.

DH and I hold hands when out walking or even shopping until we get into the store and then I like to push the trolley.

Pretty much always if we’re walking together… clingy bastards that we are 😂

It would never occur to me, and I adore DH. I think I find it infantilising, and it would annoy me when walking.

Yes if we have the chance, one of us usually holds hand of child nowadays but if we are alone we do, and before parenthood all the time

Yes, unless I've been at my horse. He doesn't want to hold my muddy, shitty, greasy, horse-smelling hand. I can't understand why 👀

No, I'm not 5 and dont need anyone holding my hand to stop me wandering off!

No we don’t. I think it’s a bit odd to be honest. Very teenager “look look I have a boyfriend!!”

I saw Andy Burnam and his wife holding hands and thought it looked totally inappropriate when greeting world leaders. I’ve sent other politicians doing it as well and feel the same about them!

Yes, not all the time but often. Obviously only if there's room to walk side by side! Sometimes we link arms. I'm in my 50s and DH is in his 60s, we've been married a long time, doubt anyone even notices a wholly unremarkable pair of fuddy-duddies like us.
