I’m watching A Place In The Sun

On C4 right now.

I have this on most days cos I love seeing all the apartments. One thing is bugging me though. The apartments that have swimming pools whether private or shared with several other properties NEVER EVER have a single soul using them. It’s always a picture perfect view of a pristine pool, nobody laid on a sun lounger, no noisy kids splashing about, nothing!
I’m assuming that the camera crew must chase everyone using the pool area out of the way so they can get the perfect picture postcard shot.

I do realise there are bigger problems going on the world 🙈 but it’s just a little peeve!

“I could just see myself here of an evening with a glass of wine” will be said at least once per episode

Lol. Very true. But I think the same thing when I see a lovely balcony with a sea view.

What bugs me is why the couples hold hands when they are walking round the property - really pisses me off but is it to make sure they stay in shot and one of them doesn't go wandering off on a tangent - that would be funny.

I miss Johnny :( He would have been my choice for a presenter. I bet he'd have gone out for a few beers after filming with the punters

MyManinCaracas · 27/08/2026 21:27

I love Jasmine; she always seemed to be pregnant and had a great tan. But yeah, expecting 3 beds, sea views and a pool for all your extended family for £30k is outrageous.

Cotopaxi · 27/08/2026 21:34

unwise frock

Love it!

Dragonflyspeeding · 27/08/2026 21:35

I read previously that they audition for couples in the APITS exhibition. A certain age person go to these things so no wonder they are all similar.

The 'cheeky' offer is bad form. They tell their budget to the presenter. The presenter finds them properties within their budget (the more realistic upper limit applies). Then they offer well below the asking price even though it is within their budget. The presenters often look embarrassed when they phone the agent with the miserable offer and unsurprised when they get a call back rejecting 'cheeky' offer before they have even taken a sip of their full glass of orange juice.

MelonSorbet · 27/08/2026 21:45

You get the ones that do make an offer and it's rejected but they get a counter offer. So Jasmine says, "They haven't accepted your offer of 75,250 but they will accept 77,199" and the man (it's always the man) says "Oh no, I'm not going up that high!". I'm thinking, it's literally an extra couple of grand, do you want the flat or not?! Baffles me every time.

ladygindiva · 27/08/2026 21:54

Ha I knew a woman who along with her boyfriend and dc pretended they were thinking of moving to Australia just for the free holiday with no intention of moving 🤣

Or the presenter says “they won’t accept your offer of £70k. The absolute lowest they will accept is £75k”, then the guy will say to his wife “let’s offer £72k”. The presenters must inwardly cringe…

lifeisgoodrightnow · 27/08/2026 22:02

My friends appeared on there and a follow up show and I have a house in the same place they bought. Already had it I wasn’t copying !!! Real people do appear on the show and it does change lives. But yes there are also chancers without a doubt.

I like Leah and Laura and Ben . Jasmine seems quite full of herself and I’m not keen on Lee. I think Jean has left now.

I may be a little obsessed.

jazzybelle · 27/08/2026 22:02

The cheeky offer. 🙄

The presenters "Have I got a contender,' is just as annoying. They have become even more pushy as time has gone on. Contender, contender, contender.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2026 22:12

I do love it when the presenter loves the place and the couple don’t. It becomes a bit competitive.

DetailRedacted · 27/08/2026 22:20

I’m loving all these comments but the unwise frock is genuinely funny (and true) 😂
I do love watching it and also Escape To The Country and I’m not jealous AT ALL that I’m not in a financial position to ever participate IRL 🤪

They are the ones who never had any intention of buying.

I'm sure I've seen one where the difference has been even less. E.g. presenter says 'they won't accept your offer of 70K. The lowest they will accept is 72K' and the househunters will say no.

Yorkshirelass04 · 27/08/2026 22:24

It's the unrealistic expectations that make it worth a hate watch.

Recklessismymiddlename · 27/08/2026 22:25

I often will watch one and record the other, when they are on at the same time and im
at home.

Love the property porn of them both.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2026 22:25

Escape is even worse. ‘ try to guess the price’ why do this! It’s so frustrating. The twinkle music, the niche hobbies , the ‘ oh we want tesco up the road , but also 25 acres and a huge kitchen so people can travel all day to visit us ‘ hmm .. good luck with living so rurally when you haven’t done it before.

Yorkshirelass04 · 27/08/2026 22:27

Or when they throw in a cheeky offer because the house needs x y z doing to it (in their opinion, to bring it up to their spec). When the asking price obviously factors in the areas that need improving!!

2026letsgo · 27/08/2026 22:37

The “ spectacular view” is always a bit of shrubland, the backs of many houses and air con units with an angled gap, where you can just about make out a tiny glimpse of sea.
I’m guessing it must be the cameras fault and it looks better in real life because no one says “that’s a shit view Jasmine”.

My mum used to say this 😂
Even if they put an offer in you can gurantee there will be a voice over at the end of programme
After careful consideration Elaine and Pete decided not tob go go forward with the apartment in Alcudia
But it hasent put them off and they are still looking
She reckonrd they just fancied a freebie with all expenses paid

Edited

Haha your mum was totally on the money about all of it I reckon, I’m always saying to ds that they just go out there for the jolly! One we saw last week was 2 guys, looking for one of the guys new family holiday spot, wife and dc at home - WHY?! They just wanted to do a bit of golfing in the sun together obviously!
and yep; the voiceover at the end is predictable as hell.
ds and I do have a chuckle when we watch it together. I mostly find it quite funny that this 14yo sporty giant boy quietly
settles down to watch a place in the sun 😂

BarmyFotheringay · 27/08/2026 22:45

I have to laugh when it's a couple of a certain age with one of them having mobility issues and they are shown a place on a very steep hill with a spiral staircase. Why?

So many are boring, tiny flats (lounge more like a hallway) on urbanisations.

We want a pool and a sea view

for fifty quid

We have a saying here:

’A little bit further from the sea …’

Usually when seeing abandoned wrecks that could qualify as a doer upper if you were completely bonkers and had a bottomless pit of money to throw at them.

I like Jasmine. I also like Jean Johansson. She always manages to show her pissedoffness at the time wasters in a cheerful side eye way.

Who would you like to get if you went on it? I think I'd love Lee Juggurauth for his amazing Leee John Imagination outfits 😀

I’m sure I read that Lee has his own clothing company.

So Ladies, if you’re into shirts unbuttoned to the waist, MC Hammer trousers and gold jewellery, Lee has something to sell you …

Picoloangel · 27/08/2026 22:54

What I love is John and Sue from Scunthorpe with a budget of £50k wanting a detached luxury Spanish villa with a private pool and concierge. They are always a bit deflated at the end with talk of how they’re going to have a think about it and continue the search on their own.

I think the reason they ask to guess the price is to estimate how much the potential buyers like it. If they like it, they say its worth a higher price?
