Omg I shagged the vicar

BC for this one!!

last summer I moved to a new village with my 2 teen DC’s following my divorce. I’ve made a real effort to integrate into village life and joined a cycling group which I love.

a couple of new members joined a few months ago, one of whom is the vicar from a nearby parish. He’s 39 single. I’m 43.

on Friday we all met for drinks snd I ended Ho inviting a group back to my house. Kids are away with their dad. We all had a few more drinks at my house before people started heading home. There’s been a little bit of flirtation between me and the vicar and it ended up just me and him- we had some more wine and he was being very complimentary and was clearly trying it on. We ended up kissing and I’m afraid that I ended up shagging him on my kitchen sofa. Very out of character for me.

im now mortified that I have to see him at cycle meet this week. My friends think it’s hilarious but im worried he’ll think I’m loose and common. 😲

Kitchen sofa - a stealth flex from OP there 😂

Crikey it’s been decades since I heard a woman worry she might be seen as ‘loose or common’ after a casual shag. Did you time slip from the 70s?

Maybe it isn't for the shag, but for telling all of her mates and then starting a thread on MN for the Daily Mail to pick up?

Womanofcustard · 31/08/2026 13:51

I was worried it was going to be Dawn French…

19lottie82 · 31/08/2026 13:51

I think the most important thing here is…….. was he any good?!

Christ0nABike · 31/08/2026 13:51

So that’s what caused the lightning storms the other night ⚡

This.....

Come on OP, spill the beans 😁

Or Father Brown 🫣

Oh, turns out he’s a Catholic priest. 🤦‍♀️

PoliteGreyDreamer · 31/08/2026 13:54

You have a sofa, in your kitchen?

Is this the stealth brag? That you have a kitchen large enough for a sofa?!

makeaplantpot · 31/08/2026 13:54

OrneryWorld · 31/08/2026 13:46

Well you've certainly integrated into the community 😂

I think you need to move 1000 miles away and all change your identities. Stay indoors until at least 2036 and you may stand a chance of going on to lead a full and purposeful life after that.

OR

You can just pretend everything is perfectly fine and all that's changed is you now know how big the vicars knob is 🤔

😂😂😂😂😂
Go to every service and sit right in front of the pulpit. Report back here.

TheMadGardener · 31/08/2026 13:55

Maybe this is the start of a lovely relationship? Don't be embarrassed, you're both single consenting adults!)

(I also have a kitchen sofa BTW!)

EspressoWarrior · 31/08/2026 13:26

Did you yell “Oh my god!” as you reached your ‘pinnacle’?
I’m sure he’d have judged you for that.

Did he say amen if you did?

JeanSimmons · 31/08/2026 13:57

Be careful OP. I bet he has one in every parish!

J/K. Enjoy yourself!

Ethelrogers · 31/08/2026 13:57

I have a sofa in my kitchen too. I live in an ex council house, so I don’t find them boastable 🤣

My local vicar looks like Shrek and smells of wee though.

Bonkers1966 · 31/08/2026 13:57

How was it for you??

LinedOverLatte · 31/08/2026 13:58

Good for you (and him). I’m hoping this goes somewhere, if it’s something you’d like. Please don’t even think about being “loose”. Such a dated and inappropriate view - we should not feel ashamed for having a natural desire and sex drive. Mine went through the roof at about your age (peri-meno and divorce were a great awakening 😉)

You’re both single so it affects no one but the two of you. Yes, the bible preaches against sex before marriage but 🤷‍♀️ Marriage back then was different anyway and often not happening from a place of love, but convenience.

I am Christian and believe in the teachings of Jesus, but I also know we’re all human and no one is perfect - not vicars, not me, not my non-Christian friends, not my atheist friends, nor the agnostics, the baptists or 7-day adventists, and don’t even get me started on some of the Catholic priests.

Just enjoy the moment - it’s no on else’s business but yours and his. He might feel some guilt, but will pray about it, and he might not. All Christians have a very personal walk with God and it’s not for anyone else to judge.

Beware the hypocrisy and gossip of parishioners if you start seeing each other. And I say this as a church-going Christian - I’ve experienced it myself. The judgement from people who profess not to judge (lest they be judged) is disgraceful. It’s often the more mature ladies who’ve been married forever (happily and not) and who probably would have, given the chance. That’s the irony.

x2boys · 31/08/2026 13:58

Could be worse you could have shagged a roman catholic priest
That would have been " sinful" !
Did you enjoy it?

Exactly! Come on - you can’t leave us in suspense like that.

FlorenceLawrence · 31/08/2026 13:59

YANBU to shag the vicar.
YABVU not to share the details. How did you leave it that night, and has he been in touch??
My local vicar is gay, so no chance of these sorts of shenanigans around here!

purplecorkheart · 31/08/2026 14:00

I really thought that this was going to be one of those threads where it was given a dramatic title to get people to click and then is actually asking some non- related boring question.

Haha you are both single, you have known each other for a while. If you are loose then so is he.

Was the "I ended Ho" in your third paragraph a freudian typo? 😆

Good on ya, have some fun, why not!

Northernlurker · 31/08/2026 14:02

39 yr old single male priests are generally gay ime. So no issue with the one off shag that is what it is, but I’d be cautious about anything else OP, this is an unusual situation.

Ritasueandbobtoo9 · 31/08/2026 14:03

May your fountain be blessed, Amen.

The only hypocrite here is the Vicar.

We need more details OP!!! Did the single vicar know his way around a lady? 🤔🤣

Hilarious though, I hope this is the start of something lovely for you both.

This one doesn’t sound very gay 😂
