Omg I shagged the vicar

BC for this one!!

last summer I moved to a new village with my 2 teen DC’s following my divorce. I’ve made a real effort to integrate into village life and joined a cycling group which I love.

a couple of new members joined a few months ago, one of whom is the vicar from a nearby parish. He’s 39 single. I’m 43.

on Friday we all met for drinks snd I ended Ho inviting a group back to my house. Kids are away with their dad. We all had a few more drinks at my house before people started heading home. There’s been a little bit of flirtation between me and the vicar and it ended up just me and him- we had some more wine and he was being very complimentary and was clearly trying it on. We ended up kissing and I’m afraid that I ended up shagging him on my kitchen sofa. Very out of character for me.

im now mortified that I have to see him at cycle meet this week. My friends think it’s hilarious but im worried he’ll think I’m loose and common. 😲

It is Grace. The thing that you say before eating a meal.

Very sad that the Lords Prayer is no longer taught in schools.

@HarshbutTrue2 I agree it's sad, on more than one level, and strange because R.E. is on the curriculum in both primary and secondary schools. When Cliff Richard sang it, it was immensely popular, and had a level of success greatly exceeding expectations.

Having googled it, you're right - I don't know when they stopped the Lord's Prayer in Schools, but having seen the words, I was taught it a long time ago.

Local Authority Schools are still required by Law to hold a daily "collective worship" that is wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character" but it's rarely, if ever, enforced.

Slow hand clap for Marianka Swain…trawling fake MN threads in search of stories. Now that is first class journalism. I wonder how many awards she’s won? Her journalism professors must be so proud.

The media are so hard up for stories they will print nonsense from a forum unchecked. We are lost.

HarshbutTrue2 · 04/09/2026 21:11

Hilarious.

Imagine if the post was true and it's cycling club tomorrow!!!

We did warn OP to delete the thread.

I think the journalist started the thread, in order to gain some reaction, which created material for her article.

It's interesting that ladog78 neither returned to the thread or deleted it. One of the comments in telegraph article suggested her username should be village bike.

I think the game was up when she said the vicar whatsapped to apologise about soiling the sofa.

A good journalism degree should never go to waste…

I wonder if she goes back to her old uni to give talks to 3rd year students on Careers Day… “See, what you do is, create a profile on MN like this, then you make up a story…”

Edited

I doubt that very much.

More likely she was trawling MN and saw 'trending' and read the thread.

The gist seems to be about whether the clergy should live their lives to a higher standard (moral code) than their flock.

I do hope it was a complete fabrication or some vicar somewhere will be mortified.

I guess 'Integrity' is not his middle name?

What denomination is he?! i feel we ought to know this before judging him for breaking his religious vows. Maybe it’s allowed.

Vicar refers to Church of England, i.e. Anglican. Priests are Roman Catholic and other denominations use titles such as Reverend, Minister or Pastor. Other titles may be available! 🧑‍💼

ladydan · 05/09/2026 18:47

So what if he does?
As long as you’re comfortable with your values (morally & spiritually) that’s all that counts.
Hope it was a good shag and get him to take you to dinner next time ;)

Rbanks · 05/09/2026 19:27

Its ok you snagged him.

SMDX3 · 05/09/2026 19:45

I mean if he thinks that of you surely he thinks that of himself as you both took part. You’re adults, you both wanted to. I think he would be more embarrassed thinking that everyone might know what the Randy vicar was up to on a kitchen sofa! How godly of him 🤣

NeedSomeHeadspace · 05/09/2026 19:53

He’s probably more worried than you! Good story though! Do you want things to continue? Hope it works out, if you do.

Eldersister · 05/09/2026 20:29

Get it girl ✨ you both enjoyed something natural and completely acceptable. Enjoy the excitement. Don’t judge yourself harshly, as you would not judge him or others.

AlexStocks · 05/09/2026 20:59

You're loose and common, but he's not? That's a strange stance. He's a man of God. Shouldnt he be the sheepish one?
